Once the gatehouse of the entrance to the local Manor house and built by a priest in 1852, Warleigh Lodge has been renovated and now presents a high standard of accommodation within a rural setting. With views across the Tamar to Cornwall and the surrounding countryside, Warleigh Lodge offers a tranquil haven but is only a 10 minute drive away from Plymouth. Dartmoor, championship golf courses, English Heritage and National Trust properties are all within a 15 minute drive. The accommodation (all on one level), includes master bedroom with 4 poster and en suite bathroom, double bedroom with King size bed, twin bedroom, family bathroom, kitchen, lounge (with open fire) with gas fired central heating throughout. The property has been recently improved with a brand new kitchen and a conservatory dining room with panoramic views across the surrounding countryside. The conservatory has double sliding doors so that you feel as if you are outside in the garden! It also has a sofa bed (with sleeping area 3' 8" wide) and a 3' fold up bed allowing temporary additional sleeping opportunities. There is additional electric heating provided in the conservatory to ensure that it is warm inside even if it is snowing outside! Private parking for 2 cars within the grounds. Maximum 2 well behaved dogs allowed charged at £20.00 each per week or part thereof. The garden is part laid to lawn and partly left wild to encourage local wildlife. We have seen in the garden pheasants, bats, hedgehogs and the garden overlooks the local farm where sheep frequently graze.

Why Barry Morris chose Plymouth

Only a few minutes away from the A38 (the dual carriageway road that runs across Devon) but in the countryside - that is one of the great benefits of Warleigh Lodge. Cornwall is 10 minutes away, Dartmoor is 10 minutes away, Plymouth Town Centre is 20 minutes away and we can get to The Eden Project in an hour. Golf courses abound locally, National Trust and English Heritage properties are all within easy reach.

Water sports, archery, go kart racing, steam railways are all in this area. There are also some famous beaches nearby. But most of all, is the peace and tranquility.

What makes this cottage unique

Peace and tranquility in a property that has character. Views of the across rolling countryside on 3 sides of the Lodge. In the mornings you awake to birdsong. Breakfast in the new conservatory looking across the river or enjoy a glass of wine of an evening and watch the sunset - your choice.

In the winter, warm yourself in front of the roaring log fire in the lounge.

Comfortable, relaxing with beautiful views

Lovely lodge, tucked away with beautiful views. Well placed for Devon, Cornwall and Dartmoor. Everything was clean and tidy. 5 minute walk to local pubs and shop. Would love to come back again.

Great property with far reaching views stunning.

Property listed as two bedrooms so when we arrived and found there was three and a fantastic new addition of a great conservatory we were delighted. The cottage is lovely with fantastic views. Could not fault it. Would recommend anyone to stay there.

Further Details:

Nearest supermarket is Tesco just 10 minutes away. All major supermarkets are available in Plymouth. Local shops and local pubs are a 5 minute walk away.

Booking Notes:
Booking deposit is £250. Remainder due 90 days before arrival date. We reserve the right to request a larger deposit for busy periods such as school holidays. A cleaning deposit of £200 is additional and is required when the balance is paid. It is fully refundable within 7 days of departure subject to the condition in which the property is left on departure and also no damage. Property must be left clean and tidy for full refund. Rental includes linen, towels, electricity etc. Dogs are £20.00 extra each, per week.

Changeover Day:
Usually Friday or Monday. Short breaks are available and start day is flexible. Short breaks are charged at 65% of the 7 night price. We do accept single night bookings on occasion - prices and availability available on request only.

  • Outside: Set in 1/4 of an acre of mature gardens most of which is laid to grass. Some areas have been left natural to encourage wildlife. We have seen pheasants in the garden two years running. Garden table and 6 chairs, 2 benches, sun loungers and barbecue. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All towels and bed linen supplied but please bring your own towels for the beach.
