Samsenet in Fowey, Cornwall, England - Perched Above The Harbour, Minutes From The Town & Close To The Sandy Beach and Parking

Samsenet was designed and Built by Sam and Emma 14 years ago as a family home to raise their young family. Choc full of original furniture pieces and quirky art, the interiors reflect the music loving, food champions that have created the well known Cornish Restaurant Brand, Sams Cornwall. Www.samscornwall.co.uk The interior reflects owners interior passion and profession whilst creating a fun comfortable house for a perfect holiday for Family reunions, Large Groups or a family who need a lot of space! The 5 bedroom property has four bathrooms, all with super power showers (as well as an additional outdoor hot shower for a post surf/ beach hose down) in addition there is a sofa bed in the upstairs lounge which provides another double bed, thus sleeping 12.

On arriving at the property, Walk down the few steps to the front or back door and enter the hallway leading to the open plan kitchen and main open plan living area. With under-floor heating throughout kick off the shoes and pad about barefoot – or with flip-flops in true Cornish style.

The property is perfectly situated for all amenities. Shops are stroll in to town (or a bus ride; goes from outside house) fantastic restaurants & pubs and next to a health Spa at Fowey Hall (book in advance). Lots of Parking in adjacent Car Park & 2 Cars on drive. You can easily walk to the beach. A great Sports Centre is located close by. River Cruises by boat and great Watersports Facilities at Polkerris.

Samsenet offers fantastic spread out accommodation so you having plenty of room. There is a Big BBQ, Patio Deck in the garden and a terrace with beautiful views out to sea

from the Master Bedroom and Lounge.

There is a Huge Master Bedroom on the 2nd floor with a large free standing Bath and walk in shower. This has a Superking Bed. This bedroom opens onto a large sun deck with fantastic views over the Fowey Estuary and Ocean. Perfect for a chill out evening and a G and T sundowner. On the top floor is also a second lounge with TV perfect for hiding from the kids or vice versa. In this room is a double sofa bed as said above.

The first floor has 4 large Bedrooms, 2 with ensuite Bathrooms. There is also a separate family Bathroom.

(On this floor 1 x twin, 2x Double and 1x King Bed.)

The first floor has a large Contemporary Kitchen with a Dishwasher, Large Britannia Gas Range, Microwave, Large American fridge freezer. There is a huge Breakfast Bar with 6 stools. The Kitchen opens on to a well established garden with deck area and dining, Built BBQ and outside shower.

The dining room opens off the kitchen down a few steps to the ground floor. Here there is a large dining table.There is a library with a selection of Adult and Childrens books. We have a highchair for little ones and an in house travel cot (bedding is not supplied)

The large contemporary and stylish lounge looks over the dining room and is filled with a collection of Sam's Memorabilia (as seen in his restaurants) this room also has a large open gas fire and a Flat Screen TV, DVD player with a large selection of DVDs.

In addition to the kitchen there is a large utility/cloakroom room with washing machine, condenser tumble dryer and plenty of storage for coats or muddy boots. On the ground floor there is also a cloakroom with toilet.

There is wifi throught the whole house.

There is a town bus that runs from outside house into town & back. Perfect for those who aren't so agile.

We built this house in 2004 after having the perfect opportunity of buying some land. It was a perfect place to bring our family up, with exceptional schools, beautiful beaches and only a stroll to our restaurants for work. The children learnt to Sail, windsurf and spent most evenings on the beach pier jumping and fishing. What isn't perfect about that for an upbringing!

There is an outside shower for hosing off after the beach and a big utility room for drying off with washing machine & drier. Locally our restaurants Sam's Fowey Serves fantastic Fresh Fish, Shell Fish, Burgers and fantastic Quality Meats. There is a lively Cocktail Bar, perfect for a wind down after a day at the beach with the kids ( of course we have Moctails for the little ones!) At Polkerris is our sister restaurant Sam's on the Beach, situated on the waters edge in an old Lifeboat Station. Pizzas, Seafood, Fish and sumptuous Steaks are served here or just sit enjoy a bottle of Muscadet whilst enjoying the ocean View. Our other restaurants are situated in Truro, which is a City dining eatery with a plethora of meat dishes ( Try the ribs; it's a must !) Sam's Diner at Par Retail Stadium ( soon to be the Leisure, Retail and visitor attraction ) next to Kidz World serves authentic American style Brekkies and all day Dogs, Ribs, Burgers, Shakes and Super salads along with our New Sams Skinny Kitsch. Comfortable, spacious home with great views

This was the 3rd time we have stayed at the house. It is in a great spot at the top of Fowey, easier than many homes there to reach by car and perfect for wandering into the town. River views from around the house are beautiful.

