Wake up with the glorious sun streaming into the bedrooms and kitchen in the morning and enjoy a cool drink and alfresco dining on the poolside balcony in the afternoon/evening sun for a chilled end to the day. Furnished and equipped to a very high standard throughout, this spacious apartment exudes an air of understated quality and boutique chic. Set in small landscaped condo in the quieter part of the town, surrounded by stunning views over open countryside and the sea, yet only ten minutes’ walk to the beautiful, shell-shaped bay with it's sandy beach, board walk through the dunes and small fishing boats bobbling in the quaint harbour. About Paul Brown

We had been looking to buy a property in Portugal for about 4 years, when late one October afternoon in 2010, we drove into Sao Martinho do Porto and saw the sun shining on the beautiful shell-shaped bay and immediately thought "this is the place". We sat and had a beer in a bar overlooking the bay and, once the stunning sunset appeared before our eyes, that was definitely it - we decided to buy a place here straightaway!! It took our breath away!! We signed up for a Penthouse Apartment in a small complex that was under construction, overlooking open countryside, which was completed in 2015 and, having stayed there many times, we are delighted with it. It really is a stunning apartment which we have furnished and equipped to a very high standard. You will love it!!

Beautiful shell-shaped bay and small fishing harbour. Easy access from Lisbon Airport via A8 motorway (55 minutes). Close proximity to some amazing places of historical and cultural interest such as Alcobaca, Batalha, Leiria, Fatima and Obidos. Short distance to several superb 18 hole golf courses. Lastly, the wonderful local Portuguese people who make everyone feel very welcome. Come and enjoy!!

What makes this apartment unique

There is a real sense of spaciousness and luxury in the apartment and the fact that we have 3 bathrooms means that all our guests have the convenience of their own privacy. Every room has patio doors which open out onto the wraparound balcony which offers wonderful views of the open countryside, the sand dunes at Salir do Porto and the Atlantic Ocean as well as attracting the sunshine all day. The kitchen is a completely separate room with it's own dining area meaning cooking and eating does not interrupt the peace and tranquility of the lounge. Wonderful large swimming pool beneath our lounge balcony. Close to all amenities yet far enough away from the busy seafront to enjoy the peacefulness of the countryside. Underground parking.

The wraparound balcony affords you amazing views over the tree-lined countryside with resident horses, the sand dunes at Salir do Porto and the Atlantic Ocean. Bright and spacious, each room has it's own patio door leading onto the balcony. Beautifully furnished throughout, the bedroom soft furnishings and accessories are colour coordinated to match the en-suites. The luxurious lounge (30 sq. metres in area) hosts a wall mounted 50" HD TV which receives British channels, via a Free sat receiver, and there are a selection of DVD/CD/games for your relaxation and enjoyment. The modern kitchen is fully equipped with coffee maker, hand blender, toaster maker & all the crockery, cutlery, glassware & utensils that you could possibly need to create even the most lavish of meals. There is a secure underground garage with allocated parking to keep your car cool in the daytime sun. Beautiful apartment in a lovely part of Portugal

The apartment is very stylish and comfortable with every amenity for a great holiday. The secure underground parking with lift to the apartment was very useful also. There are many wonderful beaches close by and lots of restaurants of every type to choose from. Sao Martinho, five minutes away has a long , sandy beach and the beach at Salir is just a few minutes drive also. Foz do Arelho, Peniche, Obidos, Nazare and the wonderful Sitio are well worth a visit as well as many other places mostly within a 30 -40 minute drive. Denise and Paul are very welcoming and are only a phone call away should there be a problem. We highly recommend this apartment and would love to return to explore more of this area.

Lovely apartment, nice place, fab weather.. what more could you ask for?!

Two of us lolled around in Paul and Denise's lovely large, modern and spotless apartment for 10 days and really relaxed. Everything was super clean and comfortable and the apartment was secure and very well equipped with excellent WIFI. There's bags of room and privacy if a gang of you go but also great for a couple. The wraparound balcony is super with great views of the large pool and beyond to Salir do Porto and even the sea. We appreciated the lift (!) and the underground parking. We also thought the apartment probably had the best location in the small complex. It's easy to get to, just a stone's throw from the A8 and Lisbon and within easy driving distance of Nazare. Among other places, we also went to Salir do Porto and Foz do Arelho, lovely, and especially liked Sao Martinho do Porto out of season...quiet and really sweet little place. Plus Paul went the extra mile and helped us as we wrestled with the collapse of Monarch so thanks again!

Luxury Apartment, highly recommended!

