Situated on a peaceful family run caravan park in the riverside hamlet of Symonds Yat West. Sleeps six people, in two double and one twin bedded rooms. Perfect for family holidays or groups of friends alike. Excellent base for discovering the Wye Valley, Forest of Dean, Brecon Beacons, Black Mountains, The Malverns and the green, rolling hills of Herefordshire. There are miles of riverside and forest walks from the door, and five pubs and hotels between 5 and 20 minutes on foot. Other activities one can enjoy in the immediate locality are Cycling, Mountain Biking, Canoeing, Kayaking, Golf, Fishing, Rock Climbing, Abseiling, Caving and Bird Watching. The lodge is equidistant from Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth; Abergavenny and Hereford are easily reached within half an hour by car. Castles and ancient monuments abound in this area, thanks to the battles between the Welsh and English: the border is a three mile walk or cycle along the river. Sorry, no smoking or pets.
Had a fantastic week in this beautiful idyllic setting - the lodge was very comfortable, spacious enough for 6 and clean, perfect for a base to use whilst exploring the surrounding countryside. Lots of wildlife to watch on the site, squirrels, rabbits, etc The kitchen is stocked with all equipment you could need if you wish to cook, or there are plenty of excellent places to eat. Kids had a fab time at the onsite park every morning which was close enough to let them go to alone. Found Tintern Abbey on the way back from Chepstow, a beautiful very well preserved 11th century ruin, well worth a visit!!
Anyone with disabilities would struggle here tho has access to lodge by quite high steps on both sides, and you def need a car for sightseeing.
Log cabin fantastic inside, heating works really quickly. We liked the lounge/kitchen area, perfect for just relaxing. There are 2 bathrooms which always comes in handy! Plenty of hot water. Great to have a dishwasher, large fridge/freezer and microwave, as well as oven/hob.
We took our own barbeque with to use on the porch. Lots of seating area outside if the weather allows it. Feels far enough away from the rest of the campsite. Easy access into the village behind the lodge up some steep stairs. Definitely recommend going caneoing or kayaking.
A great stay!
