Casa Alba is built in traditional Spanish style, yet extensively renovated. There is a garden with figs, oranges, lemons and avocados (guests are welcome to pick what they like!) A sunny front porch is lovely for morning coffee and birdsong - and a large shady rear terrace is perfect for the hotter times of day, with ample seating, barbecue and entertaining area. The pool is south facing and has the sun all day. Sun loungers, parasols and a large Spanish tiled table (crafted by our Spanish neighbour!) make a wonderful lazy, holiday feel. The villa is perfectly located for a peaceful holiday, yet surprisingly close to every local amenity. The nearest supermarket is just 5 mins walk, the same for local bars and restaurants. There is a park 100 yards away, with children’s play area. Tivoli world amusement park is just 10 mins walk. Arroyo centre is also 10 mins away, with train links to Fuengirola and Malaga. The owners live on site in an upper storey extension with separate access.
My name is Alec and my wife is Fiona. I am a retired aircraft engineer, who served in the Royal Navy for 16 years and also worked for BAE systems in Saudi Arabia for 13 years. I am currently a partner in a local property management company.
Fiona has been a Registered Nurse for 25 years. She is now the manager of a British nursing agency, dealing with community and residential care throughout Malaga province. Her help and advice is available to any guests who may have some medical concerns during their stay.
We discovered Spain in 1995, whilst on vacation from Saudi. We fell in love with the climate and lifestyle. Decided then that it was the place for us in the future. We have never looked back, have had a fun 12 years and it still continues to this day!
Fiona wyper purchased this villa in 2003
We finished work in Saudi Arabia in 2001. Throwing caution to the wind, we took the plunge and made our decision to live and work here. On first viewing Casa Alba, as it is now known, we knew it was for us, not just as a home but as a possible investment. Monte Alto is a peaceful, pretty and private urbanisation between Arroyo de la miel and Benalmadena Pueblo. It is a traditionally Spanish residential area, with a small number of other nationalities. The location gives us the best of both worlds. The advantage of all the local amenities within minutes of the doorstep, without living amongst the hustle and bustle. It also benefits by being only 10 to 15 minutes from Malaga airport and a couple of minutes off junction 222 on the main A7 motorway. Easy access to all of the Costa del Sol.
Whilst the Villa is an older traditional property it has benefitted from extensive modernisation. We now live above the villa in a new extension, accessed via the pool area, totally separate from the main house. The villa is on one level, making it suitable for children, those who have restricted mobility or need a wheelchair. The private swimming pool for guests is accessed through patio doors in the lounge or by gate on the front porch. Both can be secured for safety.
Casa Alba is our home and we strive to make it the same for our guests. We are always available to those staying but will never be intrusive. We hope to make your stay as pleasant and relaxing as possible and give you a holiday to remember.
Just back from a weeks stay in Alec and Fiona's villa. We are mum and two daughters ranging in age from 83 to 56
Villa beautifully furnished and well appointed for elderly very safe and secure too with locking gates. The two younger of us enjoyed morning and afternoon walks to nearby park and supermarket and further into Tien which was lovely and enjoyed taking mum in her wheelchair on various walks too
The area the bills is situated in us beautiful, little bit hilly and not great pavements but the road was quiet enough to walk on and lots of cycle paths too which were smooth so the wheelchair was fine. The marina is beautiful and we had several nice meals there plus a train ride into Malaga one day and fuengerolla another.
Alec and Fiona made us very welcome, provided a meal for our late arrival and a huge amount of food and drinks fresh water etc. They made us feel very comfortable and nothing was too much trouble.
Thanks Alec and Fiona you have a lovely home and we had a wonderful family time creating precious memories. Hope to see you both again some day xxx
We are two families that stayed in the Villa recently for two weeks, five adults with two 14 year old boys.
We read previous reviews and thought it was too good to be true but thankfully the holiday lived up to expectations. The villa was extremely well equipped with general household appliances and plenty of bedding and towels (Including beach).
Alex and Fiona were more than helpful even before we arrived putting us in touch with a very reasonable taxi company to take us to and from the airport. They really went out of their way once we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed including a stocked fridge, fresh flowers and a lift to the cheapest supermarket to enable us to get a large shop as we did not intend to hire a car.
The location of the villa meant we did not need a car. It was a leisurely fifteen minute walk to the nearest hub of restaurants where we had some lovely very reasonable meals. A taxi back from there (as it was up hill) was around €6.
