About Anne Roots

I have lived in Dorset most of my life and actually lived at Nutley Farm as a child. I was lucky enough to purchase the farm back in the year 2000. Since then it has become my mission to build and improve what had become an unloved derelict site. Each year I try to add new benefits and improvements. It is hoped the property will now pass through more generations of the family.

Anne Roots purchased this cottage in 2000

Why Anne Roots chose Dorchester

Because of its unique situation and and the ability to be surrounded by wonderful wildlife and our friendly animals.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We've had a great week, the cottage is lovely and in a perfect location - a great base to explore Dorset from, and a cosy place to come back to at the end of the day. The weather has been wonderful too , so all in all it's been a brilliant holiday! Thanks we would definitely recommend.

Nutley Farm

  • 5 of 5

Our 4th stay & love it there with all the animals! Carriage ride with dear Ipon is wonderful and Anne Roots, the owner is such a lovely lady! The area is fantastic for walks, beaches, pub food, river trips, wildlife, National Trust properties, museums etc so that even when the weather is foul there's always something to do!

Nuts about Nutley farm

  • 5 of 5

We had a great week in Cherry Barn which is very comfortable and ideally suited to exploring the area. The out of the way location might not suit all, but the peace and tranquillity with easy access to walks or roads was what we wanted. The farm activities are based around looking after horses, pigs and alpacas so hardly any noise there. There were a few comings and going when the horse owners came along to sort out the horses so there where a few cars turning up in the early evenings but it was never noisy. The house and gardens where clean and tidy and the owner was lovely, all in all a great holiday

A perfect base for the Dorset Coast

  • 5 of 5

An ideal venue for people who want a comfortable base to explore the beautiful Dorset coast and countryside. Nutley Farm cottages are beautifully appointed and located in the heart of "Hardy Country", close to Lulworth Cove and Bovington Tank Museum. There is plenty of choice for eating out at local pubs and hotels.

The highlight of our stay was the carriage ride through the bluebell woods - memorable. Thank you Ann for your welcome and hospitality.

An excellent base

  • 5 of 5

The accommodation provided everything you could ask for and the owner was very welcoming. There was plenty of space in the Cottage for our Labrador. A quiet environment but easy access to the whole coastline.
