Detached House With Fabulous Sea Views

Updated: 11-Oct-2016
House in Pendoggett, Port Isaac, Cornwall, England - Peaceful Village With Local Pub

Upside down living which offers 4 bedrooms downstairs with separate bedroom 5/second tv room upstairs adjacent to huge contemporary open plan living space, the views are so fabulous even washing up is a pleasure! North Cornwall offers so much to everyone - the house is near to surfing beaches, such as Polzeath; the Cornish Coastal Path which is a 30 minute walk from the house along a beautiful woodland valley, the famous town of Rock where you can learn to sail etc.. There you are a stone’s throw away from Padstow and the bars, restaurants and shops it has to offer. Just to our north are the legendary Tintagel and the nearly washed away in the floods of 2004, Boscastle. So much to see and do during your holiday that you can be busy all week or simply sit on the first storey deck overlooking stunning views and watch the world go by. Bliss.

Great location

  • 4 of 5

Port view certainly has a fabulous view, its in a great location, within easy reach of all the attractions Cornwall has to offer. The house its self is spacious, clean and has everything you need for self catering. The beds were comfortable and bedding spotless, the heating worked well and the log fire in the lounge is a great addition. Id love to give 5 stars for this property but the damp/mould problem throughout the downstairs was unacceptable. If this gets sorted I'd have no hesitation to go back

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We are very glad you had a great holiday. The damp problem is being dealt with this winter. We are having new windows put in during November which we hope will very much improve the situation. We had a damp specialist come and give his opinion and he said that the new windows should really help as it is not a rising damp problem. Thanks and I hope we can welcome you back one day. Best wishes Emma and John

Great holiday house for two families and dogs

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week and the house was perfect for all of us. Great living space upstairs - with fantastic views. Really comfortable beds and good location for exploring this area of Cornwall. Our favourite days were walking along Daymar Bay when the tide was out and around to Rock - where we sat outside in the sun at the Mariner's Inn (Nathan Outlaw's pub) - which served fantastic food. Coastal walk from Lundy Bay around to Port Quinn is worth doing (with coffee and cake served from old Citroen van). Thank you Emma and John - a great holiday!

Fabulous week

  • 5 of 5

What a fabulous week we had in this upside down house. Perfect for exploring all of Cornwall, you can easily reach the north and south coast and landsend isn't so far either.

The house is has an open, very clean and spacious with upstairs living so whoever is preparing tea can see everyone if they watching tv or doing jigsaws on the table (there are plenty to choose from). You can see the sea from the living area and the cows in the fields next door.

The bedrooms are nicely decorated too

Thank you for sharing this house with us we had a wonderful week and didn't want to come home 🏡

Fabulous Place to stay for a large group!

  • 5 of 5

This property was very spacious, beautifully presented and well equipped. Three generations stayed here in the summer and we were fortunate enough to have lovely weather (except one awful day so we popped to Eden!). The local beaches are great for surfing and there are plenty of places to visit such as Padstow, Rock and Port Isaac. The upstairs open plan living area, opening onto the bbq terrace, makes for very sociable living. Loved the local fish and chips and the nearby pub which provided us with a very good thai takeaway. Plenty of space at the property for storing surf boards, golf clubs, etc etc. Owner was very friendly and helpful - we have booked again and looking forward to revisiting Cornwall this summer.

Pleasures of Port View

  • 4 of 5

Just returned home after an excellent week in Port View House with 3 generations of Owens and the dog. The house was perfect for everyone, especially the spacious and stunning backdrop of the open plan living area. Beautiful spring weather every day, easy drive to wonderful beaches and delicious Easter Sunday roast in The Golden Lion, Port Isaac. Managed climb at Tintagel, walk from Rock along beach to ferry for Padstow and back ( Padstow was heaving and pasty shop sold out!) complete a 1500 puzzle, play numerous games of pool in the pub and visit Kynance Cove at Lizard. Thank you so much for the loan of the house and would love to return as one week was not long enough.

Comfort in Cornwall

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from Port View House, having spent a comfortable, relaxing week in a beautiful home from home with the whole family. The house was ideal for a 3 generational stay, plenty of room for our family games but with those quiet chill out spaces as well. We made full use of the well equipped kitchen, only eating out on a couple of occasions and we had virtually all we needed.

We found the position perfect for us, spending days at some good beaches so the grandchildren could body board but also within easy reach of some really pretty tourist attractions too (loved Boscastle).

We did attempt the walk to Port Gaverne but I'm afraid it would be too much for us, we quickly realised the 1/2 hour quoted must be for the super fit and after a couple of the grandchildren had walked in cow pats (yuk) we gave up and returned!!

We didn't use the local 'Cornish Arms' too much, £7 for a glass of wine

when compared to £5.75 at Nathan Outlaws 2 Michelin starred restaurant was extracting the Michael a little too much for our liking!!

On the whole, if you are looking for a well fitted out, comfortable, modern party home for a holiday in this area, then Port View House is what you are looking for and I can recommend spending time here.

Emma, the owner was very helpful when we booked and I'm sure would go that extra mile for anyone who needed it. We loved it, thanks for a lovely holiday x x

From the Owner

This stretch of North Cornish coast has been a favourite for decades. We favour the estuarine beaches of Daymer Bay and Rock for tranquil walking beside a surf free sea but also love the windswept coast paths and crashing Atlantic ocean. Whether you want to surf, stroll or simply chill out this area keeps drawing us back again and again. Fabulous restaurants and quaint pubs with friendly locals only add to the joy of the area.

From the Owner

We chose Port View House because it offered something special, even in the depths of winter being able to enjoy the stunning views out to sea makes it a pleasure to visit, along with a woodburning stove to light and watch the storms roll in. Having a great pub less than a minute away and a footpath right down to the coast made the decision to buy that bit easier.
