This house originally was the manor house of the village with a chai attached to the back where all the wine was produced. Some of the barrels are still there. It has been carefully and lovingly restored to its original state without unnecessary modernisation except for a new efficient hot water system, central heating in every room. All the details have been preserved in keeping with the lifestyle of the original inhabitants who built the house in 1850 as a working vineyard Maison de Maitre. All the original floors still exist and as a result they are perfectly and pure 'shabby chic'. Newly decorated with king size beds and pure cotton linen throughout. The kitchen is adequately equipped for the most decerning gourmet with a Paul Bocusesignature stove with double electric ovens and gas hobs. Comfortable as a dining/sitting area. New saltwater swimming pool 10 x 5 metres. Dining areas outside to enjoy views of surrounding coutryside and setting sun. This fantastic area of Aquitaine includes world leading vineyards, huge pine forests, and a beautiful coastline with amazing endless soft sandy beaches.

shellfish.
Lovely secluded property that we absolutely loved! It is a perfect getaway from our busy lives. We all enjoyed the great swimming pool where we could relax in a noise free environment. Malcolm was a great source of information and couldn't be more helpful. We loved all aspect of the property. Very easy to get to local supermarkets, shops and restaurants. We ate at "La Petite Gironde" in Lespare which was wonderful! Great host too! They were 9 of us, and we never felt short of space or bathrooms. We all recommend this property and will definitely come again.:-)
The house is a lovely traditional French manor house. The rooms are of a lovely scale and have a shabby chic comfort. There is lots of space inside and out and plenty of facilities - we all of course loved the pool. There were bikes but not very usable as need a good service. Ping pong table fun and lovely pergola area and BBQs for outside dining. Kitchen very well equipped with everything you could need.
Some of the bedding was a bit 'tired'. Some sheets and pillows could do with replacing. Would strongly advise asking for an estimate of utility bills which are charged separatelly on top of rental fee. A large chunk was deducted from our deposit to pay for gas and electricity which we have not experienced elsewhere.
Overall a great place to stay and would recommend.
This is a beautiful old French Manor house which has been lovingly restored without losing it's original charm. It's very spacious making it ideal for families. The kitchen is huge and fantastic for cooking, there's also a great bbq area. Our 1 year old loved the shallow part of the swimming pool, spending many happy hours playing there. Nearby the beaches at Hourtin Plage and Pin Sec are beautiful with great restaurants and cafes. The lake Hourtin Lac is perfect for small children. The town of Pauillac is also worth visiting. The beds are big and comfy and the views from the bedrooms are stunning. All in all a perfect, relaxing place to stay in the French countryside which we would highly recommend.
