About the Owner

My wife and I are both retired and have been part of Whitesand Bay for many years. While our children were very young we rented various chalets before buying one 25 years ago. Six years ago having sold our original chalet we bought "Talland View" which became our main home until last year - we now live near Bath in Somerset. Our children have grown up but still visit "Talland View" together with grandchildren on a regular basis. As a family we use the chalet often at all times of the year and decided last year to share this 'piece of heaven' with visitors. We hope you enjoy our 'holiday home' and this part of Cornwall as much as we do - its great to use as a base to visit other places - however its also just the place to 'switch off'!!! For best prices and additional availability both at "Talland View" and our nearby coastal property ("Corniche") - set in a Napoleonic - Fort please do not hesitate to contact us at ken.wild@hotmail.co.uk

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for letting us rent your home "Talland View" for 3 nights.

We went primarily for a rest and quiet time and we definitely had that.

We were impressed by how clean and comfortable the chalet was, and the stunning view. My mum who is 77 was able to go down to the sandy beach and come back up at her own speed. Your place is definitely a romantic place.

Roland and Helen.

"This is a truly stunning location - Talland View realy lives up to its name! The furnishing, decoration - works of art, ambiance and overal space made for a delightful break - thank you we look forward to returning very soon."

Richard and Anne.

Well, this is the start of our last day at perfect "Talland View," Chris is cooking boiled eggs for us to have on the patio, last night and again this morning we have been watching naval manoeuvres in the bay involving Warships with a few helicopters and 14 ribs thrown in for good measure.

I can't begin to tell you how much we have enjoyed our break it feels as if we have been here much longer than 3 days, thank you for making a little bit of paradise for us to share, its perfect, boiled eggs ready..!

Fabulous

  • 5 of 5

From the minute we arrived we knew we had struck gold at Talland View!

In the most wonderful location it does indeed have uninterrupted sea views which is what attracted us in the first place.

Booking and contact with the owners was a pleasure and we were delighted to find on arrival a comfortable and very clean home with everything we needed for a relaxing break. The thoughtful welcome pack was a lovely touch.

We were primarily here for a seaside break and we were not disappointed - the beach directly below the cottage (accessed via steep steps) is lovely,as is the beach a bit further along at Tregantle and we spent many hours walking and beach combing.

All in all a real gem of a holiday home - we didn't want to leave and we most certainly will be returning.

A little slice of heaven!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay at "Talland View." We would highly recommend it to anyone considering a place on the Cornwall coast. Our only regret is that we didn't stay there longer. Mary and Ken (the owners) are amazing and made us feel right at home. It was actually a shame that they had to leave! The location of the rental was perfect for both exploring or just simply relaxing. It was situated perfectly above the ocean and provided absolutely stunning views of the sea. The interior was very nicely decorated, impeccably clean, comfortable and incredibly inviting. Another guest had mentioned that there wasn't that "rental house smell," which might be an odd comment, but it was true. The house was very fresh, clean and clearly loved. The welcome basket (with gluten free food!) was such a nice touch too. The hosts and the rental both get 5 stars!! Such a gem!

A little Gem

  • 5 of 5

I felt confident the moment I enquired about this property the owner was prompt, friendly & very accommodating. I am usually quite skeptical on appearances from photos as they can be very out of date, but not this time...the photos are true to its current appearance. On arrival at the property, walking through the bright living area out onto the terrace we were bowled over by the spectacular view as far as the eye can see. The position of the chalet is simply stunning, just far enough away from the road and not too far a walk down the cliff path. Internally it is bright, comfortable, extremely clean, tastefully furnished and the owners have provided everything you need for a relaxing stay. The garden/terrace is well tended & landscaped and makes a perfect retreat for just sitting watching the boats sail past with a chilled glass of wine. We wanted a walking break away with our dog and this ticked the boxes, Whitsand Bay is a dog friendly beach throughout the year. We have traveled worldwide but I can honestly say this has to be one of the best, scenic, unspoiled & tourist free beaches we have experienced.

