About the Owner

We are a family living between South East England and Saudi Arabia, with various businesses and occupations such as Property, Counselling and Import/Export. We were searching for an ideal holiday home for several years and Turkey, in particular Kalkan, was perfect.

Although we are fairly new to Kalkan, we have had many years' experience accommodating people from all over the World. Our wish is to provide our guests with a fantastic holiday experience. Giving honest descriptions, helpful advice, prompt responses and the services of an efficient manager are some of the qualities you can expect from us. We want you to want to return again and again (as we do!) so we are keen to make our holiday home as welcoming for you as possible.

Guestbook comments from the owner

April 2013. We can highly recommend this as a holiday home. It is fully equipped, the views both day and night are spectacular. The large outside space offers sun/shade, privacy and great areas to dine or relax. The large pool is most refreshing and the ground floor shower useful after a swim. You can walk into Kalkan, small supermarkets are close by and we would definitely recommend checking out some of the historic sights near by. We hope to return soon, many thanks. David & Kath, Yorkshire.

June 2013. Having experienced other villas in Kalkan and around the World we think this villa is great and in a fantastic location. The pictures don't do it justice. The best thing for us was the huge roof terrace, pool and the views are the best.

Nick & Angie, Aberdeen

July 2013. Enjoyed your villa very much. Our teenagers were very happy - didn't move much! - liked watching DVDs, hammock, pool, walking into town to eat/shop in the evenings.

Wonderful holiday

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I with our two daughters (early twenties) have just returned from a wonderful two weeks in Kalkan. Villa Jasmine provided the perfect base - an easy walk to the town centre, harbour, supermarket and market, and a £2 taxi ride home for the lazy days when the heat made the (uphill) walk home seem like too much effort. Villa Jasmine was very clean, well maintained and well-equipped for all our needs, although we spent most of our time outside! The photos don't really do it justice. The day beds on the roof terrace and balcony are very comfortable, but we spent most of our time on the terrace around the pool, as we enjoyed watching the tortoises lumbering around the gardens. There was also a hedgehog that came out most nights! The owner Jacqueline was very helpful when I asked a few questions before booking, and Mehmet could not have done more to make our stay totally relaxing, arranging our transfers, boat trips, water deliveries and somewhere to stay for our last day when we had a late flight home. Thank you Mehmet!

We loved the boat trips, the market and all the restaurants are very good - our favourites are Kaya, (with resident magician and organic food from their farm), Chillies (the lovely Mr Happy!), and Baharat (outstanding food on lovely roof terrace). We got a take-away delivered from Hunkar and the delivery chap even went to the supermarket to get something for us that they didn't have!! Our boat trips were fantastic, it is a wonderful way to spend a day and do not miss a sunset cruise as well. Palm Beach was our favourite beach club - the lads working there made it such fun and were so friendly and helpful, and the guy who takes you there on the boat made us laugh every time!

We have been to Kalkan once before, in 2012, and do not normally return to the same place for holidays. However, Kalkan is a very special place with lovely friendly people, and we will all be going back as soon as we can.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the great review. It is always a real pleasure to hear that Villa Jasmine has been a place for happy memories and experiences for my guests. I have tried to create a home from home and everything I do there is with the thought "how would I like this...." if it were me spending a holiday alone or with friends/family. In fact, I have changed several aspects to the villa as they were not quite to my taste when I purchased it in 2012/13. It has been fun, challenging at times, but overall it has become very much a home from home for everyone. The many returners speak for themselves. Yes, Kalkan is a beautiful and unusual place. It seems to weave a spell on its visitors who keep returning year after year. Even though the world is such a troubled place, it feels good to be soaking up the sun on a gulet cruise or sitting out under the stars and enjoying a warm breeze. I believe life is for living and I'm pleased and proud of the British spirit which isn't put off by those who would try to scare us into staying at home by their evil deeds. The liveliness of Kalkan when I visited in June is testament to that spirit! My son and his new wife are just arriving, as I write this, for their long awaited honeymoon at Villa Jasmine. I look forward to welcoming you back to my home in Kalkan.

