Apartment in Brighton, Sussex, England - In The Heart Of Kemp Town Village

Perfect for groups and extended families this is a great 5 bedroom maisonette with its own front door and a south facing roof terrace. St Georges Road is in the Kemp Town area of Brighton and has a fantastic village feel with many independent shops, cafes, pubs, patisserie, fine wine shop, Italian pizza etc. For groups there is the Proud Cabaret venue moments from the property, and families and groups alike will enjoy the Barefoot Beach Cafe and Beach Volleyball at Yellowave.

All the bedrooms look very similar, I didn't manage to get pictures of them all. Four bedrooms are twins with 2 x (2ft 6 wide) single beds. There is also a single bedroom that has a small (4ft) double bed.

The property is a maisonette with it's own front door on the the ground floor, an entrance hallway and then stairs to the rear of the building. Here there is a twin bedroom and a separate loo. Then there is a small flight of stairs back towards the front of the building. On the right there is a twin bedroom with a window to the rear and at the front there is the kitchen / reception room. This room can seat 5 people at the dining table and 5 people on 2 sofas (1 x large and 1 x small). There is another flight of stairs back to the rear of the building where there is a utility room with washing machine and doors to the shower room and south facing roof terrace. Finally there is a small flight of stairs towards the front of the building. On the right there is another twin bedroom with a window to the rear and then there are two more bedroom (1 x twin & 1 x single) with windows to the front.

I'm afraid we don't do Saturday to Saturday because the property is also popular for weekend stays and Saturday changeovers block out two weekends.

Lovely house and location

We stayed at the house for two nights for a hen party. We were really pleased with the property and with Dan.

The house is in a lovely quiet location yet still a short walk to the beach and a walkable distance from town.

The house was a good size and clean. Another bathroom would be nice as it sleeps 9 people but we actually didn't find it a problem with 7 of us.

Dan's customer service was great. He managed to get us some parking permits for the weekend and even dropped an iron off to us as there wasn't one at the house.

I would definitely recommend staying here.

Perfect for a short stay in Brighton

I rented this apartment out for my 30th birthday with 8 friends. The house is gorgeous and clean with all facilities to cook if needed. Some of us were driving and dan (the owner) sorted us out with permits for the 2 days. Some of us also forgot towels, and again, dan popped over with some spares. The location of the house is great as only a few mins walk from the sea front and local pubs/cafés in kemp town.

I would highly recommend this house for a short stay in Brighton. Great service and great value. 5 stars!

Disappointing

Although never described as a luxury let we did expect the property to be clean and comfortable. However, we were extremely disappointed in the standard of cleanliness and decor of the property . We had to clean the kitchen diner as there was food debris on the floor. We also had to scrub the table three times but despite our efforts the stickiness remained , the rug was very dirty as was the hall stairs carpet. We were only at the property for 2 days and felt we should not have to clean in order to feel comfortable. The only saving grace was that the bathroom was clean, although the shower door didn't close properly and fell on two of our party.

Overall the fixtures and fittings looked tired and not of great quality. We felt that the property needed a good clean and some maintenance . Our student children would consider this adequate accommodation but we feel that it was below a reasonable standard for holiday accommodation at this price. When we informed the owner he said he was sorry we felt that way. Whilst the property was offered at a slightly reduced rate, it does not condone poor cleanliness and maintenance. The property does not compare to similarly priced properties that we have used previously.

We would not recommend this property to anyone especially a friend or relative.

Owner's Response: We had a great summer in 2013 and received lots of wonderful verbal feedback from all the lovely people that enjoyed a stay with us. Our only complaint arose in the last weekend of our letting season. There were some crumbs under a sofa and by the entrance and on the stairs there were some marks on the carpet from the dirty pavement. Fixtures and fittings are high quality. It was a mistake to let this weekend to a family, rather than a group. I gave them a 30% discount (not a slight discount), but on arrival I got a call demanding financial compensation. I offered to rectify any problems, but this wasn't satisfactory to the guest as she was only interested in getting me to pay her money. When she threatened me with a bad review if I did not give her money I decided I wanted nothing to do with her. I didn't like being bullied so I said no. This review doesn't reflect the experiences of many other guests.

We bought this property because the location is just so good. To find a 5 bedroom property in Kemp Town is really rare and we think think it's the best area in Brighton. It's also close to our home, which help being flexible with arrival times...
