The Garden Flat is set in superb grounds of a splendid Lakeland former gentlemen’s residence. You can wonder through the grounds, home to deer, squirrels and badgers, and take in the wonderful views of the surrounding fells. Just a stones throw away from the lake shore where you will find cafés, gift shops and traditional Lakeland pubs.

5th stay - no complaints

Another wonderful stay in this delightful flat, it is exactly as described, cosy, clean comfy and peaceful. Have to disagree with previous reviewer, we were here again for 2 weeks, there was occupants above in all this time, and we heard absolutely nothing from above. The shower is also spot on, powerful and always as hot as you need it. There was plenty storage for our 2 week stay also, you really don't need anything else. As I always say, we have every intention of returning yet again. Once again, we feel we have had a real holiday.

Lovely location.

Not top of range but get what you pay for. Small bedroom with limited space and storage. Shower temperamental but hot eventually. Kitchen good. Comfy seating. Warm. Seating at front with lovely views.

Lots of noise from apartment upstairs. .could hear all conversation, flushing toilets during the night and general walking /moving around of occupants, furniture and heavy belongings.

A 2 week stay and our 4th visit!!

Again there is not much to add to my previous reviews. We were so glad to get a 2 week break this time and did not regret it. Everything there to be able to live like at home, but you definitely feel you are away from it all. Again, one morning opened the blind and there were two deer standing outside the window, you know you are not at home when you see that. We just find this the ideal spot for our type of holiday, and will return. As always, it is a pleasure to deal with the owners.

3rd stay, says it all

Our third stay, and still can only praise the quality, value, tranquility, comfort and cosiness of this little flat. There is not much more to add to my other 2 reviews. We booked this very last minute (like the night before we went) and not disappointed. The little deer standing in the flat garden while we drove up the drive can only make you smile on the start of your break. There will be another stay here after the summer months.

Another perfect stay

This was our second stay here, and equally delightful. The flat has been extremely well refurbished since last year, it is so comfortable and cosy, we highly recommend the place. We did have our car with us but during our 10 day stay did not have to use it, everything is so convenient. We are serious hill walkers, and all of our walks were done from the doorstep, including the Fairfield Horseshoe and over Kirkstone Pass to Troutbeck Valley. It is especially enchanting when you opened the door in the morning to find 3 deer looking at you from the driveway, and watch a squirrel potter about in the leaves. It is definately in our plans for next year, and think it will be extended to 2 weeks. And I have to conclude that the owners are so nice to deal with.

Approximately 80 miles from leeds-Bradford airport. Car hire is not essential


500 yards to waterhead, 10 minute stroll to village centre

Further Details:

Local cafes, shops, restaurants, old fashioned cinema, pubs, mini golf and takeaways. Local ferry service and sailing centre near. Great walks on your doorstep such as Loughrigg fell and Wansfell. Fairfield horseshoe is one for the more adventurous.
