What a wonderful place!

  • 5 of 5

From this property you have the most amazing views, the villa is spacious and downstairs bedroom has its own on suite. Upstairs bedrooms have separate bathroom which is handy when you are a family. You can walk to the village nearby for bars and restaurants . We really enjoyed our stay and we will be back!

Very, Very lovely place to stay..........

  • 4 of 5

We found the property very easily after a drive through the Italian mountains (please note the hairpin bends) On arrival we were stunned by the view from the balcony - seeing really is believing. The village is a short walk from the villa where you can buy the basics. You can also grab a coffee and ice cream while watching the world go by and listening to the locals...you should visit the church on top of the hill. There are a few restaurants in the village, although we did not go, they looked very popular.

The property itself, is quaint and an absolutely lovely place to stay. The bedrooms are spacious and well appointed with plenty of storage and the whole of the property was kept very clean. The kitchen was a little on the small side but very well appointed and did us fine for the 6 days we were there. The 3rd bedroom is actually accessed from the first floor (or ground floor) while the main part of the property is accessed from the road as you arrive. The property has 2 bathrooms which would be great if you needed to use all the bedrooms - fantastic space to be in! We went in August 2016 and after the heat of Bologna and Venice the mountains were a welcome break - and there were no mosquitoes!!! My advice would be stock up before you arrive, sit on the balcony and enjoy the view.

I would love to stay here again and would recommend to family and friends.

Fabulous place great for peaceful getaway or outdoor activity

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely villa, comfortable and spacious with the most amazing views. Simona the housekeeper is really helpful and quickly sorted out a couple of problems we had.

Bajardo which is 20 mins walk away is a fantastic village to explore. The little shop has most essentials with daily fresh rolls, meat, veg and other local produce. There are a couple of nice little restaurants our favourite was La Pineta at the entrance to town where we got a wonderful meal along with local wine.

The Coast is about 40 mins away the SP 55 is the best road - lots of hairpins but ok. Ceriana Apricale and Dolceaqua nice places to visit with rock pools at Rochetta Nervina for a swim

Lovely mountain retreat

  • 5 of 5

Just back from a lovely stay at Villa Melosa.

The house is in a quiet location overlooking the mountains and village with neighbouring villas on the same road. The views from the veranda are spectacular and the house was very clean and well kept. We used the fire which was lovely on a couple of cooler nights and watched a great film from the extensive library.

Baiardo we found very friendly and the food and drink in the restaurants good quality and very reasonably priced. It was like going back in time.

Also had some great days out to Menton and San Remo. The cycle track along the coast in San Remo was great fun.

Overall a great value property that we would highly recommend for those who like to explore!

Lovely Village

  • 3 of 5

Baiardo is a lovely, friendly village. 4 nice restaurants, (incl. great café at the dead-end looking down the main street. Food & drink cheap (especially the 'Pizza restaurant' - though at least 1 night per week they didn't do Pizza) but all good quality. There is a great tiny grocers selling most of what you need to survive + an even smaller butchers.

I'm a fairly confident driver but we'd not recommend this area for anyone who really doesn't like driving down narrow roads on the edge of hills and mountains; albeit those roads are pretty quiet. We found a less hair-raising way of getting to Baiardo (on SP55 via Ceriana). Lewis was very helpful in responding to questions but ideally there'd be more info given before-hand without needing to ask (e.g. the best way to get there) & at the house (the info folder was out of date in places and the house could really do with a Guest Book where ideas for walks etc could be written down for the benefit of others). I googled some walks before going & glad I did.

Nearby Apricale is worth a visit if you can cope with the road and we really liked Menton just over the border (90 mins drive by the time you are parked). San Remo was a little disappointing, feeling a bit bleak and faded.

We chilled out on the balcony most nights which was great (Absolute Balderdash and other games there). You can't really see the village from it as trees in the way but great view of mountains.

The Master bedroom futon type bed was extremely creaky for those who had hoped for a passionate time (if kids are in the bunk bed room next door)! Lounge lovely, kitchen fine, upstairs bathroom needs instructions on how to get a constant warm shower (we never worked it out).

The house did feel isolated which made us decide against our 16 year old sleeping in the downstairs 'annexe' (not internally connected to rest of house) so he slept in the bunk room with his sister instead. There were always a few lads hanging around on the road down to the village (a language school?). Seemed friendly but made my wife & daughter feel uncomfortable

Met cleaner as we arrived slightly early & she was lovely & very helpful. One great thing for us (to make you feel you are really abroad) is that (other than her) most don't speak much English and we used French to talk with locals if wanting a long conversations, as some spoke good French, being so close to the border

Great views, quiet location.

  • 5 of 5

The property is at a very quiet location, with superb views. It is a mountainous area, not a hilly area. A few curves up the road you can see the sea in the south and bare mountains in the North! Being above 1000m. the nights are nice and cool, while at only 40 min. you are at the beaches of San Remo, shopping malls etc. You can even go to Nice during the day and enjoy a quiet sunset in the evening on your terrace outside.

Outside is a parking place for 1 car. The house is well maintained and furnished with taste, clean and comfortable. Beds were good (although the main bed could do with some new mattresses). The separate room + shower/bathroom at the lower part of the house looked as if it was brand new. That room could only be reached from the outside with a separate door, which is good for grown-ups, but not for small children on their own.

It is good to reach by car via sometimes steep roads, as long as you take the SP55 from San Remo. You don't want to take the SP54 or SP63 with anything bigger than a Fiat Panda, as these roads are very narrow!

You can walk to the village in 20 min. if you are in good shape. It has a bakery and a small grocery. The village itself offers great views and one or two very small restaurants.

The communication with the owner was good, friendly and efficient via email. You receive a written contract and payment is upfront. Value for money is high.

Highly recommended and we certainly would rent it again.
