Free Wi-Fi is now available. Unusual spacious property being a former Brewery and artists studio on three floors offering a large family living space incorporating the kitchen, dining and living areas on the top floor. This room also has a huge skylight which make it very light and airy. There are 3 bedrooms each with a bathroom on the floor below and garage and utility room at the ground floor. It has a patio and rock garden outside which will seat 8 with distant views to the hills beyond. The house stands to the rear of a courtyard away from the main road where the rear entrance and car parking are also situated. The front entrance leads to the patio and down a path to the road from which it is a short and level 2 minute walk into town.

Christine and I live in Baslow just 4 miles from Bakewell and so are able to be on hand to look after our cottages and our guests if there are any problems. We have a local business which provides services all over the Peak District and so we love the area and know it well and are always pleased to give local information to help you make the most of your stay.

Cannot fault this property. The location was perfect. The rooms were exactly as advertised. For 3 couples there was enough space to ensure not on top of each other, but could enjoy each other's company. My only regret is that due to the time of year we didn't use the terrace, because we all reckoned it would be idyllic in the summer. Maybe next time.

We had a great week at Brew House and it suited our needs perfectly. House was very spacious, and had everything we required for 3 generations of our family plus dog. Lovely, clean, comfortable and very warm which was appreciated as we experienced every weather condition possible during an Easter break, including sun and snow. The open plan lounge, kitchen diner was great and it was lovely to chill out on an evening on a sofa each... Bliss! Parking is tight but never a problem for us, we are used to town parking and if two spaces at house don't suit permit parking is literally a stones throw and no problem at all. Terrace garden is lovely, all enclosed and our dog approved!! Perfect location for 5 minute pleasant stroll into Bakewell and central location for exploring caves, Plague village etc. Courteous and pleasant communication from owners throughout. We certainly recommend Brew House and will return again. Many thanks to Charles and Christina.

We had a girlie weekend for our 50th birthdays and Brew House was perfect, plenty of space, lovely rooms, well looked after. Welcome parcel is a lovely touch. Some reviews complain about the parking. Yes, it's tight but to have 3 parking spaces in the heart of Bakewell is fabulous. Would definitely recommend this place

Wonderful stay!

My party of 5, 3 small dogs and I stayed here for a short break in November.

Brew House was perfect for us as it allowed us to all stay together and was the perfect location for my wedding weekend, with being so close to Bakewell Town Hall and my reception venues. The dogs were happy with their daily walk past the river and to the park. Bakewell is such a lovely place for dogs.

The parking was another big bonus but, as others have said, it can be tricky getting out of the courtyard when the other residents are there too! Lots of manaeorving!!

The living area is the highlight and we felt so at home. The house is airy and big enough to feel spacious even with a large party. The house was immaculately clean and modern. The heating was very efficient and very warm, even in November!

We wish we could have stayed longer! Thank you!

Enjoyable stay

The Brew House is ideal for two or three couples or a family with three pleasant bedrooms and three modern bathrooms. The property is "quirky", being on three levels with the living area on the top floor, but this only adds to its charm and we loved the little patio garden with views over the town. The kitchen is very well equipped and the living accommodation comfortable. Parking in Progress Court can be a little hairy but the fact that the Brew House is only a short walk into town so easily more than made up for any slight parking inconvenience. The river walk into the centre of Bakewell is delightful. We had a great stay and would book again.

Not wishing to be disrespectful to the owners,but you need to show pictures of the garden area and parking area,and also state that one of the parking spaces is down the road on a public car park ,we took two vehicles,mine wouldn't go in the garage,and when we squeezed in my father in laws BMW,we had to have it sticking out of the garage in order to shut the house door, the garage door wouldn't shut down ,so there was no security, my car couldn't be parked in front of the garage, because it obstructed the neighbouring flats from accessing the bins.

