About Miriam Carnegie

I am married with five children, aged between 4 and 14. I have recently moved home and currently live on the family farm with my husband and family. I work on the farm where we milk a herd of Holstein Dairy cows and also are tillage and potato farmers.

Miriam Carnegie purchased this house in 2000

Why Miriam Carnegie chose Sligo

We built our property and moved in 2000. We lived here for 10 years until we moved to the family farm. We built the house with a view to having a rental property when this time came. The house is located on a site that is not part of the farmland.

What makes this house unique

Cornerstones is a comfortable one storey property which is floored throughout with pitch pine floorboards. The kitchen cum livingroom is at the centre of the house which has a stone inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove. Off the kitchen there is a separate sitting room and dining room. There are sofa beds here for additional accommodation .There are three bedrooms. The main bedroom has an en suite which has a power shower. Bedroom two and three share a large oom. This also has a direct from the mains shower and bath.Bedroom two has twin beds and bedroom three has a double bed. There is a large hot press with ample towels and bedding. We are a family of 7 that acknowledge the needs of families. The house is built on 3/4 acre with mature garden and enclosed patio.

A Lovely Stay in Ireland

  • 5 of 5

Really lovely property with very helpful owners prior, during and after our trip. The house is clean, cosy, very well provisioned and is in a perfect location for all this wonderful region has to offer. Ideal for a large family with plenty of living and outside space. Thanks Mariam for helping make our stay so memorable.

A Special Place

  • 5 of 5

This house delivers more than it promises on the label. The description, which easily convinced us to book it, is far exceeded by the reality after we arrived. The gardens are huge and well maintained by Jim. One could hold a large football match there in comfort. Inside the house is designed to live in. Space again is the thing......a great big kitchen, fully equipped, three spacious bathrooms and showers, spacious living/dining room to easily accommodate a crowd, sumptuous sleeping quarters. WiFi, keeps younger ones tuned in. Miriam and Andrew (owners) are just a phone call or two minutes away, attentive and genuinely caring. The area....Aughris Pier for jumping is a (bi)daily must around high tide and the cliff walk there is spectacular, Knock and Croagh Patrick are only an hour away, the people are modest and very courteous drivers, Easkey castle with its hidden steps allow braves to scale the walls, Ox Mountain and the Hill of Knocknashee are highly recommended, Carrowmore megalithic cemetery reminds us of our ancestors and the easy walk/climb at Knocknarea offers splendid views, the beach at Enniscrone is safe and goes on forever. This is only a taster of what is on offer in an area that is unspoilt and modestly marketed. There is lots to keep all ages amused in this lovely part of Ireland. Dermot and Bernie and family, Tyrone.
