Under an hour from both Valencia or Alicante airport, lies Casa Oliva, a 2013 renovated 5-bed and 3-bathroom family home in its own securely-fenced olive-tree grounds with a 10x5 private heated swimming pool. The villa is located in a quiet cul-de-sac just a few steps away from an idyllic Laguna where you can swim or paddle in icy cold water. Or take a hike into town which is only a good mile away. Ontinyent hosts numerous bars, cafés, restaurants, a small mall, a cinema, etc. The marvellous castle of Xativa, which dates back to before Roman times, and provincial town of Xativa is just a 20-minute drive away. The caves and monastery of Boicarent is about a ten-minute drive. The nearest beaches to Casa Oliva are 35 minutes away at Gandia.

About Philip Jones

Having spent our holiday in the inland Valencia area only once we immediately fell in love with its beauty. Valleys, mountains, close to the beaches, friendly people. We viewed a number of properties and we decided to take the plunge and bought the property in Ontinyent. We did our utmost best to design a completely new house making sure it was absolutely perfect for us to escape the everyday rate race. My wife Ann and I are both into teaching and we are self-employed, running a communications business. Our two kids Lisa and William equally enjoy the "fun Spain".

The area is just perfect! Beautiful views from the breakfast area, across a range of mountains. Enjoying cocktails in the lounge area by the pool overlooking the beautiful views and olive trees. It's as if you're in rural Spain, but in a few minutes you're at the local supermarket. You can even walk to the town centre and enjoy a wonderful menu del dia for as little as 7 Euros. Or have a cup of coffee on one of the many squares and watch laid-back Spanish life moving on. It's all you could ever want.

Notes on accommodation: Wifi is available throughout the house and much of the grounds at no additional cost. The villa is securely fenced, with a large entrance gate. There's room for two cars at the front of the property. This property comprises of two floors. The first floor is separate from the groundfloor. A newly erected staircase has been mounted by the front door (which is at the side of the property), taking you straight up. Ideal for two families wanting to have some privacy as well. Outside: The 10-5 metre private heated pool (with stylish mosaic tiles) is the centre of attention when you step out of the French doors. Around the pool there's a vast patio area, covering a total of 170 square metres. Thus providing ample space to relax in the sun. At the rear of the pool a cosy lounge area has been created where you can quietly relax in the shade of the ollive trees. Pool is heated from 5 April 2014. The garage has been converted into a bar area where you can enjoy a drink in the shade at the bar. Utility Room: Brand-new washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board, two irons. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bathrooms are provided with an array of small and large bath towels. Bed linen is provided. Property will be cleaned before arrival.

Wonderful pool

The house is adequate but we missed the dishwasher more than expected. The poolarea is great and I absolutely loved the nice warm water!

Heaven

We'd love to say it was horrible, don't ever go there - just so that we can keep this place as our guaranteed holiday each year, but we can't! We had the most amazing holiday. It's beautifully quiet, ideal location and with the most helpful owner - thanks Phil! Loads seen and so much more we want to see.

Fantastic villa in wonderful setting

Had a wonderful 2 weeks at this villa this year. There were 2 families consisting of five kids and four adults , the pool was excellent and accommodation fantastic. Philip the owner was so helpful throughout our stay, not that there really was any help needed as ontinyent is a great town with lots to do. The river was a particular highlight and really recommend the trips to the coast and water theme parks . After such busy days we had fantastic evenings outside beside the pool chilling and relaxing in bar area whilst the kids were in and out the pool . Really highly recommended villa , thanks Phillip

Ideal holiday home

We as a family have recently returned from a visit to this excellent villa. Our family consisted of four adults and two children. There was more than adequate room for us to 'spread out'. Whilst there the weather was extremely hot so the large pool proved inviting. The villa itself was well equipped with everything you could possibly need.

Ontinyent is a lovely town. Plenty of choice for eating and a very handy 'Aldi' just round the corner. The superb leisure centre close by offering superb facilities was appreciated by all.

We also enjoyed visiting the castle at Xativa and the picturesque village of Bocairent clinging to the hillside. There was a gorge too near Bocairent where our daredevil grandson enjoyed throwing himself into the water.

To summarise, we certainly recommend this lovely villa. We would also like to thank Philip for his help and letting us have the opportunity to stay there.

Fantastic Holiday Villa

Villa Oliva is a great villa and suitable for all ages. We were a large family, ages ranging from a 3 month old baby to an 84 year old. Lovely open plan living room and kitchen with large bathroom and two bedrooms downstairs, which was suitable for my 84 year old mother-in-law and my family with the 3 month old baby. The rest of the family were in the bedrooms upstairs which were a good size. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, dishes, glasses, and all the utensils you would need.

Lots of space outside and a superb swimming pool which the kids loved as the weather was fantastic, very hot. The bar at the side of the pool was an added bonus and we sat out every night either for dinner or just a few drinks. The prices for food and drink in Ontinyent are brilliant and there are three great supermarkets not far from the villa. "Aldi" which is nearest to the villa then "Vidal" & "Family Cash" stocked everything you would need.

There are lots of places nearby to visit so the villa is in a good location.

Can't thank Philip enough for all his help when booking villa and answering any queries we had before we went. Great communication. Thanks again.

Location

Coast/Beach:

Gandia beach is the closest and is a 25-mile drive which usually takes us 35 minutes. A dual carriageway takes you straight to the vast sandy beaches, lounge bars and restaurants.

Travel:

Ontinyent is spot in the middle between Valencia and Alicante airport, thus making it easy to book a flight. We have flown to both airports and it takes us about 55 minutes to get to the villa. Good thing: toll-free motorway. There is also a train station in Ontinyent. Train travel from Valencia (city) to Ontinyent takes 1 hour and 20 minutes. The property is approximately 1.3 miles from the city centre, situated on the rural outskirts of Ontinyent, a 2-minute walk from the river, Pou Oletta.

Distances:

Ontinyent town centre is 1.3 miles.

Xativa (castle) is a 20-minute drive.

Bocairent (caves and monastery) is a 15-minute drive.

Further Details:

Ontinyent is a medium-sized town where you'll find lots of shops, a mall, a cinema, lots of squares where you can enjoy a glass of wine along with some tasty tappas. Plenty of restaurants providing delicious set meals at unbeatable prices. We usually walk into town, have a three-course meal at 10 Euros per person.

All shopping can be done in the town of Ontinyent. There are a couple of supermarkets around town. The closest discounter is Aldi which is only a mile away.

The second and subsequent weeks of any booking are discounted by 50GBP.
