A perfect well equipped and located villa for a couple to enjoy their holiday.

The unique design of our Villa means that whether you are sitting by your Private Pool or up in bed being served your first cup of coffee of the morning by a doting partner you are never deprived of a beautiful sea view too die for.

We purposely created large open plan living and sleeping spaces with full width glazed walls that in turn open on to very generous terraces on both the ground and first floors.

Our Villa is Fully Detached and stands in its own walled plot of land with private parking and direct access from a tarmac road.

This affords you direct access to Milatos, our home village and beach area featured in the pictures or in the opposite direction the slightly bigger village of Sissi, whichever you chose is a mere 5 min car ride away, ample parking and no charges !

The villa comprises of Two Floors, a Ground Floor having a large open plan Lounge, Dining Area and Kitchen and for convenience it also has a Guest Cloakroom with Shower.

Access to the First Floor is by spiral staircase

( no height restriction ) where you will find the Large Master Bedroom and EnSuite Wet Room.

Both the lounge and bedroom have full width glazed doors opening onto tiled terraces complete with sun loungers and outdoor dining furniture.

Although set in a rural location the villages of Milatos and Sisi and their beaches are within a few minutes drive.

These villages offer all you need to be self sufficient if a relaxing holiday soaking up the sun is your preference. Between them they offer large supermarkets with lots of choice in both Greek and Northern European food.

They are complimented by smaller outlets for Bread, Meat, Pharmacy, laundry, cash points, tourist shops selling a wide range of goods and finally numerous coffee shops for the chocolate croissant and to sit and people watch !

The island of Spinalonga made famous by Victoria Hislops book The Island is just off the coast at Agios Nikolaos.

After falling in love with Crete we decided to have a holiday home here. We are both now retired so we can spend some of our time, usually early and late season, relaxing in the sun enjoying the peace and quiet and escaping the worse of the UK weather !

Peace & Quiet

We wanted a comfortable, quiet week away from it all. How fortunate then that we chose this lovely modern house up in the hills above Milatos. It's very comfortable and well equipped, but to be honest we never used the flat-screen TV, nor the DVD player; never used the dishwasher, nor the washing machine. We did make good use of the huge patio area however and as a keen birdwatcher I was delighted by Sardinian Warblers, Bee-Eaters and vultures by day and the wierd sound of Nightjars just after dusk.

The owners greeted us on arrival and were enthusiastic, practical people who were only too pleased to help when necessary (the instructions for getting there from the airport were excellent!). The only downside is that due to the design, the upstairs toilet isn't very private, but otherwise the house is clean, bright, airy and practical.

Children and elderly people will need to be careful on the narrow spiral staircase; and you need to be cautious when driving out of the property as it is on a blind bend and bikes especially tend to zoom down the hill towards the coast: a mirror opposite the entrance would alleviate this risk.

This isn't a place with a ton of stuff to do just on the doorstep, so it's worth bearing in mind that kids/teens and people wanting a Malia-type experience could easily get bored (though it does have wi-fi). It is ideal as a base for exploring, however, with Agios Nikolaos, the Lassithi plateau and countless Cretian villages all within easy reach, and I'd recommend visiting Sisi for restaurants, supermarkets, gift shops and seaside stuff. Would I book this accomodation again? Absolutely.

The best accommodation we've ever had!

I believe that this was the best accommodation we've ever had in Europe. Very nice villa, has everything for the nice holiday. The villa was very clean and beautiful, really homey and had all the equipment (most of which brand new) one would need.

The owners are very charming and extremely nice! They were always ready to help and added to our happy holiday.

I would recommend the place for a couple who wants to have a little getaway from the crowds and enjoy quiet evenings overlooking the stunning view! Romantic and relaxing atmosphere guaranteed!

Milatos Bay

A superb villa. Beautifully equiped and very modern design across two floors. Lovely views over Milatos Beach and the bay. Ideal location for visiting sights across central and eastern Crete. The owners were both kind and very friendly. Car transport essential. Highly recommended.

The Villa was designed and the build Project Managed by us on a virgin hillside plot with the incredible sea and countryside views you see in the photo's. The plot was chosen for its view and close proximity to two Greek villages, one more commercialised ( sisi )than the other, that being a more traditional village ( milatos ) but adjacent to a tarmac road for easy and convenient access. The capital of Crete and the airport a mere 45 min easy drive.

Coast/Beach:

The shingle beach of Milatos is approx. 2km, 3 minute drive away but in the opposite direction Sisi is approx. 4km and there are several sandy beaches in that area but you may have to pay for the use of the sun beds.

There is a large public beach near the archaeological site of Malia Palace about 8 minutes drive

Travel:

Car hire is recommended and available either at the airport or on the internet and should ideally be booked in advance for best prices.

Heraklion Airport is approx. 45km away using the National Road, there are no towns or villages to negotiate making the journey very easy by day or night and take less than 45mins.

Specific directions to the villa with contact numbers will be provided.

Access to the villa is directly off a tarmac road and there is ample parking space

Further Details:

The famous Leper Colony Island of Spinalonga, the subject of a famous book ' The Island ' is well worth a visit as long as you don't mind a very short boat trip !

On the same day trip you can also take in the regions capital Agios Nikolaos, the St Tropez of Crete, shop till you drop and discover the famous inner lake, around which you can sit at the many tavernas, eat, drink and watch the world go by.

There are good un-crowded roads to coastal areas to the east, follow the coast road which climbs a little and offers incredible sea views whilst passing through picturesque unspoilt villages that are now beyond the normal tourist areas of the island.

Alternatively go West back towards the airport and the capital Heraklion to experience the more densely populated and developed tourist areas with the popular resorts of Malia and Hersonissos and for a cultural experience visit the ruins of the Minoan Palace at Knossos.

The final option is to go inland and climb up into mountain villages that are the ' real ' Crete, the region takes its name from the Lasithi Plateau, as the name suggests this is a very fertile flat area high up in the mountains and has the Diktaean Cave rumoured to be the birth place of Zeus, the Greek God of the Sky.
