About Jo Bednall

Ridgehead Farm originally formed part of the Harper-Crewe Estate but then fell derelict, the main buildings were rebuilt some 25 years ago. In 2008 an historic barn on the farm was painstakingly converted by us into two luxury holiday cottages.

I have lived at the farm for 16 years with my husband Clive and our 13 year old daughter Lucy and a variety of pets.

I have had a lifelong love of horses which has been passed onto Lucy, we both regularly compete at local and regional competitions, consequently the equine facilities at the farm have been vastly improved.

We live in the main farmhouse approx 100m from the cottages and are there to offer you a warm welcome on arrival and available to offer local advice and answer any queries during your stay.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I don't think I have ever seen so may stars in the sky, it really felt as though we were on top of the world. Thank you Clive and Jo for providing this better than, home-from-home.

Judith and Howard, Surrey

The cottage was even better than the photos, it was warm and cosy and the views were beautiful.

A shining example of how it should be done.

Just perfect

  • 5 of 5

We have just spent a week exploring and walking in the beautiful Dales with our young labrador. Coming back each evening to the lovely, warm, comfortable and well equipped cottage was just perfect for us all. Highly recommended property.

Very comfortable property with wonderful views

  • 5 of 5

An exceptional barn conversion. Everything was provided that we could possibly need including heating (in July) which made it very cosy (it was pretty chilly outside). Much appreciated. All the equipment : TV, stereo, pots and pans and decor was first rate. Comfortable beds too.

The description was accurate, the property was well maintained, the owners were very helpful and welcoming. The folder provided useful information including local pubs two of which we tried and much enjoyed for an evening meal.

Easy journey to Buxton from here and the festival (the reason for our visit).

Suspect we got much better value for money staying here.

Add those wonderful views and the animal interest - horses dogs and hens - and would definitely recommend to friends and hope to return ourselves.

Relaxing Break

  • 5 of 5

We have just spent a wonderful long weekend in Snipe Cottage. What a beautiful place. The cottage was immaculate and decorated to a very high standard. We loved the choccy biscuits and wine in the welcome basket and the under floor heating and comfy beds. Just what we all needed after a day of walking and bike riding in the local area. We were made very welcome - kids loved the horses too.

Perfect if you are in need of a get away from it all place to recharge the batteries. Would return and recommend to everyone.

Comfortable and relaxing break away from

  • 4 of 5

We have just returned from a long, winter, week-end break at the Snipe cottage. There were four of us and one large dog and we all enjoyed the break, the location and the cottage.

Snipe cottage is situated on a ridge overlooking the moors; it has easy access to walking around the Roaches and the Chrome Hill area. The views are stupendous and Jo and her family (and their dogs) make you very welcome. The cottage is well furnished, Jo leaves a nice welcome pack and, at the end of a days walking, the cottage is warm and inviting. We will return!
