About Gary Stevenson

I live with my partner and two cairn terriers in a rural area of the Staffordshire Moorlands which boarders the Peak National Park and Derbyshire. We both have demanding and challenging careers and try our best to spend as much time in Dolgellau to escape the stresses and strains that work throws at us, we find Snowdonia is the perfect place to reflect, relax and re-charge ourselves.

Gary Stevenson purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Gary Stevenson chose Gwynedd - Snowdonia

We love to spend time in the Snowdonia National Park and find that Dolgellau provides us with the perfect central location to all our favourite places. Living In the Staffordshire Moorlands offers us challenging and diverse landscapes but the only thing missing is the sea and the amazing beaches of North Wales have always had a drawing magnetism for us.

What makes this cottage unique

One of the reasons for choosing Dolgellau as our second home was due to the fact that we have the convenience of the towns amenities to include several restuarants and bars, individual and independent shops and a real sense of community. Our cottage is a real hideaway retreat as it is tucked away within a private courtyard and if you didn't now it was there you would probably walk on by and miss it. We feel that we have the best of both worlds here; peaceful and private yet with a few minutes walk to the town centre... We love it here and hope to retire to Dolgellau in the near future.

CHARMING, PRIVATE & DELIGHTFUL

  • 5 of 5

I loved everything about this cottage, from the bright and cheery kitchen to the elegantly appointed sitting room and deliciously cozy bed and sitting area. I parked my car in the public lot and walked all over the village in search of charm and curiosity. I arrived an hour before the shops closed on a Friday afternoon. I circled the village shops and bought a little something from all. I traveled to Dolgellau alone and felt perfectly safe, secure and at home in this cottage. I reveled in the deep quiet of the evenings and delighted in gazing at the stars from the bedroom skylight. I would return in a heart beat.

This is our second stay at Ivy cottage. We returned as we just loved the central town location with great places to eat, drink and relax in, but also the stunning scenery and access to walks. The cottage is excellently well equipped and a really relaxing environment.

Absolutely lovely hideaway

  • 5 of 5

We have had a lovely weekend break at Ivy Court Cottage which is a hideaway within the town of Dolgellau. The location is so peaceful and private, there are great walks which take you directly from the cottage so there was no need to use the car. Dolgellau is a lovely small market town with welcoming and friendly locals, there are several pubs, restaurants and coffee shops; a must try is the Meirionnydd restaurant, it was fantastic. The cottage itself was spotless clean, well decorated and equipped with all that we needed for a home from home experience. We enjoyed having the log burner roaring away and sitting back with a glass of wine whilst catching up with our favourite TV shows! Thank you for such a wonderful stay and we will definitely be back to stay at Ivy Court Cottage.

Luxurious cottage in a wonderful village setting

  • 5 of 5

We are sadly on our way home after a wonderful 4 night stay at Ivy Court Cottage over the New Years Eve weekend.

We have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves for two reasons. Firstly, the cottage is extremely comfortable and beautifully decorated. The bed is heavenly and the log burner and blankets downstairs are a lovely touch for the winter months.

The second reason we had such a great weekend was because of the location. We hadn't done any research before we booked our holiday and we were delighted with the village. There are a plethora of pubs, restaurants and cafes to visit as well as a butchers, fish and chip shop, gift shops and a couple of antique shops. If you like cake you must visit T.H Roberts, a gorgeous bakery in the centre of the village. All their cakes are baked in store and they are delicious!!

We had a couple of trips out to local beaches and enjoyed some lovely walks up the coast as well as following a local trail out towards Barmouth.

A truly wonderful visit, we hope to return again as soon as we can to do some more exploring and eat some more cake!