Villa Jasmine

  • 5 of 5

Villa Jasmine certainly helped to make our family holiday a wonderful one! We felt relaxed and chilled as soon as we arrived. The pool was perfect and we made use of it 24/7. The location was ideal, with everything within walking distance. There was just the right amount of sunny and shaded spots, and plenty of secluded areas to relax in if you wanted quiet time - great for family harmony! (My favourite being in the dappled shade of the hammock for an afternoon siesta.) The view from the roof terrace was amazing, both day and night - Kalkan is a beautiful place!

Villa Jasmine was perfect! Thank you.

Fantastic start to the Honeymoon!

  • 5 of 5

We really could not have picked a better villa to start our honeymoon! The villa was immaculate, the pool was fantastic and the rooftop terrace was just stunning with the beautiful views across the bay, and at night the clear skies to look up to where we seen plenty of Shooting Stars.

The pool is amazing, there is plenty of sunlight until around 6pm, though you do need to move from one side of the pool to the other due to the large trees. Whilst the trees may be a slight neusence, it allows perfect privacy without the neighbouring villas looking in. Worth noting that the pool is deep enough for diving :-).

The rooftop terrace was very special. Once the sun disappeared we went upstairs for half an hour with a wee drink to chill out before getting ready to go out. One night we stayed in and had a nice BBQ! Thankfully I'm a bit handy when it comes to cooking Turkish food.

Kalkan itself it stunning! It is obvious walking about that there is Greek history within the town, not worth explaining as it is blatently obvious when you are there. We were in Kalkan for 9 nights and did not have 1 bad meal, it was difficult to judge what my favourite was!! Sofra, Mussaka and Nar were my personal stand outs.

The Villa is well located and only a 10 minutes walk down and 15 minutes walk back. We didn't use taxi's at all for going out, the ability to walk home and jump straight in the pool was just bliss!

Last 2 things to touch on, Mehmet was a top lad and got us on such a fantastic Sunset / Moonlight boat trip, was a cracking night! and he popped by each morning to clean the pool up and didn't wake us up in the process.

Lastly, Jacqueline the owner was brilliant with us from the start, and it was such a lovely surprise when we turned up to see a bottle of Champagne (Good stuff by the way!!) and a nice wee card to congratulate us :-).

Can't think of much else to say, we're looking at our next years travel plans and hopefully can make it over again!

Fantastic Villa

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed a very relaxing holiday at Villa Jasmine.

This way our first visit to Turkey/Kalkan and we were very impressed with the area and the locals.

Lovely equipped Villa with fantastic views from the roof top terrace.

We did not hire a car as we usually do when we go away, many places are easy to reach on foot or via bus.

Enjoyed many boat trips exploring the beautiful coast.

A visit to the local market is a must and quite an experience.

We sampled many good restaurants as prices were very favourable.

In fact we enjoyed our stay at Villa Jasmine so much we are re booking for next year!

Lovely peaceful villa

  • 4 of 5

Just spent a relaxing week in Villa Jasmine enjoying good food, excellent weather and a great time with friends. This was our third time in Kalkan and first time in a villa which met all our needs. Villa Jasmine is situated in a small complex slightly up the hill off the Kalamar Road. The walk into town is pleasant and villa is perfectly situated for the supermarket, beach clubs and amenities. The local people are very helpful and the villa is well equipped should you wish to dine in.We made use of the BBQ and wonderful views from the roof terrace. The pool is perfect, very private and looks beautiful lit up at night. The day bed ideal for morning sunshine.

There is lots of information in the villa to ensure you make the most of your stay at Villa Jasmine and Mehmet is very helpful.

As there are several Villa Jasmines it may be worth noting this one is in the Palm Square - this helps with delivery and taxi purposes.

I'm sure this won't be our last visit to the lovely picturesque Kalkan.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Kath, for writing a lovely review. I'm always delighted to know that guests enjoy Villa Jasmine as much as I do. I find the taxi drivers know which Jasmine I mean by saying "Palmiye Evleri, up from the Chinese Restaurant"! I hope to be able to welcome you back one day.

