Bungalow in Widemouth Bay, Bude, Cornwall, England - Close Enough To Easily Walk To The Beach But Away From The Coastal Road

'Tanglin' is a detached 3 bedroom bungalow on a quiet side road. It has a large garden ensuring a degree of privacy. Its bedrooms are at the back of the house guaranteeing an undisturbed sleep for younger children. There are 'sea glimpses' rather than sea views from all of the bedrooms. It is set back far enough from the road to give driveway parking for 2 large cars though it is possible to enjoy a holiday without ever driving anywhere until it's time to leave. Neighbouring properties have been described by Estate Agents as being "a stone's throw" or 200m from the beach though we have measured it at 300m to the shoreline and timed it about 3 minutes walk. The map shows its position accurately!

We are a family of 5 living in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire. We have 3 school age children and we fit our own holidays in Tanglin around bookings as they come in.

Why Tim Woolcock chose North Cornwall

Tim's grandparents bought Tanglin as a holiday home in the mid 1970s and it has been in the family ever since.

We have been enjoying the benefits of their foresight ever since. There have been many properties built in Widemouth since but few have that perfect balance of closeness to beach and privacy. We used to enjoy staying in Tanglin as a couple but since having children of our own, we have come to appreciate its location and layout even more so.

What makes this bungalow unique

We used to enjoy staying in Tanglin as a couple but since having children, we have come to appreciate its location even more so. How many other places can you realistically carry children home all the way from the beach and then be sure that they will sleep soundly without being disturbed by strange noises in the night? Now that the children are slightly older, we enjoy walking together to Bude along the coast path or across the fields and then following the restored canal on windier days. Perhaps stopping off at 'Elements' or the 'Weir Cafe/restaurant' on the way home.

We had an amazing week of weather and Tanglin was perfectly positioned to just enjoy the gorgeous beach and the sea. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Widmouth Bay, which gave us a memorable holiday for our little 2 year old who loved the huge lawn, the beach, the rock pools, etc etc! (July 2012)



Tanglin was fantastic! It lived up to our recollections and more. Our stay was extremely comfortable and the Scrabble and recipe book [ scones ] helped on the rainy days! Didn’t stop us getting to the beach though. (July 2012)



.....not the most imposing property to arrive at, but my goodness, without a doubt the best equipped and certainly the cleanest and most comfortable we've stayed in. It was lovely, and the position couldn't be much more perfect, whatever the weather. (Sept 2011)
