The villages provide a perfect base for your holiday, and the beaches and woodland walks will keep all age groups occupied. The many pubs and restaurants in the area will keep you fed and watered to a high standard. It is within easy reach of Plymouth, the Moors and popular Cornish attractions such as the Eden Project. About the Owner

Park View has been my family's home from 1946 until 1993 when, over a number of months, we converted the cottage into a home-from-home holiday rental and a bolt hole for ourselves and our friends.

We take great pride in providing visitors with a comfortable family home in the heart of 'Cornwall's forgotten corner' from which they can explore the area and relax away from the crowds.

We try to ensure that our guests are happy with their accommodation and phone them as soon as possible after they have moved in. We can then endeavour to put right anything that might not come up to scratch.

Our many return visitors attest to the personal service we guarantee.

Fantastic house in amazing location

Third time staying in this house which is in a fantastic location and village overlooking the sea, of which there are amazing views. The house has everything you need, is warm and cosy and feels like a home from home. Also the accommodation is suitable for dogs and disabled people. Will definitely be staying here again. Owner very helpful and goes the extra mile to ensure you have everything you require to have an excellent holiday.

Comfortable house with stunning views

Lovely week in comfortable house in quiet Cornish village. Well appointed and accurately described. Lots of space. Beautiful views. Ideal location.

However, when we returned home, we were accused of causing damage in the house that we categorically did not do. The cautionary deposit was initially withheld from us but eventually returned a couple of weeks later after several, lengthy emails repeatedly telling the truth and constantly stating that we were not responsible for the said damage, but this experience has ruined the memory of a happy, long awaited family get together.

I would advise any future guests to take photo's or preferably a video of all the fixtures and furnishings etc on the day one leaves to save this happening again to other innocent parties.

Its a great shame as apart from that the house was just what we wanted.

Owner's Response: We have sadly had a very unfortunate experience with this family. We have rented our home out to guests for over 20years and pride ourselves on a very high standard of accommodation & service. This is reflected by the overwhelmingly positive comments from those who stay at Park View, not least of those who return year after year. We do not take lightly the decision to withhold any or part of our guests' cautionary deposit & would only do so when we have a clear case. Never have we taken 100% and only on very rare occasions retained a proportion when we needed to cover the costs of damage. In this case the Housekeeper found a soiled mattress and cover following the departure of this family which necessitated specialist cleaning and therefore incurred extra costs. Having retained some of the deposit to offset costs we then had a lengthy exchange of emails. These contained a series of implausible reasons and counter accusations from them. We decided that the time and cost of pursuing the dispute was not worth the stress that it was placing on us. As such, the remainder of the deposit was returned and a comprehensive report submitted to Owner's Direct. We have had very many fantastic guests who have shown great respect to our home but in this rare case, regrettably something occurred which meant that this was not the case. Location

From the Owner

The Rame Peninsular represents my childhood and that of my children and my grandchildren who in turn have always loved spending time here. Away from the crowds but accessible enough to the city of Plymouth, it offers an ideal bolt hole from the rat race as well as a convenient base for exploring the moors, the Cornish coastline and surrounding countryside. It also offers accommodation to family /friends of couples getting married in the local marriage centres.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

The cottage is surrounded by beaches for every taste - Cawsand, Kingsand and Girt beaches (shingle, 2 min walk), Sandways (sand, 10 min walk) are all family-friendly and have plenty of rock pools for exploring. The magnificent Whitsand Bay (sand, 5-10 min drive) is perfect for swimming, body-boarding, surfing and sandcastles. The hidden Penlee beach is a real gem (Sand, 20 min walk through the woods) and only exposed at low tide. The South West Coast Path goes straight through the village.

Travel:

Airports: Plymouth (12.5 miles/20 km), Exeter (59 miles/95 km), Bristol (131 miles/211 km).

Train stations: St Germans or Plymouth (10 miles/15 km).

Ferry port: Plymouth (from Roscoff, St Malo & Santander) (10 miles/15 km).

Passenger ferry from Plymouth to Cawsand (Easter-Autumn)

Limited public transport (bus) from Plymouth to Cawsand. Car recommended for trips to/from village although no on-site parking available. Nearest car parks are 3-5 mins' walk. No car necessary once you are there!

Distances:

Millbrook (1.5 miles/2 km, larger grocery stores and petrol station), Looe (16 miles/26 km, lively fishing harbour), Whitsand Bay (6.5 miles/10 km, beautiful beaches), Plymouth (10 miles/15 km, shopping, heritage, aquarium), Bodmin Moor (28 miles/45 km, windswept landscapes, horseriding), Eden Project (33 miles/52 km, stunning eco-project). Local stately homes include Antony House (NT), Cotehele House (NT) and Mount Edgcombe. Further afield are Tintagel, Padstow, St Ives, Land's End...

Booking Notes:
One third of your holiday cost is due immediately on booking with the remainder due six weeks prior to your arrival. We hold a £150 refundable cautionary deposit, which is returned to you if the cottage is left as found. We accept cheques and bank transfers.

Changeover Day:
Saturday changeover - departure before 10:00, arrival after 15:00. Changeover day is flexible during the off-peak season. Please call to discuss.

Notes on prices:
During certain off-peak weeks, there is a minimum 4-night stay policy; for those wishing to book a whole week at these times, we have a "7th night free" offer. Please email for full details as this isn't evident in the website pricing chart.

Our ethos has always been to provide our visitors with a warm family atmosphere, in traditional surroundings with modern comforts. The house is in the heart of the twin villages of Kingsand and Cawsand and benefits from stunning views over the Plymouth Sound as well as a suntrap garden in the rear. Since 1994 our visitors - young and not-so-young - have told us how much they love staying in our home. We keep it regularly updated to make sure that they continue to do so.

Notes:

  • Outside: Our garden is a real sun trap, with two terraced areas - one with a BBQ and the other with seating and large table. It is perfect for non-beach days and evening aperitifs! The lower yard area includes an outside loo and plenty of space to store your buckets, spades, surfboards and other beach paraphernalia. Utility Room: Utility area on ground floor includes additional full-size fridge/freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. Cleaning cupboard includes iron/ironing board, vacuum cleaner and BBQ equipment. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Good quality linen and bath sheets/hand towels provided (although please bring beach towels!). Weekly cleaning, with sheets & towels changed weekly. Tea towels, oven gloves and washing up liquid/dishwasher tablets also provided. Other: The garden provides a sun trap for pleasant evening BBQs among the roses and camellias. It includes a large table, 8 chairs and a parasol. It also has line drying facilities and room to store boating/diving equipment in the yard.
