Gorgeous, 4 bedroom Villa - Idyllic, Peaceful Location, 5 Minutes Drive to The Best Beaches on the Island

Aquarius nestles amid palms and mango trees in a quiet spot 400ft up the jungle side of Mount Nevis, yet it is only a 5-minute drive from the longest and best beach on the island, 10 minutes from the quaint 18th Century capital village, Charlestown, and just fifteen minutes from the sleepy little airport, where scheduled airlines fly in daily from Puerto Rico, Antigua and St Marten, the wonderful Mrs Fahie will be on call to organise a car to meet you and take you to the villa. We do recommend hiring a car as it is the easiest way to get around the island for shopping and restaurants but also to explore the amazing things Nevis has on offer. There are also regular direct flights to the nearby island of St Kitts from the US, Canada and England, again a car can be arranged to meet you at the airport, drive you for about 20 minutes to the south east tip of the island where a water taxi will transport you the short hop to Oualie Beach on the beautiful island of Nevis. We are delighted to arrange for provisions to be ready for your arrival, should you wish. There are detailed maps explaining where the best supermarkets and restaurants are situated as well as information on other places of interest in the villa.

Aquarius is set in 2 acres of mature landscaped tropical gardens. The villa is on the remote, peaceful edge of Fern Hill Estates. The private infinity pool measuring 32' by 12' is a perfect vantage point to enjoy the spectacular views and sunsets and long enough to swim laps. There is an extensive terrace

The main terrace has all sorts of seating options where guests can sit quietly on more private terraces outside the master bedroom and guest rooms or on the wide covered terrace with a table that sits 10 comfortably (if required) and plenty of cosy armchairs for relaxing or sun-bedson the extended terrace to one side of the pool. Be prepared to be delighted by the extraordinary beauty of the sunsets and the stunning colour and light you will experience.

There is a wide 1500 sq ft mosquito-netted veranda,dining table for 10, 1100 sq ft pool deck, barbecue, 4 sun loungers, wonderful view of the Caribbean Sea and Nevis's sister island, St Kitts, two miles away.

Attached there is a double garage with remote controlled doors.

We are all passionate about travelling and visiting beautiful places, we fell in love with Aquarius and the island of Nevis the moment we arrived. "My wife, two friends and I had the most wonderful three weeks at Aquarius! The house is really perfect, and you should be so proud of building such a master piece. The design, layout, infinity pool, Great Room, bedrooms and bathrooms, the kitchen, furnishings, fans AND the quality of workmanship were all absolutely tip top - Mandarin Hotel Hong Kong luxury!

"The weather was perfect every day, and we loved the warmth, swimming, and sitting out and looking at that stunning view – across blue seas to the mountains of St Kitts. The sunsets were spectacular, and from 6 to 6.20 pm we would watch the golden sun as it sank into the ocean. Then after dinner we would take our chairs out by the pool and gaze at the millions of twinkling stars. It was a truly memorable holiday for all of us."

Stunningly 5 star property with all the amenities

Our third idyllic visit in 4 years. A spacious and elegant retreat in the peaceful hills with a 180 degree view of the sea and St. Kitts. Evening sunsets with a cocktail on the terrace after a dip in the pool is an enduring memory. The property is pristine and well equipped with technology. Lots of fun restaurants on the island and a perfect place to unwind. We'll be back.

Be prepared to be delighted by the extraordinary beauty of the sunsets and the stunning colour and light you will experience. The immaculately equipped kitchen means cooking is an ease or simply ask for a chef to be sent and relax whilst all your wishes are catered for. There is also a large Weber Gas barbecue under a separate roofed terrace adjacent to the dining area and kitchen.

Coast/Beach:

2 miles (5-min drive) to the best beach on the island, Pinney’s Beach, a long, wide stretch of white sand and tranquil aquamarine sea, which is often completely deserted even in the high season except for the plummeting pelicans and a fishing boat or two. It is home to six little open-air beach bistros (including the famous Sunshine’s Lounge) as well as a smart French restaurant and the luxurious Four Seasons resort with three restaurants, a huge white beach, and calm, protected ocean swimming.

Travel:

The Vance Amory International Airport at Newcastle is 6 miles away.

The sea ferry pier in Charlestown is 4 miles away.

The water taxi ferry at Oualie Beach is 3 miles away.

Distances:

2 miles to Jessups Village, 4 miles to the capital village, Charlestown a delightful little settlement with buildings dating back to the 18th century, among them the old Bath Hotel, which was the height of fashionable luxury in the 18th century and a Mecca for European visitors who sailed the Atlantic to bathe in the hot volcanic springs at Bath village.

Charlestown has two museums, one commemorating Admiral Horatio Nelson, who married a pretty young local widow, Fanny Nisbet, here in 1787.

Nevis is a dreamy, miniature paradise of 36 sq miles with a balmy climate, cool breezes, calm seas, lovely beaches, colourful forests, mountain walks, elegant old plantation houses and the nicest, friendliest people you could ever hope to meet – people who wave and smile as you drive by.

Each golden day is like a time-warp back to the 1950s where people are polite and respectful and crime is rare. There are no flashy nightclubs, vulgar casinos, or rowdy tourists – just a quiet, relaxed, stylish, old-fashioned little haven that still deserves its 18th Century nickname, ‘The Queen of the Caribbees’.

The island has numerous little bistros, beach bars and stylish restaurants, 5 banks and 4 excellent, modern supermarkets.

Among the many delights are the old sugar plantation houses, some of them in ruins, others now elegant, picturesque hotels: the Montpelier (with a particularly good restaurant), the Hermitage and the Nisbet. The island is perfect for lovers of walking, hiking, horse riding, sailing, fishing, scuba diving and water skiing, and it is suffused with music: the bouncy reggae and calypso rhythms that waft from balconies and doorways all over Charlestown; the delightful string bands that play their simple but haunting home-made instruments; the Tuesday and Friday night guitars-and-drums jamming sessions at the Oualie Beach Hotel, where everyone is encouraged to join in, if only to shake a tambourine or maracas; the fabulous local bands like Jazzique, which plays every Friday night at the Lime beach restaurant; the karaoke evenings at the Double Deuce.

As Duke Orsino says in Shakespeare’s play Twelfth Night, ‘if music be the food of love, play on.’ At times it seems that Nevis might have been the lovely, musical, magical, enchanted island that inspired Shakespeare to write The Tempest.

Bookings will be reserved for 7 days and secured by paying a 50% deposit, half of which will be refunded if the booking is cancelled no later than 60 days before the start of the rental. The balance of the rent, plus a returnable damage deposit of UK£1,200, will become payable 30 days before the rental begins.

Notes on prices:
More frequent cleaning as well as laundry and ironing can be provided for an extra US$7.50 per cleaner per hour.
A daytime baby-sitting service can be provided for US$35 for a minimum of four hours + US$7 per hour for extra hours up to a maximum of eight hours.
Weekly rental rates include all utilities (electricity, gas, broadband, local telephone calls, cable TV) but not long-distance telephone calls, which will be billed at the end of the rental.