Just spent a lovely relaxing week at this property! Home from home! Everything here to cater for our needs and all of top quality! Very comfortable and clean which I am always wary about as I am very particular when it comes to cleanliness! Smelled lovely and fresh, no aroma of 'dogs' as dogs are welcome! Will definitely visit again if we plan to go to that area! Thankyou Ken and Mary for sharing your home with us!

Location

From the Owner

My wife was born in Plymouth and spent much of her childhood at Whitsand Bay. It was an ideal spot to holiday with our three children as they grew up - most of the time we simply stayed on the beach! We rented variouse chalets over a period of about twelve years and were delighted when we had the opportunity to buy one. This is a stunning place to be - we would often come down just for the weekend -two days here can relax you as though you had spent a week elsewhere. Its into Cornwall - but not too far! Its secluded - but only as much as you want it to be! Its great for children (of all ages) to go on the beach and swim, surf or just play -but its also brilliant for "grown ups" to walk, sight-see and totally relax. We bought "Talland View" because we love being there!!!!

Facilities

From the Owner

We lived at "Talland View" for almost four years while looking for a 'main property' to buy - its our home and is fitted out with everything you would want from a home. However "Talland View" has that "holiday feel" about it from the minute you wake and see the view - sitting outside having breakfast on the patio - to the glass of wine in the evening when you watch the sunset. There are a number of chalets on Whitsand Bay all privately owned and mostly used for the summer holiday period. "Talland View" is one of the larger ones -with lots more luxury, its near the road (but not on it), its easily accessable - but quiet and private. We enjoy the fact that "Talland View" is a holiday home with very comfortable and spacious accommodation which gives it a "home" feeling. We are also fortunate to own a second property nearby just 10 minutes from "Talland View". "Corniche" (from the French for 'pathway by the sea) is a two bedroomed apartment set in a Napoleonic Fort which literally stands on the edge of the sea overlooking Plymouth Sound and nearby Kingsand/Cawsands. The apartment, with reserved parking, has very recently had a complete renovation throughout. It has a large balcony area from where you watch the comings and goings of naval ships not to mention the occasional dolphin. Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: A romantic hideaway for up to two couples or for couples who enjoy walking and exploring or for a family with older children who want to visit 'Cornwall's forgotten corner'. Talland View is a non smoking home and the owners have a 'non pet policy'. On arrival there is a booklet of suggestions for places to visit and local restaurants as well as guidance for using TV, Wifi etc and safety and contact details. A local person has agreed to act as keyholder and liaison should the owners not be available. This person will answer any queries and provide advice. Please note a completely new and fully equipped kitchen and an extension to provide a sunroom have recently been completed as well as new furnishings. Heating is mainly via thermostatically controlled electric and storage heaters with a "real flame - French style" gas stove for cosy winter evenings in the sitting room. Talland View" sleeps up to four people in total comfort and has ample space and furniture to relax indoors or out. Outside: Private garden area partly laid to lawn with a large patio and ample seating for 6-8 people for dining. In addition there are two benches and a double "love" seat. One bench seat is situated up a short set of steps built into the cliff giving uninterrupted views over the bay. All seating areas overlook the sea. The bay is busy with royal navy ships as well as fishing and diving boats. There are also views across to nearby Rame Head where, by using the telescope, deer can often be seen. Because of its position the chalet is an excellent viewpoint for miles around - on clear days Looe, The Lizard Lighthouse and The Eddystone Lighthouse are easily visible. Often the local seabirds compete with hang-gliders for airspace right in front of and level with "Talland View" garden. Parts of the lawn are slightly uneven and as there is no fence from the garden families with young children or visitors with difficulties walking need to be attentive. A Gas BBQ is available for visitor use. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: High quality towels and linen are provided at the beginning of the stay (not beach towels) for a maximum of 4 visitors and changed on a weekly basis. Additional cleaning and linen/towels are available if required. Talland View is a non smoking property. Other: A small but stunning sunroom with chaise-lounge original art work makes this a spacious/light and very attractive property for 2-4 people. Each bedroom has its own bath/shower room. Talland View is a detached and private home with a secluded garden area