The entrance to the courtyard is on a blind spot in the road,so you have to pull up on the main road,and reverse in ,the car park is also shared by 9, or 10 other flats, so it is unbelievably cramped when all the cars are there,and is impossible to turn your car around in,

The patio garden ,is totally unsuitable for dogs as there is no grass area,and it is surrounded by onlooking neighbouring properties,no privacy,

The property was so unsuitable ,that having stayed at various different holiday cottages in the area over the years,we imeadiatly went out to try and find one ,that was available,luckily we found one ,but that cost me an extra £520 ,so our 1st night was not a good start to our holiday,

Descriptions are deceptive, On a positive note ,I must say that the bedrooms and main room looked very suitable ,and were described and

shown well in the photos,

Owner's Response: Our description has been described as misleading which is unfair and was certainly not our intention, rather that in hindsight, given this guests specific requirements, a bit short of information which has now been rectified. In the past the garage has housed an Aston Martin Vantage, but it is fair to say it's best suited to an average sized car, in this case the two cars were a BMW X5 and a Range Rover Discovery. However the space behind the garage will take any car including my Volvo 4x4 and it's not necessary to reverse in off the main road to the courtyard, which can however get a bit cramped when all the residents are in occupation. The 3rd space is a street Parking Permit which allows parking less than 100 yds from the house in a designated area, but in this case the guests were adamant that they didn't do street parking and could not park away from the house. The reality is that when in Bakewell itself, parking is at a premium, and it's very expensive to use a public car park, therefore what we offer is both unusual and the best compromise. With regard to the outside space, this has always been described as a patio garden and no suggestion has ever been made that it is private or suitable for dogs to run around freely despite the fact it is fully enclosed. We are happy to accept dogs and there are plenty of nearby areas where dogs can be walked which is again a compromise of being in town and near the facilities that it offers. These guests acknowledged to me that they needed wide open countryside and therefore regrettably Brew House wasn't suitable for them.

Brew House is such an unusual property in that it offers the friends or family group the opportunity to socialise together in warm comfortable surroundings whatever activities you want to do.It is very close to the centre of town yet is also quiet and has great amenities in parking and accommodation. Christine and I moved to the area 18 years ago and set up a business providing services to local residents and businesses which has enabled us to become a part of the community and also get to know the area very well. We love the beauty of the countryside and the diversity of the different villages, the local customs and festivals and of course the people who live here. Bakewell is the centre of the Peak District and is a tourist attraction in itself, but it also makes the surrounding area very accessible by car, on foot or by public transport.

Special interest holidays:

If you are a cyclist or walkers we can help with local trails and walks. There are several cycle trails for the less adventurous or children such as the Monsall Trail or Tissington Trail which are both old railway lines and so are relatively flat and easy to navigate. There are of course many hill tracks and trails where we can give advice.

There is fly fishing available on the River Wye.


We are about an hour from Manchester and East Midlands Airports.

The nearest train station is at Grindleford and the nearest large main line stations are in Chesterfield or Sheffield.

The area is well served by buses from the centre of Bakewell and taxis are available in town.

Brew House is very spacious and rather unusual as it is an "upside down" house. The benefits of this are that the large living space makes a very light and warm area where everybody can get together and enjoy one another's company whether cooking, eating or just relaxing. Free Wi-Fi is now also available. There are very few if any other houses available in Bakewell with the accommodation the Brew House offers in having 3 bedrooms and bathrooms and parking for 3 cars all within 300 yds of the Town Centre. The walk into town is flat and level and so is very easy giving great access to the shops, pubs and restaurants without getting the car out.

  • Notes on accommodation: A superb family or group property because of the large, light and warm living space which enables everyone to be together whether they are cooking, eating or just relaxing. It also has direct access to the outside space which is a sun trap. The house has the luxury of each of the 3 bedrooms having their own bathroom yet the house is just 300 yd level walk into the centre of Bakewell with its pubs, restaurants and shops. The parking for 3 cars comprises a garage suitable for medium and small cars, a parking area behind for any car and a street Permit Parking at a nearby parking area. Bakewell is a lively market town in the centre of the beautiful Peak District National Park giving easy access to sights such as Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, the Caverns of Castleton or Alton Towers. On the doorstep is the beauty of Lathkill Dale and Dovedale, the drama of the Dark Peak area and many pretty villages where you can walk, cycle or just soak up the atmosphere. Outside: There is a patio and rock garden to the front with extensive views and direct access from the Living room. There is a table and chairs to seat 6 and 2 further deck chairs. There are also spare chairs in the house suitable for use outside as well. Utility Room: Separate washing machine and tumble drier, drying rack, ironing board and iron.
