Provencal villa with private pool, pool house and landscaped gardens with views.

Updated: 22-Nov-2016
Villa near Callian, Var, Provence-Alpes-Cote DAzur, France - Peaceful, scenic location, 5-10 minutes’ walk from two Provencal Villages.

La Cachette is a lovely Provencal villa set in a large private garden with beautiful views. It benefits from a private outdoor pool, as well as a spacious pool house and summer kitchen. The house, pool and grounds are hidden away among oak trees and olive terraces, ensuring a private, secluded feel. A five-minute walk up the steep hillside leads to Montauroux, with a busy market, traditional village shops and cafes and maze of village lanes. A ten-minute walk will get you to the ancient village of Callian, which has a beautiful village square surrounded by local restaurants and cafes which really come alive at night. There are a range of supermarkets within easy driving distance.

Guestbook comments from the owner

“The house is absolutely lovely, very comfortable and well equipped, in a lovely location! The pool is wonderful. Highly recommended!”

Nuala Lucas, August 2013

"We had a wonderful stay in this villa. Firstly, the landscape of the area is really beautiful, while pretty Montauroux and Callian are walking distance. We found some wonderful restaurants, especially in nearby Fayence (eg. La Farigoulette). The location was really convenient to tour the main sights of the Cote D'Azur, including the spectacular Corniche drives near Nice and beautiful views at Eze. We enjoyed the Perfume Museum in nearby Grasse - our 6 year old daughter particularly loved it."

Patsy & Simon, May 2013

“You've got a beautiful home and thank you so much for sharing it with us, everything we needed was there and it felt like a home and not like a rental. You have been brilliant hosts, no matter how small a a problem you guys where there to get it sorted.

Simply perfect

  • 5 of 5

Having rented many properties in the area, La Cachette is by far the best we've stayed in. It has the feel of a villa which is 'owned' rather than just rented..i.e. it is superbly well equiped and looked after.

Spacious and separate seating areas around the pool and terrace, the pool kitchen with BBQ, the pool itself and the garden all make this a wonderful place to stay with friends or family. The other huge bonus, which is not always possible in the area, is that the two villages nearby are in walking distance, particularly Montaroux which we loved for its shops, markets, square and bars/restaurants. Also, it's such an easy run down to Antibes/Juan Les Pins/Nice area.

From the Owner

We bought La Cachette as a family home and lived there for 18 months before moving overseas for business in 2013. We love the house for its setting and its privacy, and of course, for the surrounding area. With its proximity to the coast and the mountains, it’s the perfect location. With three bedrooms, a spacious living room and so many outside areas, we think that the villa is well- suited to both families and groups of friends. There is a huge variety of places to explore within an hour’s drive, which means that a break here will cater for all tastes and interests. Whether you are looking for relaxation, culture, activity, or the glitz of the Riviera, you’ll have plenty to keep you entertained.

Activity and Interests

Cannes and the Riviera are a 20-minute drive from the villa. Other popular beaches and coastal resorts can be reached within 30 to 40 minutes, including Nice, Saint Tropez, Antibes and Cap Ferrat.

Nice International Airport is a 40-minute drive from the villa. Car hire is recommended in order to fully explore the region. All major car hire companies are located at Nice Airport.

The nearest village is Montauroux, which is 500m from the villa. Callian is 1.5km away, and Fayence, the Cantonal capital, is a 10-minute drive (7km) away. Seillans, Tourettes, Saint-Paul en Foret and Mons are 10 to 15 minutes by car.

Further Details:

The local area is famous in France for its "Villages Perches", or hill-top villages, of which Callian, Saint Paul, Seillans, and Mons are perhaps the most beautiful. The villages are rich in history and culture, and boast some of the best restaurants and bars in Provence, as well as some of the oldest and prettiest churches.

The area is also one of outstanding natural beauty, with Lac St Cassien just 2 km away in the valley, the famous Gorges du Verdon a 30-minute drive up into the foothills of the Alps, and the whole French Riviera easily accessible by car in 30 minutes or less.

For those who enjoy cycling, running or hiking, the area provides challenging but beautiful routes through hills, mountains, wild-river gorges, oak and pine forests, olive groves, vineyards and amazing beaches and coast trails.

On the practical side, there are three large supermarkets a few minutes' drive from the house. The best and largest is Leclerc, which is located on the main road about 5 minutes' drive from the house. For a more local French experience, Montauroux has a boulangerie, a butcher, a number of good restaurants and bars, a post office, a bank and a championship boules pitch; all within a five-minute walk from the house up a quiet country lane.

From the Owner

The beautiful setting and quiet seclusion of our villa are very hard to beat. With such idyllic surroundings, you’ll never tire of the views — especially when you can enjoy them from a sun lounger! With three terraces, a landscaped garden and a pool area, you can really make the most of both the countryside and the climate – two of Provence’s most celebrated attributes. Another real benefit of the property is that despite its rural, secluded location, there are two attractive villages within 10 minutes’ walk. In this sense, it really offers the best of both worlds. It can be hard to find rental properties which offer peace and quiet, but which also have local amenities that are accessible on foot.

Garden The mature landscaped garden is a Mediterranean gem, and has been planted with olive, oak, pine, cypress, lavender, rosemary and thyme. Driveway There is ample parking for three cars, and the house is accessed from a quiet country lane via a secure iron gate.
