About Alexandra Adamson

My name is Alexandra and I live in Edinburgh. My partner is an engineer and I work part time for a property management company. My passion is dancing and my husband's passion is cycling. We have spent many holidays snowboarding or cycling but in the last few years we have slowed down on the sporting pursuits and like to explore new places on foot!

Alexandra Adamson purchased this apartment in 2013

Why Alexandra Adamson chose Edinburgh

If you love historic property and want to experience Georgian character and luxury, you will not be disappointed.

The area is a UNESCO world heritage site and considered to be a masterpiece of city planning.

We have brought an 1840's property to life and the location belies the calm and peaceful feeling you get when you stay here.

The area Broughton has retained it's sense of community within the city, as we also benefit from the local shops and specialty outlets surrounding the property.

What makes this apartment unique

You would be never think our apartment was in the city so we love the fact that it is so quiet but literally 90 seconds (I've timed it) from Broughton Street where we can shop for basics or specialty items. There are so many restaurants, cafes and bars you are spoilt for choice. I love that we can walk to the main shops in and around Princes and George Street and our new tram system is up and running - 180 m and a 5 min walk from the apartment!

Perfect stay!

We had a wonderful stay. A beautiful apartment with everything you need, immaculately presented and cosy. Conveniently positioned for eating out, broughton deli for breakfast and escargot bleu for dinner, both at the end of the road. Shops 5-10 min walk! Will definitely be back, Alexandra was very welcoming and a joy to meet.

Amazing apartment in a fantastic location

  • 5 of 5

Alexandra has thought of everything to ensure guests enjoy their stay. Very comfortable bed, big spacious room. Great shower with fluffy towels and luxury shower gel/soap. Living room is so cozy and great to relax in and the kitchen has everything that you would need if you want to stay in and cook. The location is a couple of minutes walk from York Place tram stop (which is the last stop), very easy to get around either using the tram or to walk to Princess Street & Royal Mile being bit further. Such a great atmosphere around the streets near to the apartment but the apartment street itself is very quiet and safe. Cant wait to return.

An absolute gem of an apartment

  • 5 of 5

Firstly, the apartment is perfectly located for exploring the city and there are a variety of restaurants and food shops near by. Secondly, It is just so comfortable and quiet - we really enjoyed our stay and appreciated the warm welcome and attentive service we received from both Alex and her daughter, Kirsty. Thank you.

Perfect property in a perfect situation

  • 5 of 5

We were able to go straight to the flat to leave our luggage. The property was ready when we arrived and so we could settle in, the owner is very accommodating and tries to have the property available if you tell her when you expect to arrive. Obviously she needs time to prepare and clean but you can always leave your luggage.

The property is lovely and well equipped ,plenty of hot water with a decent shower and very warm and comfortable.

The situation is great with plenty of restaurants within minutes and no distance to Princes street and Waverley station. It is very quiet as on a residential street, shutters keep out the light if you like a dark room to sleep in.

We will use this property again and highly recommend it, the property was as described.

Lovely stay in Edinburgh. Great location. Exceeded expectations.

  • 5 of 5

Great location. Very helpful and hospitable host. Quiet side street in Central location - walking distance to nearly everything we wanted to see. Nice (and varied) places to eat very nearby. All this allowed return of rental car earlier than otherwise planned, saving money. Of note, if returning a car to AVIS - it's very close to their city location.

Key to high review was an inviting memory foam mattress (and soft fluffy towels). Many of our other nice hotels in UK had bad mattresses. The flat was comfortable and great space. Also the price point made this option less than many central city hotel rooms. If in Edinburgh again would definitely try to stay here.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review. So glad you made good use of one the doorstep car hire companies. And using the HomeAway App provides so much more useful info about your stay than conventional googling, so good planning there!! We really appreciate all reviews, which are so useful for prospective guests, in deciding accommodation for Edinburgh.
