The house is a home from home, where you'll relax from the minute you arrive. With a stunning coastline right on the doorstep, there are many walks and places to explore. Just 90 minutes drive from Inverness, Aberdeen and the Cairngorms you can experience the city, mountains and fantastic beaches all in one holiday! The dolphins are seen regularly during the summer and the house makes an excellent base for exploring the area - there is plenty to do from castles, golf, whisky distilleries, wildlife watching, or just simply building sandcastles! The house is the perfect place to escape and totally relax in this quiet village. Findochty (locally pronounced Finechty) oozes character. Wander around the highly piggledy narrow streets with the many multi-coloured houses to appreciate the real charm of this traditional Scottish village. We love Findochty, we think you will too.

About the Owner

Hello! We relocated to north east Scotland over 10 years ago from Oxford, and love it! The great outdoors, scenery, people and wildlife have us totally hooked. Being able to see dolphins on your doorstep is a magic experience and makes us smile - no matter how many times we see them! We think other people will love this area as much as we do so have taken on two very run down properties and turned them into something special for other people to enjoy... You can't help but relax and chill out the minute you arrive in Findochty.

What a wonderful house to stay in and relax. The home is beautiful and all your hard work is evident in the quality of the finish. We will certainly recommend a stay here to others. Many thanks for the goodies in the welcome pack, and we thoroughly enjoyed your company when you visited. We just wish your house was a little closer to Australia (but Liz says she wishes all of Findochty was). All the best to you both.



A week of golf on the beautiful 'Links' of Moray. Great to return each day to this fantastic house with baths and showers for all. Having seen the 'shell' in January whilst staying at Duke Street we are amazed with the finished result. Such a lovely house. Congratulations to Clare and Steve. xx

Beautiful, well cared for holiday cottage with everything you need and more.

Loved every minute of our stay, just wish we could of stayed longer than a week,the owners where very thoughtful in leaving a welcome pack and making us feel very welcome, we knew they where only a phone call away if we needed them and they also kept us informed of any activities going on in the area.

Best holiday let in the village

A beautiful house, sympathetically upgraded by the owners with tasteful decor and a cosy colour scheme. The view from the garden is lovely with stunning sunsets to enjoy. A lovely welcome pack on our arrival and plenty information on the house and activities/places of interest. Would love to revisit next year.

Another amazing week in our favourite holiday house!

This is our second visit and we were just as pleased as last year with the property, it was as good as we remembered. The property itself is very well equipped and everything is of a high standard. We found the owners were very helpful and quick to respond to any queries.

The location really suited us with being only a short walk away from the beach and we found it very quiet and relaxing without feeling too remote.

We cannot find anywhere that matches the property, the location and the price, we would recommend it to anyone we know.

After almost 600 miles driving to Scotland,we were so pleased to arrive at such a beautiful house with such fantastic views. The house was well presented and exceptionally clean with everything necessary to make an extremely enjoyable stay. The house is also in a great location. Nothing negative to say!!!

Location

From the Owner

Findochty is a really picturesque village, with quaint harbour, colourful houses, good amenities and friendly locals. It's such a relaxing place to be you'll feel a million miles away from anywhere. The walks along the coast are wonderful as are the deserted sandy beaches. We love wrapping up on a blustery day to marvel at the huge waves and power of mother nature. We regularly see the dolphins and have been lucky enough to see minke whales along this stretch of coastline too. The nearby gannet colony is definitely worth a visit as is the Scottish Dolphin Centre, where you stand a good chance of seeing dolphins and the resident osprey. Steve loves playing golf and we're lucky enough to be surrounded by golf courses - if we weren't renovating houses I'd be a true golf widow!

The house is situated a short walk from the harbour and several small, sandy beaches in the village. Perfect for kids, sand castle building, fishing and a BBQ.

Travel:

Findochty is located equ-distance from Aberdeen and Inverness airports, both a 90 minute drive away. Cheap flights are available with EasyJet and FlyBe from UK airports. The nearest railway station is Keith or Elgin, both 30 minutes drive. A car is highly recommended.

Further Details:

Findochty is a picturesque fishing village dating back to as early as the 1400's. It used to be a busy fishing port, but the harbour is now home to leisure boats and used for pleasure. The village has an excellent pub serving meals, a convenience store, chemist and post office.

Buckie is the nearest town with all the usual amenities - banks, Lidl, Tesco and a good selection of local shops.

The house was in a right old sorry state when we bought it, having lain empty for a number of years. We've totally renovated it to a high standard to make it a relaxing home from home. We want you to relax the minute you walk through the door! There is wi-fi in the house and we supply an excellent welcome pack so you don't have to venture far on your first day. Tesco and Asda both do home delivery - just order before you leave home! We want our guests to enjoy the delights this fantastic area has to offer and hope they love it as much as we do!

  • Outside: The garden is paved and has the most amazing views! It is not enclosed. It gets the sun all day making it perfect for lazy breakfasts and evening BBQ's at the large picnic bench. Whilst we've made the garden as safe as we can, due to the steps, children and animals should be supervised. Utility Room: Washing machine and tumble dryer Hoover, iron, ironing board, doggy towels, airer, buckets and spades Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen and towels are provided, including beach towels and 'doggy' towels. The house is cleaned between every rental and clean towels and bedding provided in the middle of two week rentals. Other: The dining room is the hub of the house with large oak dining table and six chairs, plus a comfy reading chair.
