About the Owner

Although born and raised in the UK, I now live with my wife in Switzerland. This gives us the wonderful opportunity of easily exploring many countries in Europe.

The house was purchased mainly as an investment but also a place where we could possibly retire to.

In the first year I spent many months visiting Spain, completing the refurbishments, a new pool and ensuring the house was a home from home.

Very nice villa

It was very hot during the month of August (over 37 Celsius most days) but the villa is air conditioned so we were nice and cool.

There were lots of films on the TV there so we watched lots of these in the daytime when it was too hot to go out.

We then went to laze by the pool in the late afternoons because the water had warmed up by then. The kids swam and did some jogging

in the paved garden in the cool evenings. It rained on just one day.

The villa is high on the hill so has beautiful panoramic views of the local area. It was "Paella week" so the locals had parties , drums, fireworks etc. every night until about 6am sometimes ! Because it is so hot in the daytime, I think many people party at night.

The washing machine is in a room underneath the swimming pool.

We washed our clothes daily and hung them out to dry on the clothes line. They dried by 3pm each day.

The closest good supermarket and 24hour garage was at Viillonga (3km away) which had everything.

We hired an air conditioned car from the Valencia Airport so we were nice and cool on our daytrips to Valencia and Gandia. Valencia is about 90km North of this villa and travel time was about 100 minutes (1 hour 20 minutes).The motorways are fast at 120km/hour and smoother than in the UK. There was a small Motorway (Autovia) toll to pay of 5.15 Euros to pay each way. Valencia is a smart city just like Marbella.The road signs inside Valencia were difficult to understand because our Spanish is poor and there was a one way road system. The blue Motorway (Autovia) signs were for a place called "Torrent" to get out of Valancia city and the signposting was unclear.

Gandia was 12km North West of the villa and the road signs were more logical and easier to follow. The marina area is very smart and we had a nice lunch of Paella by the sea, which my wife loves to do every year. There is apparently a sandy beach near the marina at Gandia too.

We parked the big car 150 metres from the villa on the road , because the small road directly in front of the villa does not have enough space to turn around a big car like an estate car or an MPV.

We chose a location close to Gandia because it offered a perfect balance between a holiday destination and a real feeling of Spanish culture. Being located in the village of Ador, we can enjoy the magnificent views across the whole region together with peace and tranquility but still be just 15 mins drive to the beach.

The beaches of Gandia are 12km from the villa, which takes about 15 minutes by car. There are several beaches along the coast to chose from and all are very clean.

Due to the golden sands that stretch all along this coastline, there are numerous beaches to choose from. Many have been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag award as a result of both clean water and facilities available.

The main town of the Safor region is Gandia, a thriving, historical, coastal town, popular with Spanish tourists. Here you will find a variety of great shopping areas, street cafes and restaurants as well as range of nightlife in the nearby Gandia Playa.

HOW DO I KNOW THIS IS NOT A SCAM? Sadly, scammers are now targeting listing sites by gaining access to the email accounts or adverts of owners and therefore intercepting messages and payments. The listing sites do little or nothing to combat the problem. How can you avoid being a victim? Most owners will have a varied web presence and can be found elsewhere with a little homework.   • Outside: The villa is surrounded by various terraces, at different levels. The pool is located at the highest level and it completely secure, being surrounded by walls and accessed via a small gate. The 10x5m pool uses a salt water chlorination system which results in silky smooth water where the chlorine present is almost undetectable. At the back of the house, outside the kitchen is the BBQ area, with a permanent gas BBQ. Being shaded from the sun, it offers the perfect place to have lunch during the day. Utility Room: Summer kitchen with gas hob, large American style fridge / freezer, washing machine, ironing board and iron. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are provided. There are also beach towels available, if required. Other: Separate dining room with table and chairs for 6 people
