Guestbook comments from the owner

The apartment was amazing. I have never stayed somewhere which was so well presented - the décor was beautiful and they had provided lots of books, games and DVDs for evening / wet weather entertainment.

Well kept property, excellent facilities, very clean, beautiful furnishings and décor. Welcome pack was very "welcome".

We stayed just 2 nights in Jaywood and want to go back! The apartment was perfect, I could have happily lived there. It was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. I loved the quilts and homely touches.

Jaywood was perfect, cozy and in the right area to explore. The Forest of Dean was stunning, just needed longer really. Cathy made our stay very comfortable.

Ideal Two Person Base

Jaywood is an extremely comfortable property with all you could need for a pleasant and relaxing stay. It is clean, bright and spacious and has everything necessary for a self catering break. It is ideally situated for visiting a variety of places of interest in the wonderful Forest of Dean and has plenty to keep you occupied should the weather force you to stay indoors. Cathy and David were excellent hosts and the visitors book provides ample evidence of many happy holidays spent here.

Car: necessary

Although a local bus service passes within half a mile of the apartment, a car is highly recommended. We do, however, have cyclists staying. Lydney, the nearest train station, is 10 miles away.

Lydbrook, our nearest village, is less than a mile away so within walking distance.

Symonds Yat is 5 miles by car, Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth are both 8 miles away. Gloucester, with its cathedral and waterways museum, is 17 miles by road and Hereford about 45 minutes drive. There are castles at Goodrich, Raglan and Chepstow and the ruins of Tintern Abbey - all within half an hour's drive.

Further Details:

Lydbrook has a village shop and post office, which provides the essentials - including fresh bread delivered daily. There is a pub in Lydbrook, which serve food. Coleford, 3 miles away, has a range of shops and a Lloyds bank.

Apart from walking and cycling, the Wye valley and Forest of Dean are also noted for their outdoor activities. Canoeing, climbing, abseiling, potholing and riding are all available locally. There is 'Go Ape' 5 miles away and the National Diving centre near Chepstow. Further afield, the Black mountains are 45 minutes drive, and the Brecon Beacons about an hour away.
