In a maginificent position on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, offering far reaching views of the wooded valleys and countryside. The four cottages are converted 18th century stone farm buildings. Great care has been taken in creating each one to blend in with the original features with all the modern conveniences you would expect. Still boasting timbered ceilings and stone walls, each cottage has a well equipped kitchen, gas fired heating, electricity for cooking and entertainment. There is a colour tv with freeview, DVD player, CD/radio and a microwave in each cottage, along with an iron and ironing board and hairdryer. All bed linen, together with towels and tea towels provided. All cottages are non-smoking. 3,4 and 7 night breaks available all year. Our full weeks commence Friday or Monday in main season but we can be flexible in winter.

Autumn stay at Sproxton Hall Cottage

Thank you for a lovley stay in your cottage the other week (28th Oct to 4th Nov). It was a lovley cottage in a great location.

Once we found it! If you had said look out for the sandstone achway to turn off main road it would have been no problem.

The cottage was just what we need for a quiet stay and look around north yorkshire dales. The weather was grand and the views and trees showed off to their best. We would recomend this cottage for a holiday and it is very dog friendly.

Lovely cottages with stunning views.

We had a great stay at Sproxton Cottages. A good location to explore the local area, with stunning views and the added advantage of farm animals in the fields next to the cottages (which our 10 month old son loved). There is a spacious grassed area, ideal for outdoor games or picnics. The village of Helmsley is a couple of miles away, which has lots of places to eat, along with a fantastic walled garden by Helmsley Castle. Lydia was very friendly and hospitable, providing cake on arrival. There were a good selection of leaflets available in the cottage, which detailed activities and events in the local area. We had some great days out; Pickering station is a 20 minute drive away with heritage steam trains that travel to Whitby, and Castle Howard is a 10 minute drive away. A fantastic holiday in a beautiful location.

Beautiful location, luxury cottages.

Myself and my family had a fantastic stay, the owner is very accommodating, the cottage was beautiful and very comfortable. But thing that set it apart was all the essentials that were provided, even down to board games, dvds, and a basket of toys to keep our 3yr old entertained. The location is stunning, with fantastic views, but a safe area for the children to play. All in all, couldn't ask for any better.

lovely cottage

Ryedale is good cottage for someone who is disabled .Providing you can get into non wet room shower and take own toilet seat raiser.

It is always clean, tidy and owners very helpful. Lovely scones ,jam and cream or mince pies at Christmas on arrival.It is all on flat. The location is good with stunning views which you can sit inside at table and look at. It is also good area for walks, close to lovely small town of Helmsley and many other interesting places to visit.

Superbly relaxing and comfortable

We travelled up to meet with our son and needed a cottage, with a view that was comfortable and competitively priced and allowed dogs. Ryedale cottage fitted into all of these categories. My wife and I were really able to relax and enjoy our time in Yorkshire because of the super comfort, excellent view and relaxing atmosphere. We really hope to stay in this area again sometime in the future and sincerely hope that Ryedale will be available when we are in the area again. This is an ideal place to stay and comes highly recommended from Pete and Fran from Plymouth. Thank you very much.

Beaches can be found approx. 30 miles away on the east coast, including Whitby, Scarborough, etc.

Distances:

Our cottages stand in the peaceful hamlet of Sproxton, just over one mile from the ever popular market town of Helmsley. Some of the country's top attractions are right on your doorstep. Including York (cobbled streets, quaint shops, Minster and Viking Centre), Rievaulx Abbey, Castle Howard, Nunnington Hall and Ryedale Folk Museum. Nearby Flamingo Land Theme Park and Zoo and the famous North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway are favourites with children and adults alike. All within thirty mins.

Further Details:

Just over one mile from the ever popular market town of Helmsley. On the banks of the River Rye, Helmsley is reputed to be one of Yorkshire's most popular market towns, offering shops, delhis, restaurants, pubs and cafes. It is a gathering point for walkers starting the Cleveland and Ebor Way. Sproxton Hall Cottages are in fact situated on the Ebor Way.

We have three alpacas at Sproxton, Hercules, Horatio and Heathcliffe.

  • Outside: The cottages have a shared garden to the front with table/chairs for al-fresco dining. A further area for sitting out is available (picnic benches) on the paddock adjacent to the cottages. We have sheep, pigs and chickens within our two acre site, all of which can be enjoyed by adults and children alike.
