House in Sayalonga, Nr. Competa, Costa del Sol, Spain - Peaceful Location, 3 Minutes Drive To Village Centre Or 10-15 Minutes On Foot

Directly above the white village of Sayalonga, you could be amongst our very first guests to stay in our brand new property. The "Casita" is only a 600m drive up from the village car-park all the way to your private, secure parking. We hope you'll be astounded by the breathtaking, panoramic views of the surrounding sierras and 3 more of the area's typical white villages. We have a spectacular stairway which leads down to the accommodation; which also enjoys two private terraces where you can sunbathe, barbecue and generally relax. If you wish to travel further afield the motorway access is excellent and will lead you to all the beaches, golf, towns and cities that you might want to enjoy as well as all the features this wonderful location has to offer. Unfortunately, it's impossible for a written description or photographs to do justice to either the accommodation or it's location. We think it's always better to be delighted with your choice when you arrive than disappointed!

About the Owner

We are a married couple of a certain age group (!) who have been living here in Sayalonga for 6 years; although we moved to Spain from north Wales almost 9 years ago. Before settling in this very special village, we were able to live in a number of surrounding towns and villages until we made the decision of where to buy our home. AND - we love it here, for reasons too numerous to mention. We are both professional artists and work from our studio in the house. We both enjoy the pleasure of meeting new people and introducing them to the delights of this part of the world.

Last year was the first season of our new venture.

Great winter break

The photos of the house looked great on the website and the reality did not disappoint. The accommodation is lovely; clean, modern, nicely furnished and well maintained. However what is more striking is the amazing setting. We stayed in January and enjoyed the winter sun. Great for walking and sightseeing but when the temperatures are higher then the terraces would come into their own.

Mark and Jennifer were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed meeting them. We would highly recommend this property.

Relaxing holiday

We stayed for ten days in July and had a fabulous time.The accommodation was as described, contemporary and spotlessly clean. The views were amazing.The owners were friendly and helpful. Good local restaurants and bars and lovely walks. Will definitely return.

Beautiful place in idyllic location

Where do I start? My boyfriend and I stayed here for a few day's over Valentine's Day and had a wonderful time here. The casita is gorgeous, very nicely decorated and homely, with the most incredible views! Sayalonga itself is a lovely quaint little town with an adequate number of bars/restaurants and a very relaxed atmosphere. It was perfect! I would recommend this place to anyone, it is the perfect place to get away and relax, it is so peaceful and the views are just stunning! And furthermore the owners are such kind, friendly people who made us feel more than welcome. I would love to return at some point in the future :)

From the Owner

This is a fantastic area for us to live as it has all the benefits of a rural location with none of the drawbacks. It's away from the frantic bustle of the coastal resorts but, when we want to join the crowds for fiestas and festivals, or just take a dip in the Med. we're only a matter of minutes away by car or bus. The views from our home are totally spectacular and had to be something very special, as we lived in one of the most glorious parts of north Wales before health problems prompted our emigration to this part of Spain. Yes, it was a wrench, but we are now settled and have become part of our local community. Because the motorway is so near (15 minutes) it is really convenient to travel to all the major cities in Andalusia and enjoy everything they have to offer.

Activity and Interests


The nearest beach at Algarrobo Costa is 20 minutes by car. Torre-del-Mar 20/25minutes and Nerja 25 minutes. Plus ALL the other beaches between those stated. (All times are average).


Malaga airport is about a 40/45 minute drive from the property.

A car is not essential but recommended (personal choice and level of physical ability will determine this).


Sayalonga 800m. Velez-Malaga 25 minutes. Torre-del-Mar 25 minutes. Nerja 25 minutes. Lake Vinuela 30 mins.

Granada (La Alhambra) 2 hours. Cordoba (The Great Mosque) 2hrs 15mins.

Antequera (El Torcal and prehistoric dolmens) 1hr.15 mins. Sierra Nevada 1hr 40 mins. to 2 hours.

Gibraltar 3hrs. Marbella/Puerto Banus 2hrs.

Further Details:

Although small, most of the usual amenities are available in Sayalonga, including a museum and art gallery.

There's a bank, pharmacy, 2 supermarkets, various small shops, a tobacconist, post office, library, municipal market and Friday street market.

There are also 4 or 5 bars/restaurants. Everything can be bought in the village, should you not wish to travel.

The municipal swimming pool and cafe-bar are open from the end of June until mid-September. There is also a toddlers' pool next to the cafe.

We are close to a number of other typical "pueblos blancos" - the famous white villages of this region. 15 minutes from Competa or Archez then the roads lead on to Canillas de Albaida, Corumbela and beyond.

There's a large shopping mall near Torre-del-Mar and a water park (Aqua Velis). Lidl have a store at Algarrobo Costa, and Mercadona have a recently opened supermarket in the same location. There are a wealth of activities to be enjoyed within easy reach of our property.

From the Owner

Our home is really well situated. We are OF the village but not IN Sayalonga. At only 800 metres from the main plaza, we are within walking distance, and enjoy very interesting views down to all the pretty white-painted houses and terracotta rooftops. We are able to see 3 other white villages from our terraces and have a panoramic vista of the surrounding sierras - literally breathtaking. In winter we can often see the Rif mountains in Morocco and also have views of Gibraltar across the sea to the West. All this and none of the hassle and disadvantage of having to drive out on an unmade road full of ruts and holes. Neither do we need a 4x4 vehicle in order to get around, thank goodness. The road to our home is concrete all the way from the main road to our front door.

  • Notes on accommodation: U.K. authorities have just launched a new satellite. This means that we are no longer able to receive English language T.V.in this part of Spain.. There are a number of companies working on suitable solutions and we hope to resolve the situation soon. Demand is high, so we are on a waiting list. It might be an idea to bring some D.V.D.s with you (we have some here, but they might not be to your taste). Outside: 47sq.m of terrace. 2 sun beds, parasol, outdoor dining table and 2 chairs (main terrace). Bistro table and 2 chairs on bedroom terrace Utility Room: Freezer, washing machine, barbecue, clothes drying rack, sun parasol. Extra storage space for luggage or hiking gear (for example) if needed. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels, beach towels and bed linen are included. Linen changed and accommodation cleaned once a week. *PLEASE NOTE: Electricity is metered at a cost of 20 cents per unit and is subject to suppliers price changes. We charge at cost NOT for profit. Other: Opposite the bathroom, between the bedroom and salon/kitchen, there is a built-in clothes cupboard, iron and ironing board and shoe rack.
