House in Easkey, Sligo, Ireland - Peaceful Location, Yet Just 2 Minutes To The Sea And River At Easkey.

Quiet and peaceful, yet just 2 minutes drive to the Easkey coastline and fishing river or 10 minutes drive to the beautiful beaches at Enniscrone or Dunmoran. A beautiful house with everything to the highest standard. House sleeps 6 adults and there are two sofa beds that provide additional accomodation for 4. Cots and highchairs als provided if requested.

About Miriam Carnegie

I am married with five children, aged between 4 and 14. I have recently moved home and currently live on the family farm with my husband and family. I work on the farm where we milk a herd of Holstein Dairy cows and also are tillage and potato farmers.

Why Miriam Carnegie chose Ireland

We built our property and moved in 2000. We lived here for 10 years until we moved to the family farm. We built the house with a view to having a rental property when this time came. The house is located on a site that is not part of the farmland.

What makes this house unique

Cornerstones is a comfortable one storey property which is floored throughout with pitch pine floorboards. The kitchen cum livingroom is at the centre of the house which has a stone inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove. Off the kitchen there is a separate sitting room and dining room. There are sofa beds here for additional accommodation .There are three bedrooms. The main bedroom has an en suite which has a power shower. Bedroom two and three share a large oom. This also has a direct from the mains shower and bath.Bedroom two has twin beds and bedroom three has a double bed. There is a large hot press with ample towels and bedding. We are a family of 7 that acknowledge the needs of families. The house is built on 3/4 acre with mature garden and enclosed patio.

Notes on accommodation: Oil fired central heating. Solid fuel stove. An open fire in the sitting room makes it very cosy in Winter. There is a travel cot, high chair and lots of toys and books. The garden has a picket fence with a sandstone chip drive. The location is ideal for children/pets. Outside: Garden is 3/4 of an acre with mature trees and lawns. Paved patio and bbq on request. Ample parking. Lots of room for kids bikes and toys. Boiler house for storage of surfboards and fishing rods and tackle. Utility Room: Washing machine, dryer, sink, wc Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen provided.

Very cosy and comfortable

We had a great stay in this wonderful cottage. There is loads of space inside and out. The house has nice feeling and everything required for a very nice holiday. We were very warmly taken care of by the gracious owner

What a lovely house. Spacious, full of character and catered for all our needs. The kitchen in particular was a lovely family room and be warned the photos do not do it justice. Miriam, the owner, was a fantastic host. Nothing was too much trouble - however she wasn't any good at sorting requests for warm and sunny weather ;-)

Brilliant place to stay

We spent a week here with our son, his wife and two small children. We had plenty of space and found the large dining kitchen especially useful. The weather wasn't great but we still managed to eat out on the large patio several times. The children and the dog had plenty of space to run around and play. The children really enjoyed their visit to the farm to see the cows being milked. Miriam and her family are friendly and helpful and made us all feel very welcome. The children liked the beaches at Inniscrone (sandy with swimming pool and play areas close by), Aughris (sand and rockpools) and Strandhill (sand with a few beach pools). Plenty of walks close by and in Easky village. Sligo is a lovely place to wander and relax in the cafes by the river. The Fleadh Cheoil was on there during our holdiay and it was brilliant.

A beautiful house in beautiful Sligo! We spent a week here in this fantastic house with four children and we all had plenty of space. Everything you could need was provided and it was spotlessly clean and tastefully presented. Fishing was plentiful, playing was fun in the garden and dining in a spacious kitchen made every meal enjoyable. The owners are friendly and very hospitable. Great location to tour or walk......we will definitely return and have recommended it to friends and family. Thank you Miriam and Andrew.

Car: recommended

Special interest holidays:

Ideal location for people with an interest in fishing. The Easkey river can be heard from the house.

2 minutes drive to Easkey castle and pier populated with surfers all year round.

Various sandy beaches and resort at Enniscrone is a 10 minute drive.

Archaeology and nature are plentiful with informative tourist information office. Local shops and pubs 2 minutes in either direction.


Most families with young children like to go to the beautiful sandy beaches at Dunmoran or Enniscrone. For walkers there are several options on the spot or along the coast at Easkey which in along the Wild Atlantic Way

For surfers, it is 1 mile to Easkey and Easkey river is a two minute walk from the house.


Knock Airport - 30 miles. Ryanair continue to add more routes from Knock to UK, France, Germany and Spain.

Dublin Airport - 120 miles.

A car is essential here - for going to the shop etc.


Easkey and Dromore West villages - both 2 miles in opposite directions. Shops, ATM, Butcher, Chinese takeaway, fastfood takeaway, pharmacy shops and pubs.

Sligo town is 20 miles and Ballina 14 miles away in opposite directions.

Further Details:

This is an ideal location of people who want a quiet, scenic, coastal location with a good range of activities. There are great shoreline or hill walks nearby.

Surfing at Easkey is highly recommended. Many guests do the 30 minute walk to the top of Knocknarea mountain for panoramic views. Fishing for Salmon on Easkey River or The Moy in Ballina. Fishing for Mackerel at Augrhis Head or go deep Sea fishing from Enniscrone. Boat trips to Inismurray Island. Stand up paddle boarding and kayaking also at Aughris. Visit caves, tombs, megalithic sites. Sligo-Way walkways. All along the Wild Atlantic Way.

Enjoy an evening in by an open fire or head to Easkey village and you might just be in time for a traditional music session. The acclaimed ' Pudding Row ' is great for Breakfast, Brunch or Afternoon Tea