The house is comfortable, nicely furnished with flexible spaces for relaxing, cooking and eating. Will be returning next year.

Great home and location for a family stay

We stayed at Samsenet for a two family long weekend last summer. I was just looking at the property again to re-book for this year and the less than positive review was nothing like our experience at all. The house is spacious, luxurious, really well furnished, fabulously decorated and has everything you need - space to chill out, plenty of bathrooms, bedding, bedlinen, all kitchen equipment, it was great, the garden, location and parking made it a hassle free time. The owners were really helpful with information beforehand. I would genuinely recommend this property and hoping to book again for another family event this year.

First Rate Accommodation and Location

An August family meet-up holiday, including 4 kiddies. We all loved the house - wonderfully spacious, the furnishings chic, stylish and fun - SO different from the usual holiday fare. Great sea views from the bedrooms. The house was well maintained and v clean with staff on call if needed, a bonus being parking for three cars.

Fowey itself is lovely with Sam’s restaurants and Pinky Murphy’s top of the ratings. Sam’s food has a deserved repuation, but his cocktails are quite perfect after a day with said kiddies... Boat trips/beach/kayaking all to hand. I would freely recommend Samsenet to friends/family/whoever.

Home from home. Had everything we needed and more.

We had a great stay at samsenet. The house was spotlessly clean, modern and very homely. They even organised a jacuzzi for us as requested..nothing was too much trouble and we even got a discount in they're fab restaurant Sams in Fowey. I will definitely be booking up again this year. Beautiful views and great surroundings..thanks Sam and Emma for sharing your house with us..we WILL be back very soon....

Good in parts

The property is an excellent size with ample room for big groups. The kitchen is pleasant with all you need, the dining area is also great for sitting over a lazy breakfast or evening meal with friends and a nice bottle (or two!) of wine . All bedrooms are a good size. Outside parking for two or three small cars is available on the drive. The WiFi is very good in the lounge area and downstairs generally, it drops off the higher up the property you get to a point that there is no signal at all on the top floor.

We found the property was generally clean, as was the bedding and bathrooms. One notable exception was the bottom of the oven that was well overdue for attention and a very deep cleaning.

The property decor includes some funky fittings and art which is a nice original touch and so much better than the beige interiors of other holiday accommodation. That said, the property could do with decorating. Some areas are well overdue for a freshen up and a lick of paint. Some of the utensils in the kitchen and especially the pots and pans have seen much better days and very much need replacing. The bed linen too could also do with renewing.

We had issues with the booking procedure. Confirming receipt of our payments and general matters connecting to the booking were painful and slow which made the process unnecessarily worrying. Collecting the keys on arrival from the Sams restaurant in town was convenient for the owner but unwelcoming for guests with the waitress understandably occupied with other things - our questions about the property were just met with a 'sorry I don't know' shrug of the shoulders.

The location of the property is great for exploring the local area with the Eden Project, Charlestown and several other attractions within easy reach. Fowey itself is also lovely with plenty of amenities, pubs, restaurants and galleries.

So to sum up, we had a nice time at Samsnet but thought that it would have been greatly improved with a more attention to service and the overall property decorative condition which lets the experience down. We felt the property seemed to be on the fringe of other areas of the owners business and so little time is made available for it and the paying guests. There seems to be a sense of letting the property manage itself or be managed by the cleaner/Sams restaurant staff/other personnel who do not have the time to dedicate to guests.

  • Notes on accommodation: It is possible to sleep 12 if utilising the Double sofa bed in the Lounge on the 2nd floor. Also we can provide extra camp beds for kids with prior arrangement.
