Apartment in Albufeira Marina, Albufeira, Central Algarve, Portugal - Luxury New Apartment Overlooking Marina

To the west of Albufeira centre sits Albufeira's colourful marina. It's a great spot this for passing a lazy afternoon watching people and boats, and sipping coffees or a beer from one of the many chic coffee shops come bars lining the marina. You can tell considerable effort, and investment, has gone into Albufeira Marina. It's beautifully colourful, with dolphin sculptures and more. There's a yacht club here, plus shops, and various boat trips depart from the marina.

We find the area perfect to access to the beach by foot or car. Marina area has lot of restaurants, shopping, children play areas, water sports.

What makes this apartment unique

It has easy accessibility, can be reached without having to enter the old town. Also it has access through the old town as well. Has a Giro bus stop just outside the apartment.

Appartment overlooking the Marina.

We were met by Carlos on time he showed us around Appartment and was very nice. We found a few issues with the Appartment the door handles were not fixed a lot of the light bulbs had gone. Reported this and Carlos came at a. stated time and issues put right.

The Appartment was very good for November very warm sun on it most days. Was some heating but didn't need to use it until last week of our months stay. The Appartment was bright and furnished quite well. Great for 2 people. Kichen equipped quite well oven dishwasher washing machine limited plates if more than 2 people.

But for what we paid very good value for money compared to other 2 bed Appartments there.

I did not like the walk way along the Marina not very attractive compared to other roads there. It was a bit Blackpool like. It looked like they had run out of money to finish the Marina off. But good if you didn't have a car lots of taxis, local buses, open air bus passed through there. Lots of boat trips .Not far from old Albuferia to walk but steep hill to walk up to get there. No real beach at the Marina. Not many shops on site. Many of the cafes and shops shut at this time of year. Dead at night in November.

Would stay there again in October or November. Children may enough it there but would be too noisy for me in the summer months.

Great apt with lovely views

Felt very safe staying here, only thing I would say is need some new sun beds as most are broken. Would love to stay again

Beautiful apartment in great location

Beautiful, modern, bright and clean apartment with fantastic views of the marina. Great location with plenty to do for children in the marina and also plenty of restaurants and cafes for the adults. Only 15 minute walk to beach and old town so no need for car. Would definitely recommend this apartment and plan to go back again with my family.

Has the potential to be really good but not yet...

The reason I chose an apartment was that I felt that it would suit my family needs better, more bedroom space than a hotel room, washing machine and flexibility in dining. This is my fourth year in Portugal and by far the worst accommodation.

The major problem was the beds in both rooms. My daughter actually cried on the first night as the beds were so hard and uncomfortable. When I looked at the mattress I was shocked to see that there were no mattress covers on any of the beds, the mattresses were hard and of poor quality. The only option I had was to use whatever blankets I could find to try and soften the bedding.This did not work. I was advised that I would need to contact the owner , which I did but the beds were not changed.

The issues with the apartment:

Bedding - mattress of poor quality and NO mattress protectors.

Furniture in all rooms is dirty and stained. The furniture particularly in the living room is grubby to say the least and not suitable for rental ( I have a photo of this)

The kettle was leaking - this was rectified.

The bins in both the kitchen and bathrooms are rusty and need replacing.

The pillows in all beds are way past their use by date. Only 2 were replaced. A lot of the lights had bulbs that were not working. Some of these were replaced. There are sockets out of the walls in the twin bedroom and I was afraid that my daughter would electrocute herself.

The dress pillows on top of the beds are dirty and need to be either laundered or replaced.

The paintwork in all rooms needs redone as there are many marks throughout. There also appears to have been a leak near the patio door in the living room as the plaster has bubbled.( I have a photo of this also)

There are other things that could be done to the apartment but these are the main issues.

The pool area is good but it can get quite busy and there are only 10 sun loungers.

It is a good 20 min walk to the beach or Old Town. The marina area is lovely to watch the boats come in and out of but there are no decent shops/ supermarkets. There are also a few bars and restaurants along here. We only ate on one which was good. Avoid bar I think it's call Deck 21 at the far end. The 2 that are there are expensive. We went to Aldi on out first day. This is only @ 7 euro each way.

I really like Albufeira but would not chose to stay in this apartment again in it's current state.

Owner's Response: We have had so many guests who stayed at our apartment. Everyone told us that they enjoyed their stay. This is the first guest in the last 6 years who right from the initial inquires showed distrust. She inquired for rental details from me and then wanted to work directly with my Property Manager and then came back to me when our Property Manager told her that it does not matter whether she deals with the owner or the property manager, we offer the same service and whatever is promised is delivered. She was allowed to check-in prior to normal check-in time. However, she seemed to be complaining right from the day she checked in. In-spite of the fact, that we corrected whatever improvements she pointed out , she threatened to write an adverse review saying that an adverse review could harm our business. I am a doctor by profession and I am not renting my place as a money making business. This is our own holiday home where we regularly visit and stay. In fact, I am intending to celebrate my 25th wedding anniversary with my wife and son on 1st January 2017 at the very Marina apartment which this guest says that she would not like to live in.
