This is a lovely cottage in a beautiful location and we've really enjoyed the summer house. GF

A very comfortable stay in our regular and favourite holiday cottage. F. S.

Definitely the best location in Swanage. We love the "Countryside Meets The Sea" feel. J.S.

We have had a great week in Dorset, plenty for children to do. The cottage was lovely, great for walks locally and the children loved the summer house. Thanks for a great holiday. S.D.

Lovely relaxing time in your well equipped, comfortable cottage in a beautiful location. Two days on the beach and a steam train ride to Corfe Castle. Fantastic walk from the Cottage across Ballard Down to Studland. Sadly have to go home. S. F.

Not enough time to do everything this time. Lovely walks. Excellent location - would love to live here! C. B.

Amazing location - we keep coming back!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at the cottage three times now and have enjoyed our holiday there every time. Our family of five (including two teenagers), love the location. The cottage is situated up a quiet track and is surrounded by rolling countryside, amazing sea views and Ballard Down to the rear.

We all enjoy walking to Studland from the cottage, up the track to the side of the property and up over Ballard Down. Great walking on the door step. We also like the option of being able to walk into Swanage. It's great to do the tourist, seaside bit, then return to our peaceful cottage on the hill.

The cottage has a lovely, big garden. It's great for sitting and watching the ships and boats out to sea with binoculars. Very relaxing. The boys enjoy the summerhouse which is warm and bright and most importantly has table football!

Inside the cottage is always lovely and clean. It's very well equipped - the owners have thought of everything. The master bedroom is big and has an amazingly comfy bed. Very hard to get out of in the morning especially when sitting with a cup of tea watching the sea and admiring the view.

The owners Nigel and Ann were very nice, helpful and easy to deal with. They recommended several places for our family to visit and we've always had great days out. One of our favourite trips out is to Dancing Ledge, then a pie and a pint at The Square and Compass.

We would recommend a stay at Ballard Down Cottage without hesitation!

Perfect Cottage in a Fantastic Location

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is in a picturesque location with sea views from every vantage, situated on a national trust park it is the perfect starting point for treks over the national park leading to Studland Bay, Corfe Castle & Old Harry's Rocks and it is also a short walk to Swing beach / town centre.

The cottage is very spacious, the pictures do not do it justice, our family of 5 had plenty of room! It was fresh and clean. It was equipped with everything we needed. The garden was very large and set on a slight hill which was lovely for relaxing and enjoying the views. My girls loved playing and chilling out in the summerhouse.

Swanage is a lovely town with loads to do, the town centre and beach is quaint and unspoilt. We enjoyed a day at Durlston Park which has many walks with breathtaking views, we spent a long time watching a pair of peregrines!

Nigel & Anne are lovely to deal with and we will certainly be back to Ballard Down Cottage again!

Beautiful location and property

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to Ballard Down Cottage and hope we will visit again in the future as it is a privilege to stay in such a beautiful elevated location. We spent a lot of time just appreciating the stunning views especially from the lovely garden.

Although you feel away from it all in fact all the amenities of Swanage are only a few minutes away. There is so much to do and see in the immediate vicinity that a week isn't enough to explore the endless walks and beautiful beaches many of which can be accessed straight from the Cottage. It's great for cycling too and although not experts we managed to get up Ballard Down which offers a fabulous ridge in both directions and a lovely easy descent to Studland.

The Cottage itself is beautifully clean and cosy and offered everything we required although the views from the master bedroom make it difficult to get up in the morning!

The owners Ann and Nigel are very pleasant and accommodating.

In a quiet spot just on the edge of Swanage with great walking from the front door - perfect for our Easter break. Studland Beach, the Jurassic Coast & Corfe Castle all within easy reach - a lovely holiday!

Our 4th visit

  • 5 of 5

Ballard Down Cottage is a lovely relaxing place for a quiet week away from it all. We love the location, enjoy all the spectacular walking and find the cottage comfortable and welcoming.

After a long walk with lovely views ( available on whichever route you choose in this lovely part of Dorset) there is nothing better than a cup of tea in the garden or summer house enjoying the view and peace and quiet.

Many thanks Ann and Nigel, very much looking forward to returning in 2015

Stunning cottage with fabulous views

  • 5 of 5

Firstly can we say thank you very much for a great holiday. The house is great and you couldn't ask for a better location.

This is a really lovely holiday home very well equipped to a high standard, fabulous views from nearly all the windows & ideally situated for lots of walks close by.

The house is pretty, airy, comfortable in size and furnishings. The kitchen is very well kitted-out (decent knives, plenty of table settings and saucepans). The living room is comfortable, with a decent range of channels on the TV, a DVD player and DVDs, dozens of books and some periodicals and guidebooks. Also, great internet throughout the house.

The bedrooms are a good size. Most important of all, though, is that the house was so immaculately clean, it might have been the first time it was let.

Aside from the house, there's a garden in which it was pleasant to sit out and eat. There's off-road parking. There is access to summerhouse where we could sit or play table football.

In short, a home from home that contributed to a lovely holiday.

Thank you for your kind comments which are very similar to the those of others who have enjoyed the cottage location for walking, unwinding in the summerhouse, or just relaxing - often returning to the Cottage regularly. Warm regards, Ann