The beach area was a good 25 minute walk which we did a couple of times but when venturing out to eat around that area Alec and Fiona phoned taxis from the villa for us which cost around €10 to the marina area.
We spent a lot of our day time around the pool and luckily the noise did not seem to bother the owners. Sky sports was a welcome relief for the boys when the temperature reached 38 degrees.
We would not hesitate to recommend this villa to others. We have already.
This villa is absolutely perfect. Myself, my husband, our two girls aged 9 months and 5 years and my parents in law stayed here for a week during a very hot July. After a 20min journey from the airport we were met by the owner Alec who gave us a guided tour of the villa. It is exceptionally well equipped and was spotless. We had everything there that we needed for a weeks holiday. The welcome pack was fantastic and meant we didn't have to dash straightaway to the nearest shop. The villa is spacious with 4 large bedrooms, all with AC apart from one, which stayed cool all day (although fans were also provided). The area around the pool is lovely and offers loads of shade if needed and got the sun all day. The temperature of the pool was 30 degrees which was lovely. There are plenty of areas to sit and eat, either in the sun or the shade. There was also plenty of beach towels provided.
The villa is situated in a residential area about a ten min walk into Arroyo centre. Here there are plenty of Spanish Tapas style restaurants, you can also get the cable car from here up to the mountain which has spectacular views over Benalmadena and the coast. Tivoli World is also about a ten min walk. There is a Lidl 5 mins up the hill which is well stocked. We got a bus into Benalmadena marina most evenings from the stop up by Lidl, this takes about 15mins and was really cheap. A taxi back from the marina was approx 10euros. We didn't walk to the beach as it was too hot, but I estimate it would take at least 20mins. Please be aware that the Benalmadena and Arroyo area is very hilly and the villa is uphill from the beach and main resort of Benalmadena.
We had a fab time at this villa and would highly recommend it if you're looking for somewhere that is like a home away from home with a fantastic pool. The owners, Alec and Fiona were very welcoming and helpful during our stay.
Thanks for a great week!!
We were two families, with four adults and five kids. Kids range from 2 to 13 years. We arrived late and meet by Alec and Fiona who showed us around and had left welcome pack with enough to keep us going till following day. Fiona drove us to do our big shop next day and even went out of her way to show us round nearby places. The villa itself was just perfect, with everything we could have wanted.Had a lovely Bar-B-Que on one evening and most night sitting by pool when kids in bed. Kids loved the pool and they even had inflatable for kids. The theme park only ten min walk and young and old had a great night there. Down at marina was everything u need from shops, bars, restaurants, water sports and lovely beach. Would highly recommend this villa and what a lovely couple. Nothing was too much trouble. Will recommend this villa. Thanks Alec and Fiona.
Family of 8 with 2 teenagers and 2 younger children. We arrived later than planned so the welcome pack was fantastic and more than enough to keep us going through till breakfast the next day. Alex and Fiona could not have been more helpful even taking us to the supermarket for a big shop on our first day but after that we managed with Lidl only 5 mins walk away. The villa has everything you would need and you really do not have to take much as there is a washing machine and drying area, so stuff is dry in a couple of hours. The kids loved the pool. Internet great for the teenagers! Enough space if you want a quiet time. A couple of bars and chippy 5 mins walk away and a further few mins an nice Italian and local eatery and wine bar. Beach is a good 20 mins walk but down hill when very hot best to get the bus back or taxi, the Arroyo area is a pleasant walk with plenty of eating places for Tapas. Tivoli amusement park is very near and you can get the local tourist road train at 4 euro return but a nice trip down to the marina area, also get the cable car from Tivoli which was a nice trip. If a group of you taxi is 5-7 euro, we got a bus card which saved us some money. The area of the villa is nice and quiet with a nice play park near. We had a great time and would highly recommend staying at this villa, thanks Alex and Fiona.
Just back from a great stay in this villa. We were a family of 6 adults and 2 children (8yrs and 5yrs). The villa is very spacious and all ground floor. The welcome pack is amazing it include beer and wine as well as milk, tea, coffee etc, We loved the pool area which is a beautiful courtyard and has lighting for sitting out at night. The children loved the pool and the inflatables and we loved the comfy sun loungers. I would highly recommend this villa especially for families. Alec and Fiona are a lovely couple, very welcoming and helpful.
