Gardener's Cottage

Gardener's Cottage is a cosy cottage enjoying a peaceful location surrounded by farmland. It has been designed and furnished with comfort in mind and is very well equipped for holiday makers. The lower floor of the cottage is open plan with a welcoming sitting area with electric stove, TV/DVD with Freeview, CD player, a dining area and kitchen. The dining area comfortably seats four adults plus a high chair. The kitchen is well equipped with an oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine/dryer. Upstairs the cottage has two bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room. There is an additional bathroom with a bath. The bedrooms can be arranged as either double rooms or twin, and are large enough to accommodate a cot. All linen and towels are included in the price of your holiday. The cottage is prepared to the highest standards before your arrival. Any queries or problems are dealt with promptly by Liz who is available at most times to resolve any issues.

Allanbank Cottages are situated in the beautiful Scottish Borders. We offer flexible and comfortable accommodation in our three cottages. We are perfectly located for guests who are looking for a relaxing break and for those who want to explore the many attractions of the Borders and North Northumberland. We are within easy distance of Edinburgh and Newcastle for guests wishing to visit those vibrant cities. Owners Liz and Mike Hardy live on site with their family and will offer you a warm welcome and help to make your holiday or short break a great experience. We can arrange fishing for you in season, and as home to Allanbank Arts, guests are welcome to take part in our programme of art classes or to book individual or group tuition in our beautiful art studio. Dogs are welcome in our two larger cottages.

About Liz Hardy

Liz and Mike Hardy have lived at Allanbank Courtyard in the beautiful Scottish Borders with their family since 2007. We moved from Edinburgh to enjoy a quieter life and a more rural upbringing for their 5 children. Liz works at Allanbank full time, combining running the cottages with managing our small art's centre and refurbishing furniture. Mike is a teacher at a local school. We live next door to the cottages, so are usually on hand to help.

The eastern side of the Scottish Borders is a bit of a hidden gem. The coastline is stunning, the local towns quiet and attractive, and there is great walking, cycling and fishing all nearby. The area is rich with history, and if castles and stately homes are your thing - we have them in abundance!

What makes this cottage unique

At Allanbank Holiday Cottages we go the extra mile for all our guests. We can arrange art tuition/yoga sessions for you and you are welcome to join any of our activities in the studio. We can recommend local places to eat, and things to do, and will even give you a lift to the local pub if you give us some notice!

Booking Notes:
To book Groom's Cottage, Gardener's Cottage or The Coach House you can call Liz Hardy or email.

A 20% deposit is usually payable but this is dependant on how far in advance you book. The balance is usually due two weeks before your stay, however this again is negotiable depending on how far in advance you book.

Booking usually run from Saturday to Saturday however short and mid-week breaks can be accommodated.

Changeover Day:
Bookings usually run from Saturday to Saturday, however this is negotiable, and short breaks and long weekends can be accommodated.
Bookings usually run from 3pm on the day of your arrival, and departure is by 10am. This can however be flexible.

Notes on prices:
Prices for full weeks are shown. Short breaks and long weekends can be accommodated and prices adjusted accordingly. For guests staying longer than a week prices can be negotiated. Price includes all linen, towels and heating.

Outside: Allanbank Cottages are set within the gardens of Allanbank Courtyard. Groom's and Gardener's each have their own small patio with garden furniture and barbecue. The Coach House has a rose garden to the rear with a large patio space and garden furniture.

Lovely Quiet Residence

The cottage was ideal for a short beak in the Scottish Borders north of Berwick. The property was warm and cosy with good quality electric heaters and the kitchen adequately provided for. The local town Allanton provided a excellent pub - the Allanton Inn (www.allantoninn.co.uk).
