Quayside Cottage is located just off the Quay in the centre of Appledore. 2 Quayside, Appledore, EX39 1QS. It is light and airy, with a through lounge and dining room, french doors to a small sunroom, the downstairs bathroom, laundry and kitchen. Up Stairs to first floor, double bedroom, twin bedroom and shower room with WC. Wide stairs to 2nd floor large light bedroom. At the rear is a small decked area leading to the laundry room. Sorry, no pets .

About the Owner

Jenny and David have owned Quayside Cottage for 18 months. We went to visit Appledore out of curiosity, after we discovered that David’s dads first job ever, was there. Love at first sight, totally unspoilt, beautiful quaint streets, Galleries, and for us, live music in one of the 6 pubs just about every night of the week. We have spent a lot of time and love making our cottage homely and comfortable. It has been an absolute joy to stay in Quayside Cottage.It is a faultless, spacious beautiful place where we have felt very comfortable and will be sorry to leave. The owners have refurbished to a high standard, well equipped and still home from home.Being situated so close to The Quay, we were able to to take our coffee and sit watching the boats. Perfect Quayside Cottage

We have just got back having thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Appledore at Quayside Cottage. The cottage is the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in, not just for the location – you fall out of the door and you’re virtually on Appledore quay – but the way the owner has so thoughtfully created a lovely holiday home. Everything you could possibly want from a holiday home was there and more. We have stayed in some places where there was a collection of odd bits and pieces, four plates, four cups etc, but not with Quayside Cottage, the whole cottage has been equipped with such thought, care, and style. Everything you could want to complement your holiday, a great kitchen, two ample bathrooms, large bed rooms, dishwasher, wash machine, drier and of course internet. We thoroughly recommend this cottage as the place to stay in Appledore, we certainly hope to return sometime soon.

A Great Place To Stay

We have just spent a most enjoyable week at Quayside Cottage. This was our first trip to this particular cottage., but not to Appledore. The location is 'spot on', being so close to everything this charming village has to offer. The accommodation is to a high standard and well equipped, especially the kitchen. The welcome bottle of wine and chocolates were a pleasant surprise! Our three children, aged 15 and 11 year old twins even said they could quite easily move in, which is high accolade in deed! We love Appledore and would love to come to Quayside Cottage again.

We stayed during the Summer Festival weekend and the start of the Regatta festival. There were plenty of things to see and join in with. The children especially enjoyed the quay jumping at night. The locals made us feel so welcome.

Appledore is the perfect place for relaxing and doing nothing except watching the world go by, or you can go to one of the many festivals - Regatta, Art, and Book. It is also the place that Dave`s dad had his first job ever.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

15 minute walk to nearest beach by Lifeboat Station. 15 minute drive to Instow. WestwardHo! 4 miles. Ilfracombe, Woolacombe and Lynemouth within easy reach by car.

Travel:

Nearest Airport is Exeter, about 1 hours drive away. Train station at Barnstaple, 11 miles. Good local taxi and bus service. A car is not essential in Appledore, but is recommended for exploring this lovely area.

Distances:

Market towns of Bideford and Barnstaple are 3 and 11 miles away. WestwardHo! is 4 miles. Dartington Crystal and RHS Rosemoor at Torrington is a 25 min drive. Ferry to the Isle of Lundy from Bideford. Information centre for this is on The Quay at Bideford. Bike hire for the Tarka trail at Bideford, Barnstaple and Puffing Billy cafe, Torrington. Exeter is an hours drive away. Hartland Point and lighthouse are about 45 minutes drive.

Further Details:

Appledore has a small Londis supermarket, John`s delicatessen, post office, several teashops, gift shops, Galleries, Paper shop, 2 fish and chip shops, The Quay restaurant and cafe, Bensons restaurant, and 6 pubs with food. There is an ATM in the paper shop, but it is not free, the supermarket does cash back with a smile. Bideford has banks, market and an interesting range of shops. Visit Butchers Row for local artisans. Within 6 Miles there is Sainsburys, Asda and Morrisons, Tesco and Homebase just 9 miles, just outrside Barnstaple. There are plenty of Family places to visit, The Big Sheep being one. Skern Outdoor Activity Centre. Appledore is famous for Crabbing, the local shops sell all you need. If you are a musician, and enjoy jam sessions, bring your instrument and or your voice. There are lots of sessions in Appledore and are listed in our visitors book

Choose your holiday from the availability calender. A deposit of £350 is payable at booking. £200 will be credited to the holiday and £150 will be retained against breakages. This breakages deposit will be refunded to you within 1 week of the end of your holiday, after inspection, less any explained charges. Payment may be by cheque or Bank Transfer (BACS) Balance to be paid 8 weeks before start of holiday.

Changeover Day:
Change over day is Saturday, but this may be flexible, please ask. Arrival after 4.00pm, and please vacate by 10.00 am

Thank you for not smoking in our cottage Outside: There is a very small decked area at the back of the property, leading to the laundry but it is not big enough for young children to run about or play ball in.
