Lovely apartment location

We we had a wonderful time week 23-30 July 2016.

The apparent was adequate for our needs and furnished to a good standard with all the required household appliances needed for a stay (saves the hassle of packing everything). The location is excellent for all amenities within both west and east Looe.

In all would rate this apartment 9/10.

fantastic view, superb accommodation !

After a long journey, and the concerns of the final directions to the apartment, it was lovely to be met by Caroline, who initially acted as a packhorse mule to carry all of the overpacked luggage up the steepish slope to the apartments.

Once inside, the initial reaction of walking through to the superb views from the large balcony, instantly relieved the tensions of the travel, and it was great to get all the silly questions answered - " where's the nearest supermarket, where's best to eat, and more importantly - where's the nearest pub ?"

The apartment ticks all the boxes - cleanliness, the best view in Looe,excellently furnished with all creature comforts carefully thought about ( including binoculars to watch the fishing boats and the birds come in and out with the tide)and a very comfortable bed !

Our only complaint which is uncontrollable, is the noise level of the seagulls, who never sleep !!

With the weather in our favour, we spent many hours on the balcony, and in Looe harbour, watching the world go by, bbut did go to Polperro by boat, Fowey, Mevegissy, and a lovely scenic trip on the train to Liskeard ( stay on the train and go straight back ! )

Fantastic break !!

Perfect for 2

I was hesitant about writing this review as I wanted to keep this gem to myself but decided not to be so selfish!!!!.

The apartment is perfect for two (the second bedroom has 2 bunk beds and only really suitable for children) with a lovely terrace and fab sea and river views. Up a steep path so not so great for the infirm but alright for the more sprightly like me!!. Caroline was very welcoming and let us into the apartment earlier as it was ready when we arrived. Very clean and well furnished. The bed and sofa's are particularly comfortable. Well equipped kitchen.

We had a lovely week and watched the local river raft race from prime position. We have already booked to go back in 2016.

Wonderful!

I fell in love with No 1 Harbourside the minute I walked in. The views from the balcony were amazing and I never tired of looking out at the sea and estuary and over to Looe town. I loved the way the harbour was lit up at night, it was every thing I hoped it would be and more. The apartment itself was cosy and had everything I needed for my stay; I simply didn't want to go home!

Not luxury

My partner, daughter and I stayed here in September 2013 and I would not recommend it. Among our issues were:

There were large sections of coving falling down from the ceiling above the beds while we were there. The pillows in the bedrooms smelt horribly musty (not nice when you're trying to get to sleep). Cleanliness of the apartment was poor, particularly the kitchen. The (owner-occupied) apartment upstairs was playing music really loudly from mid afternoon until late into the evening on our first day and there was obviously very little sound proofing between the apartments! Some of the bathroom floor tiles were smashed with loose shards. The hall carpet outside the bathroom was sodden when we arrived and didn't dry out for 5 days. The bathroom door didn't open and close very well. There was an intermittent horrible loud vibration in the apartment when the hot water was used. There was no mirror in the bathroom which made shaving and inserting and removing contact lenses extremely difficult. The plug in the bath could only be removed by prising it out with a kitchen knife because there was no chain attached. The push buttons for the flush had lost their caps so were difficult to operate. The toilet needed a good clean! There was insulation tape holding the shower hose together. The shower made a whining noise when it was at the right temperature. The dryer element of the 'washer/dryer' didn't work which we only discovered once we'd done a load of washing! The cushions for the furniture on the terrace were so dirty that we didn't want to use them.

Overall, not the 'luxury' apartment we were expecting.

The apartment did however have a stunning view.

Owner's Response: This review does not relate to St Georges Apartment. The owners were disappointed to receive this review, particularly having personally contacted the guests following their visit to apologise for the issue which arose concerning the coving (albeit we understood only one piece). This situation with regard to the coving was unfortunate but unforeseeable. The owners were also aware that during the vacation the dryer failed and this was subsequently repaired. The owners did provide a refund to cover the inconvenience. This particular property was in constant occupation throughout the holiday period, and this was the only complaint which was received. The many issues raised by Mel_J following her visit and through this review have been addressed where appropriate. The owners take great pride in this lovely property, which is an outstanding position in West Looe, and do endeavour to ensure that all the visitors to the property have a very pleasant and relaxing holiday. Any complaints received will be addressed immediately, but in this instance the request for a full refund after the holiday was over and the full benefit of accommodation had been enjoyed, was considered unreasonable and consequently resulted in this review by Mel_J, which is considered unfair.

Location

In 2007 my husband and I thought we would try out a little business venture in self catering holiday accommodation...we hunted high and low for a fishermans cottage in Looe but none of them offered views of the stunning coast or harbour. When we saw 2 bed Rame apartment, it was an instant decision to buy....the views are stunning, I've yet to see better. We have upgraded the apartment throughout to a very high standard, the lounge is light, bright and airy with all the comforts of home and stunning views of the beach and river. The kitchen is modern and well equipped and both bedrooms are on suite. The large master has a Super King size bed and luxury shower room, the second being smaller with bunk beds for the little ones. Rame has everyithg needed for a fantastic hoilday.

Special interest holidays:

Looe has a lot to offer and is also a great base to explore other parts of Cornwall. From Paint a Pot to Looe Music Festival, the variety of things to do vary. Each year Looe has its Taste of West Food Festival, Annual duck race, children can enjoy crabbing on the quay, fishing trips, relaxing on the beach, coastal walks, further a field is the Eden Project and a variety of National Trust properties to choose from. You won't be bored!

Coast/Beach:

Looe beach can be viewed from the apartments and is a 10 minute walk away. If the tide is in you can hop across on the taxi boat which is a quaint little trip across the river.

Cornwall is full of lovely beaches to explore, Whitsand Bay is a favourite.

Travel:

You can reach us by Train, Plane and Automobile....There is ferry port in Plymouth (20 miles away) if you are travelling from France or Spain. Exeter Airport (50 miles away), car hire is available from UK airports. Looe Train station is a 15 minute walk from the apartment, I can collect guests with prior arrangement.

Distances:

Looe is a 30 minute drive from the Devon boarder, once in Looe you can explore the neighbouring ports of Polperro and Fowey. For a day out there are all the National Trusts Gardens/Houses to visit. The Eden Project is 30 minutes away.

Further Details:

Looe has everything you need, from quality restaurants, coffee bars, pasty shops, gift shops, a selection of banks and small supermarkets...even Tesco deliver!

Rame Apartment is set in West Looe above the Harbour Entrance, giving the wow factor of the stunning views of Looe Harbour and the Cornish coast line. Rame is beautifully decorated through out and fully equipped for your self catering holiday. One can enjoy the panoramic views the apartment has to offer from its patio or from the lounge bay window seat. Rame is situated in a quiet location just a brief stroll from the shops, restaurants and beach and the foot ferry to East Looe is just a two minute walk away. Coastal paths are on the doorstep, mackerel fishing, crabbing on the quay and a trip around Looe Island on the glass bottom boat is all on your door step.
