We appreciate all feedback, and I'm sure you'll be please to know that we have scheduled many improvements due to take place in the winter months 2014, these do include higher standard of roof terrace furniture as well as revamp the Bathroom (new tiled floor) and soft furnishings presentation (i.e. Bedspreads, lamp shades, curtains and rugs)

About the Owner
Belle View is owned by father & son duo John & Luke, who are builders and developers originally from Birmingham. After a lifetime of holidays in Devon, both as a child and young man, John fell in love with the area & in 1994 John and family finally made the move down!
It was in 2009 that John & Luke purchased the building which was in need of extensive repair. The building was split into 4 apartment units, finished in 2011, with Belle View comprising of the whole of the first floor.
Luke takes care of the majority day to day management of Belle View and has so far enjoyed preparing for & meeting the guests reminding him of the feeling he got when he too used to come down & enjoy Devon! He looks forward to & takes pride in ensuring your stay in devon is comfortable, enjoyable & memorable

We booked the apartment last minute as my husband was working in illfracombe and suggested that I went with him for a break . We were pleased to find out that we were allowed to take our dog as well . On our arrival we met John who gave us the keys and showed us to the apartment . The place was very clean and smelt fresh the apartment is modern and light and airy and the view to the sea is a bonus . Having the balcony was a godsend as it meant the dog had freedom to watch the birds at the same time being safe . Any problems we had like the front door not locking properly the second day was rectified as soon as we told John. The place felt a little cold to start with although the heating was on it was a cold week but yet again after mentioning it a heater was provided which was lovely . Luke and John are very friendly and more than happy to help where they can , we would definetly use the apartment again if we are that way

A lovely apartment which was very well equipped and spotlessly clean. Beautiful views from the terrace and we were very glad we went for an apartment with a terrace as the weather was sunny and warm. The beds were very comfortable as was the lounge furniture. Definitely worth its 4 star rating from the Tourist Board. Although on a main road, we didn't find it particularly noisy and certainly heard no loud noise from the other apartments. The basin had two plugs and the toilet flush was not broken. Easy walking distance to the Theatre and Harbour and many lovely restaurants. We really liked the rooftop restaurant at the Admiral Collingwood on the seafront, a great place to eat, drink and watch the lovely sunsets. We would definitely stay in this apartment again if visiting Ilfracombe and would thoroughly recommend it. Would just say that the terrace furniture was not to the same very high standard of the indoor furniture but that is just a minor point!
Noisy Belle View..
Didn't realise the apartment is right on the A399! Traffic noise until late at night. Woken in the early hours of Friday morning by a couple in a neighbouring apartment having a drunken "domestic"! Also frequent thumps and footsteps from the flat above. Still no plug in bathroom wash basin and toilet flush still broken, as reported by the previous reviewer last Autumn! Balcony furniture could do with being replaced.
Bit of a building site next to the property. Other than that... the property was clean, the large TV was nice and the sofa and bed very comfy. Good location (but limited parking nearby) with some excellent restaurants in Fore Street and High Street, especially Combe Cottage, The Olive Room and Relish Bar and Bistro. Would recommend Belle View but would suggest bringing earplugs, especially if you're used to silence at night, as we are!
The flat was clean recently renovated but with minor glitches :the oven was unreliable the bathroom hand basin lacked a working plug reported but not rectified toilet flush broken bin liners not provided.
Local facilities were good plenty of quality restaurants close by stunning coastline and countryside.

“The property was initially a large house, called 'Belle View House' (hence the name of Apartment 1!) before being turned into 'Portland Apartments' in 2011. It was brought as long term investment with the view to achieving 4 long term rental apartments. Because the development was to 'keep' and not just to 'move on' the level of finish was that much more personal than you would expect, this becomes apparent when staying at Belle View. Late on in the development Luke & John, both previously holidaying in North Devon saw that Apartment 1 with its large roof sun terrace and stunning views was perfect to be offered out as holiday accommodation, it was for that reason that in the 2011 Belle View first became available for short term breaks on part of England's stunning coast line.”

For those with a special interest in art, Ilfracombe, and more importantly Belle View is the place for you! Our stunning roof terrace benefits from 'toe to tip of the sword' views of world renowned artist Damien Hurst's Verity or as its become know Angel of The South!
Walking holidays are perfectly suited for Belleview, with easy access to stunning coastlines and the near by National Park of Exmoor.
Award winning beaches are a short drive from Belleview, with Croyde and Woolacombe being the neighbouring Villages to the Town of Ilfracombe
5-10 minutes stroll to the bustling heritage harbour area, Damien Hurst's Verity, the Landmark Theatre and the fascinating Tunnels Beach.
Ilfracombe boasts a host of wonderful independent shops and business set up to cater to the tourist industry and is truly a hidden gem on the devon coast!
Exeter airport is 68 miles from Ilfracombe. Barnstaple is the nearest train station and it is 14 miles from the Belle View. It is possible to get to the apartment using public transport as the bus service to local towns (including Barnstaple) is pretty good however we do recommend a car, this ensures you can get the most out of the local area.
Woolacombe (beach and surfing town) 6 miles. Heddon Valley (coastal walks and pub) 11 miles. Braunton (burrows and town) 8 miles. Barnstaple (largest local town) 14 miles. Broomhill Sculpture park (Park and lovely cafe/ restaurant) 10 miles. Lynton and Lynmouth (beautiful towns and home of the cream tea) 18 miles
Ilfracombe has many amenities - harbour, theatre, cinema (including luxury screen), supermarkets, banks, gardens and a museum. There are also fabulous butchers, fishmongers and restaurants!

We take a 30% deposit on confirming the booking. The remaining balance is payable 8 weeks prior to arrival. We are happy to take cheques, however bank transfer is our preferred method of payment. We regret deposits are non refundable as are balances paid 8 weeks prior.
