Bwthyn Bach is a lovely bolt-hole to stay in the small historical town of LLantrisant. It has recently been fully renovated to a high standard with wooden floors throughout, central heating and a modern comfortable interior. A great location to explore all that the area has to offer, with the old town of Cowbridge in the Vale of Glamorgan just 20 mins away, The Rhonda Valleys 10 mins away, The Brecon Beacons 1 hour away and within reach of Heritage Coastline of South Wales. Barry Island of 'Gavin and Stacey' fame is half and hour car drive.

About Steve Rowlands

My parents and grandparents were born and bred in this historical town of Llantrisant and we live locally with our two sons. Having grown up in the area we are familiar with all it has to offer and the surrounding areas.

We bought Bwthyn Bach which means 'Little Cottage' 10 years ago for its location in this small town of Llantrisant. Its situation near to local shops, pubs and walks is perfect for a relaxing holiday and easy access to all the beautiful surrounding areas in South Wales.

Friendly and welcoming service from the owner. Excellent communication and genuine wish for guests to have an enjoyable stay. The property was well situated for getting out and about and has been refurbished to a high standard. We loved our stay and hope to return again at some point in the future.

The Llantrisant area

Llantrisant is known for its pub culture with a number of venues including The New Inn, the Wheatsheaf and the Cross Keys Hotel. Formerly in the Bull Ring was the Rock and Fountain pub, which became the home of the original Llantrisant Workingmen's Club founded in May 1953 by Seth Morgan, Freeman of Llantrisant.

The focal point of the town is the Bull Ring, a commercial square in the centre of the town that was used for bull-baiting, until it was disallowed in 1827 due to unruly crowds. The square contains a statue of Dr William Price a pioneer of cremation.

1KM away is the Talbot Green shopping park with a range high-street shops such as TK-Max, River Island, Next and Marks and Spenser. Within the shopping park is many places to eat and drink such as Starbucks, Costa, Harvester, Frankies and Bennies and Chiquito. There is a large Tesco express in close vicinity.

Outside: A small courtyard leading from the kitchen door gives a small outside space with a Bistro table and 2 chairs for morning coffee or an early evening glass of wine. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen and towels are included and the property is cleaned on a weekly basis.

Super cozy cottage.

My husband and I booked a 4 night break away with our 2 dogs as a last minute thing. The cottage itself is very well laid out, everything you need for a home away from home. Pretty little village and stunning scenery just a short stroll down the hill. We said good morning to the sheep and donkeys in the property opposite the cottage.We walked for miles everyday. Drove to Barry for a look see but was very busy and dogs are not allowed on the beaches so couldn't really do much. We discovered Gower and fell in love with it, no dog restrictions on the beaches and miles of stunning coastline to explore.

The cottage is on a very busy road so we had to be extra careful going out with the dogs because there isn't really a pavement as such. What there is outside is a very steep stone wall thing that was in bad disrepair and quite dangerous in wet weather, which we had a lot of. I really couldn't fault the cottage itself, Steve even left teabags and coffee for us!!! We would definitely stay here again if it was just my husband and I but with no outside space and a very busy road to the front it didn't suit the dogs. Thank you Steve for a wonderful stay.

Thank you for your feedback regarding the pavement outside the property, I have been in touch with the local council in the past notifying them of these issues. Cozy, quaint, beautiful, cottage with great access to everything in South Wales!

We spent a long weekend at this lovely cottage! It was beautiful as well as comfortable! The parking was easy, the kitchen was well equipped, and the little town was quaint with some great choices to eat within 1 min walk. Steve, the owner wad always available via phone or text to answer questions if we had them!

The people of the town were just as lovely and accommodating. They have us some great suggestions of this to do in the area! The Bear Inn and O'Sullivans were perfect spots for evening meals and then our was just short walk home to our cozy cottage for a restful night sleep!

I would highly recommend this cottage as a great place to relax and enjoy all that south wakes has to offer!!! Thank you and we hope to return soon!

A lovely little cottage that's in a beautiful location

We had a wonderful holiday in Llantrisant. We were pleased with the cottage and found it cosy and in an ideal location. So many places to visit within a few minutes made it an ideal base for us as we explored the area. It's also easy to get to Cardiff if thinking of going to an event at the Principality Stadium. We went to see Coldplay and were surprised just how easy it is to get right into the heart of Cardiff from Llantrisant. Very happy!

good base for wet wales!

Comfortable and pleasant cottage in a small village. There's a General Store just up the road and the Castle Café round the corner from there which does an excellent Sunday lunch.

The cottage's kitchen table is a little high and there's no coffee table.

We used the small public car park [free] along from the cottage as it's very convenient.

Llantristrant itself has several interesting buildings and a grand view from the church grounds.

We went to Pontypridd on the frequent bus service and to Cardiff on the train from Ponty Clun [nearer than Pontypridd]. It's a fifteen minute journey.

The Royal Mint is down the road: a bit pricey but interesting. It has a recently opened visitor centre. Guided tours take place every fifteen minutes.

Be careful when driving because road signs are often hidden by trees and shrubbery.

At Talbot Green, there are the well known large stores. The Tesco is bigger than Llanistrant itself--it's awful!

We could have done with coat hooks/ clothes horse on which to hang wet clothes but all-in-all we had an enjoyable stay.

Fabulous little cottage

Beautiful cottage, so clean and tidy. Everything you could ask for. The Shower was amAzing!! Good free parking nearby, lovely little local shops and an easy drive to Cardiff, and other places across South Wales. Electric & gas paid separately but ours came to about £6.00 for 4 days/3 nights, just remember to have some pound coins handy! Many thanks for a wonderful stay, highly recommend and will definitely try and book again in my next trip to S Wales.

A beautiful petite country cottage

A lovely cottage with everything you need and spotlessly clean. Lovely views and a superb friendly village. Fab food at the Bear Inn a short stroll up the hill. The locals can not do enough to welcome and help you. Highly recommend a stay at this lovely cottage.
