Guestbook comments from the owner

The cottage was beautiful and had everything we needed. Lovely layout, inviting fire, great location and beautiful views. A wonderful host and great place to stay! Thanks so much.

The Waltons.

A lovely week in an excellent cottage. The cottage had everything you would need and Fay is very welcoming. We have found some lovely walks in the Forest of Dean, Wye Valley and Wales and the 12 mile family cycle route is a must. Still lots I would like to do in the Forest of Dean and would definitely stay here again. Thank you.

Rosie, Russell, Jessica and Luke.

What a beautiful cottage with lovely decor and furnishings! It has been a delightful week even with the rain! There are so many places to visit. we didn’t even make a dent in the list we had. We all feel we want to go home and redecorate to make our homes as restful and tasteful as the Old Tump House. Thanks for the welcome and an idyllic setting for my birthday.

Beautiful spot surrounded by apple blossom

  • 4 of 5

The cottage occupies a surprising spot and offers a lovely retreat especially in spring when the meadow around it is full of blossom. A well equipped kitchen and extremely comfortable beds were particularly welcome. The cottage is decorated in a stylish and very tasteful way which we loved.

Local walks were delightful particularly along the Wye valley.

We confidently recommend this place.

beautiful cottage in a great location

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely cottage, spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished. The basket of milk bread and other goodies on arrival was very welcome. The owner greeted us on arrival, and helped settle us in and answered any questions. The property is in a great position for exploring the area. I have no hesitation in recommending this property, as we had a most enjoyable stay here.

Lovely home in a beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

Had a great week in the Forest of Dean. The old tump house is located on the edge of the forest with a beautiful backdrop of trees. It is really well presented with 3 large bedrooms all en suite and a kitchen, dining and living room all combined. All the attractions are no more than 30 minutes drive from the house. The village where the house is located is small but Lydney is 10 minutes drive away and has all the amenities needed. Thanks to Faye and family for your kind hospitality.

Great place to have a family week in the forest.

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic property, so comfortable, clean, warm and good size bedrooms, loved coming back to it every evening. And the beds.....so snuggled we slept! And best of all the forest is literally out the gate. Faye (owner) was lovely and our kids enjoyed playing with hers. All in all a great place to visit even in the winter!

Quiet Cottage, Ideally placed for exploring the Forest of Dean

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed the cosy cottage with it's well appointed ensuite bathrooms and well equipped kitchen. The seating area for watching tv is somewhat compact for 4 but has table and chairs behind for overflow seating. Some written instructions on how to use fittings (shower controls, etc) and equipment (ovens, microwave and how to connect DVD player to TV) would be helpful as well as advance warning of the need for indoor footwear. We really enjoyed our stay and found plenty to do and places to eat locally. Recommended
