About the Owner

I have always loved St Ives and when the opportunity arose to move here I grabbed it with both hands! Myself, my sister and brother in law bought Corner Cottage and although they never got to move here themselves......I did and have lived in St Ives now for over eleven fabulous years. I love it. Julie.

This was a lovely, clean and traditional cottage. The location was fantastic, minutes to the beaches, restaurants and shops. Parking was a gift, especially in St Ives! I would highly recommend it for your stay and we will certainly return.

Great cottage, Great location

  • 5 of 5

We had a great week at Corner Cottage in St Ives. The cottage is in a great location close to great beaches and restaurants and is very well appointed and a decent size too. Two good sized bedrooms, a lovely bathroom, very comfortable lounge and beautiful dining kitchen. The cottage was very clean and we felt very welcome. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage to anyone and would happily come back again.

Lovely cosy lounge, huge kitchen with all amenities, very clean. Two great bed rooms and a large bathroom with a bath (quite rare in St Ives!) Light and airy, in a fantastic location, and with parking. We had a fantastic time, and will be back soon, and have already recommended corner cottage to friends.

Delightful cottage & perfectly located + parking!

  • 5 of 5

Corner Cottage was an absolute delight to stay in & really made our first trip to St Ives a dream.

The location of the cottage couldn't be any better - right in the center of the town & being within walking distance of all of the main shops, restaurants, harbour & beaches was brilliant (especially being 7 months pregnant!). Porthmeor beach was within 30 seconds walk from the cottage & was lovely to pop down there a few times a day to watch the surfers & go to Porthmeor Beach Cafe (which serves up a great breakfast!).

The cottage itself was very well presented, clean, comfortable & the kitchen was well equipped to be able to cook an evening meal (which we did very rarely as the restaurants in St Ives are excellent).

Julie was an excellent host & met us on our arrival to show us into the cottage. She even popped into the back of our car to show us how to navigate the one way streets around St Ives to find the allocated parking space. I can't say how useful the parking space was - being able to leave St Ives for day trips & knowing that you had your own safe car parking space to come back to was excellent (I can imagine in the peak season that finding a long term parking space could be an issue). Communication with Julie was great - she was quick to respond to messages & returned our damage deposit very quickly also.

We wouldn't hesitate to re-book Corner Cottage again on our next trip to St Ives & would most definitely recommend booking this cottage over others we had looked at.

An authentic fisherman's cottage

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is one of the nicest we have stayed in. So close to everything. The cottage was warm and cosy and is done up very tastefully. The kitchen was my favourite place. Deceptively big with everything you need including a tumble drier.

Brilliant

What a beautiful cottage. It has everything you need and was clean and tidy. It is perfect as a base for exploring Cornwall or for lounging around and relaxing in. The cottage is centrally located in St. Ives with all the shops, bars and restaurants within a five minute walk. We booked the cottage in the week before we stayed and it couldn't have been easier. Julie, the owner made everything so easy and everything was ready for our arrival.

Location

From the Owner

We bought Corner Cottage as we loved the house and it is in such a fabulous location. The Digey is a lovely old cobbled street and is in the very heart of the town, the area commonly know as Downalong. The place is full of character, with narrow streets and lanes just waiting to be explored. There are superb shops and restaurants practically on your doorstep. Added to that the beach is just a stones throw away from the cottage and you can literally see the sea from the front door....how fabulous is that?! Not to mention that the harbour and the other beautiful beaches that surround Downalong are all within a ten minute walk.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

Beaches, five in total are all within walking distance of the cottage. The closest being the surfing beach of Porthmeor, less than a minute's walk from the cottage and the furthest being Porthminster beach, approximately a 10 minute's walk.

Travel:

St Ives is approximately a 45 minutes drive from Newquay Airport.

A Taxi from the St Erth train station (London Paddington to Penzance main line service) to St Ives is approximately a 10-15 minute journey.

St Ives train station is approximately 15 minutes walk or a 3/5 minute taxi journey.

Further Details:

St Ives is often described as Cornwall's 'Jewel in the Crown' and is one of the UK’s most sought after holiday destinations.

With its temperate climate and with not one but five golden sandy beaches, clear Atlantic waters and fabulous coastal scenery, it can't fail to impress. It's narrow streets, fashionable shops, restaurants, bars an cafe's all make St Ives a must visit destination.

For Art lovers St Ives is host to the Tate Gallery, the Barbara Hepworth Museum and the Leach Pottery as well as over 25 commercial art galleries. There is also the St Ives School of Painting for those who wish to participate themselves. Classes can be booked in advance.

For those who wish to explore further, St Ives is well positioned with the north and south coast only a twenty minute drive apart. it is very easy to explore the very different scenery of Cornwall, coastal and inland, without having to travel very far.

Facilities

From the Owner

The cottage is located in The Digey right in the heart of St Ives and is on the sunny side of the street. It has a light and airy feel and although not 'enormous' the cottage does benefit from being bigger than some of the other cottages in the immediate area. Being one floor up from street level this also gives a measure of privacy. You can open the stable door, sit on the step, catch some rays, read a book or just people watch. Or, just stand and gaze at the sea. Something I've done many a time myself!