This was our fifth villa holiday in Kalkan and we found Villa Jasmine the most comfortable and private holiday home we have rented. It is very hot in July when we have always visited Turkey, but the villa has lovely shady areas to relax in if lying on the good quality sunbeds or swimming in the wonderful pool proves too much. The hammock under the olive tree, sofabed on the balcony and shaded seating area on the roof terrace were all well used at various times of the day and night. The villa was ideal to stay in with our adult children as we all enjoy the sunny days and abundant choice of good-quality restaurants in Kalkan. The roof-top barbecue with its wonderful views was a highlight, followed by card games and a bottle of wine under the stars. The Swan on the way to the town centre provided a great Pool table for an early-evening father and son contest before dinner! Mehmet looked after us very well making the holiday hassle-free. Thank you, Jacqueline, for sharing your lovely villa.

Owner's Response: Wow. I am so proud that you found Villa Jasmine to be the best you've experienced in Kalkan as I know there are lots of lovely villas to choose from. I get a real thrill knowing my guests have a great holiday and it is a pleasure sharing my holiday home with them. I didn't know about the pool table at the Swan and will try it next time! Thanks again Susan and David, I hope to welcome you back again soon.

From the Owner

Kalkan is a rare find in these days of mass tourism. It is far enough away to escape the crowds yet pleasantly geared for the more discriminating tourist. Nestling as it does in the foothills of the impressive Taurus mountain range around a pretty and ancient harbour, Kalkan entices you to want to get to know it better. There are so many little alleyways welcoming you with overhanging balconies, rooftop restaurants and pretty boutiques selling everything from jewellery, handbags and ceramics to nuts and turkish delight. You are spoiled for choice for there are 100 restaurants, serving simple dishes as a snack or a full three course dining experience you won`t forget. The pebble beach next to the harbour is a favourite of ours with crystal clear water and beautiful, peaceful surroundings.

Activity and Interests

Car: not necessary

Kalkan is a enchanting harbour village in the foothills of the Taurus mountains & overlooking a beautiful bay. Next to the harbour is the popular pebble beach with crystal clear water. Distance from the Villa approximately 15-20 minutes by foot. There are also two fabulous sandy beaches easily reached by car or dolmus. 10 mins and 30 mins by transport respectively. Sun beds and umbrellas can be hired.

Dalaman 1:30 hrs

Antalya 3:00 hrs

Car hire not essential.

We can help arrange transfers to and from Dalaman Airport. Cost, approx £55 - £70 depending on number of passengers. Antalya Airport transfers approx £100 each way.

5 minutes' walking brings you to supermarkets, banks, atm, bars and restaurants. 12 minutes' easy walking to old town and 15 minutes' to the beach. 10 minutes' walk to the bus (dolmus) station. From there you can travel to Kas, Fethiye, Patara beach and many other places of interest. Travel by dolmus is inexpensive. Taxis can be hired for the day. Car hire is reasonably priced and easily arranged locally or from the airport.

Further Details:

Watersports can be found at the many beach clubs within easy access. Mountain/hill walks along the Lycian Way. Art Club meets every Wednesday early and late season. Turkish baths (Hammam) 10 minutes' walk away. Bus station nearby for trips further afield. Boat trips are widely available, inexpensive and a great way to view the beautiful coastline from the sea. Lunch is provided onboard and is delicious, followed by swimming and snorkelling in little bays.

Local supermarkets stock a wide variety of familiar foods and there are greengrocers, butchers and bakeries close by. Changing currency is easy either in the many banks on the main road or for a slightly better rate at some of the shops which double up as currency exchanges! Most restaurants and some shops will accept sterling if you have run out of turkish lira. There are over 100 restaurants/bars, many of them with roof terraces with fabulous views where you can sample delicious turkish dishes (meze) and fresh fish, lamb and beef. Kebabs are an excellent lunch or a late night snack.

Kalkan is a hilly town and generally the higher you are the better the views. Jasmine Villa is very well positioned; a short distance away from the hustle and bustle of the main roads into town yet near enough for an easy amble to get to shops, old town and the harbour/beach. With amazing views of the sea and mountains, it really has it all.
