The property is to be found down a quiet country lane. It is surrounded by a large garden which backs on to open countryside. The ground floor has an open plan layout with lounge area with exposed stone feature wall and wood burning stove and fitted kitchen/dining area. On the upper floor there are 2 large bedrooms and a small single room all of which offer views out over the garden and surrounding countryside. The local area boasts many historical towns and cities, the closest being Guingamp, Morlaix and Carhaix Plouguer. Callac is the nearest town to the property (15 minute drive), which has all the amenities needed eg supermarkets, restaurants, doctors, vets. The North Brittany coast is a 30 minutes drive and boasts many picturesque beaches and coves, it is slightly further to the south and west coast beaches but they are well worth a visit. The roads are quiet and ideal for cycling, there is a large network of both road and mountain bike rides/trails in the area. There are also lots of well signed walks locally.

bucolic retreat with all cotes d'armor in reach

Great place; we stayed for a week as a family with a young child for hoiday. Great beaches at Tragastel (super dali-esque pink granite rocks); and Plestin le Greves (sand yachts and boutiques - good shoes and clothes); zoo at Tregomeur interesting collection focused on SE Asia inc funky gibbons; Gaulish village still holding out against the Romans near the Radar Dome; Morlaix and Dinan mediaeval. Or just stay at home, chill on the deck or have a bbq in the meadow. Would be a good retreat for a writer. For provisioning all you need in Callac 20mins away. Extremely relaxing and very good value.

Hidden Valley

My wife and I together with our handicapped daughter have had a wonderful week at Magoarou. The hidden valley, full of delights, peace and quiet. At night the most fabulous starry sky. Hidden away but close enough to go on adventures, visiting historic cities and towns and the sea side.

A warm welcome from Jules and Sharon in the dead of night set the holiday on the perfect positive note. No chance of downhill after that. Very nicely appointed, nature on the door step. Very noisy woodpeckers however!!

A very peaceful and relaxing holiday. The patisserie in Callac has items of food to lust after. Overall we all enjoyed the holiday break and Magoarou in particular.

1st visit so good we came back again!

We have recently returned from our 2nd stay at Magoarou and highly recommend this lovely cottage for a relaxing, peaceful holiday. We (myself, my husband and 2 teenage children) first visited for 2 weeks last summer and all agreed it was the most relaxing holiday we had had for a very long time. When trying to decide on a location for our holiday this year we all kept remembering how relaxing it was last time and unanimously decided a second visit was on the agenda. The house itself is well equipped and very comfortable, the location is peaceful yet close to all necessary amenities. We were delighted to be able to use the newly finished BBQ area which is a lovely addition. Sharon and Jules are always happy to give recommendations for places to visit which is very helpful. We ventured to many places and highly recommend Lac de Guerledan for water based activities (at a very reasonable price). All in all another excellent holiday we didn't want to end!!

Lovely Stay

We've just returned from a lovely 2 week stay at Magoarou. The accommodation was nicely laid out and clean and tidy. It was very comfortable for the 5 of us. The garden was well kept and meant you didn't have to go far to spot the local wildlife (bats, buzzards, owls, foxes etc.).

The owners live next door and were really helpful and friendly. We particularly appreciated their flexibility, allowing us to stay an extra night at the end.

It was nicely located for visiting lots of different bits of the local area, with the Northern coast about 1 hour away with plenty of stunning beaches. It was easy to get to all the major towns like Guingamp, Morlaix, Brest and Lannion.

We'd highly recommend staying here and hope to be able to visit again soon.

Nearest Airport : Brest at 100 Kilometres Nearest Ferry : Roscoff at 50 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Plestin le Greves at 30 Kilometres Car: necessary

Coast/Beach:

The beautiful pink granite coast is a 30 minute drive away, with its picturesque beaches and small quiet coves. There are spectacular coastal path walks for the more energetic, or you can sit and while away the time in one of the many restaurants and bars that are dotted along the coast. The west and south coasts are well worth visiting but are slightly further away.

Travel:

Ferry: Roscoff ferry port is less that 1 hours drive, and St Malo approximately 2 hours. The nearest airport is Brest which can be reached within 1.5 hours and Dinard airport is approximately 2 hours. We are happy to provide information on distances/times to other ferry terminals or with other transport queries.

Distances:

Many major historic towns such as Morlaix, Guingamp, Lannion and St Brieuc are all less than 1 hour away. The closest town with good amenities is Callac (approximately 15 minutes by car) with provides supermarket, banks, restaurants, bars, vets etc.

Booking Notes:
We ask for a deposit of £50 per week with your booking form to secure your holiday booking. The final payment is due 6 weeks prior to your stay with us. We do ask for a separate security deposit of £100 against breakages/damage with your final payment which will be returned to you within 2 weeks of your stay.

The house is also available for long term lets from October to May, please contact the owners for further details.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Saturday. We would normally expect departure by 10.00am on this day and arrival after 4.00pm. Changeover days/times may be flexible during low season and can be negotiated with the owners on an individual basis.

  • Notes on accommodation: Please note that the accommodation is attached to the owners property which means we are on hand to deal with any difficulties which may arise. Outside: The house is set in a large grassed garden for use by guests, garden furniture is provided for use in the garden area. A barbecue area is also provided within the garden. There is a large sun deck on the side of the house which can be accessed via the main bedroom or steps up from the garden. The garden is surrounded by open countryside and woodland which means there is a large variety of wildlife that visit the garden such as deer, birds and hares. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen and tea towels are provided as part of the rental fee. Other towels may be provided at extra cost. The house is cleaned prior to arrival at the property.