We found the apartment was well located for exploring places nearby (we had a car and particularly loved Nazare and Obidos) but in a quiet area with a lovely pool and just a short walk from the sea front and many bars/restaurants. It was spacious inside to a high spec, comfortable and homely with large rooms and immaculately clean. The wrap around balcony was also great as you could follow the sun around. We found it very well equipped and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for a holiday. The owners are friendly and helpful too, thanks Paul & Denise, hope to see you again in the future!

Everything you could possibly need

We had a wonderful holiday in this gorgeous, clean and spacious apartment. It is extremely well accuiped. The swimmingpool downstairs is nice and big and the beach is around the corner. If you like to sightsee there is plenty to see and do aswell.

The owners are very friendly and helpfull.

We will most certainly be back!

Excellent apartment

We loved our stay in this very well equipped, immaculate and comfortable apartment. It is modern and attractive and the wrap around balcony means great views. The swimming pool in the complex is lovely and the grounds are clean and well kept. Paul is a very helpful host and we knew that he would assist with any issues. The location is very good and there is lots to do in the surrounding area. We all enjoyed our time in the apartment very much and would not hesitate to return.

5 Star Spacious Apartment with lovely Pool

We had a wonderful stay in Paul and Denise's apartment right from the start when Paul met us at the nearby Hotel. The Apartment was lovely and spacious with all mod cons available especially the wi-fi for our Teenagers. The Apartment, General Areas and the Pool were very clean and well maintained.

We will be back to stay here and would highly recommend both this Apartment and Sao Martinho do Porto

Coast/Beach:

Ten minutes walk to the beautiful shell-shaped beach of Sao Martinho do Porto. Long stretch of white sands fronting the cobbled promenade which hosts the many boutiques and shops, bars, cafes and restaurants, where you can watch the unbelievable sunsets whilst enjoying a meal or drink.

The safe, shallow waters are protected from the Atlantic Ocean by the stunning natural shape of the bay, which is known as "Portugal's best kept secret". Water sports facilities available. Ideal for children.

Travel:

Lisbon Airport is approximately 55 minutes drive away (EasyJet, BMI Baby, TAP, British Airways) and the route is very straightforward with the A8 motorway all the way. Porto Airport is approximately 2 hours drive away (Ryanair). Car Hire is recommended, but not essential, to enjoy the full beauty of this region of Portugal. Airport pick-up and drop-off can be arranged at an additional cost. There are also coach and train services from Lisbon to Sao Martinho do Porto (details upon request).

Obidos: Medieval walled city with castle known as the “wedding gift town that time forgot”

Batalha: Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitoria, classified as UNESCO World Heritage site

Alcobaca: Historic city and Monastery of Alcobaca, 12th century, UNESCO World Heritage Site

Fatima: Well-known Catholic shrine “The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima” attracts worldwide visitors

Peniche and Nazare: World Championship surfing facilities and superb beaches.

All are within 30 minutes drive away.

Further Details:

There is a local market open during the week (except Mondays) selling locally grown fresh produce and locally caught fish. Also, local baker's shop selling lovely fresh bread and rolls.

Sao Martinho do Porto has a InterMarche supermarket stocked with superb value wine & beer and a good selection of seafood, meat and cheese.

Antiques market along the promenade on the last Sunday of every month.

For the ladies, there are some lovely boutiques along the promenade as well as a fascinating hand made craft shop for those special unique gifts.

There is a bank (English speaking staff) along the sea front and a Post Office situated in centre of village, near the Police Station.

Along the sea front there are many traditional restaurants, with alfresco dining available for those balmy evenings, overlooking the beautiful bay with small fishing boats bobbing around in the harbour. Remember to take your camera to capture the breathtaking sunsets!!

Just around the corner from the apartment is a very reasonably priced grilled chicken (piri piri optional) takeaway which also sells home-made soup (gorgeous), rice and chips.

We highly recommend the Nascer do Sol restaurant in Salir do Porto (5 minutes drive from apartment) which serves marvellous wild boar dishes at very reasonable prices!!

There is also a fantastic shell fish restaurant/shop (Aki d'El-Mar) along the sea front in nearby Nazare which is well worth a visit (grilled tiger prawns cooked in garlic & Jack Daniels are out of this world!!)

Enjoy a relaxing walk amongst the sand dunes on the board walk to the village of Salir do Porto or, for the more adventurous, climb the rocks on the other side of the bay to see the remains of the harbour fortifications and experience stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean.

Go back in time with a quaint train journey from the little station in Sao Martinho do Porto to the nearest large town of Caldas da Rainha, famous for it's spas, ceramics and traditional outdoor fruit market.
