The Little Hive is a self-contained one-bedroom annexe to the owner’s property and provides comfortable accommodation for two people. It is situated in a quiet rural setting on the outskirts of the picturesque village of St Agnes on the north Cornwall coast. The village, local beaches and the South West coastal path are all within walking distance. The property has a cosy beamed living room with a wood burning stove, a light and airy sun lounge which opens onto a small patio and a separate kitchen. The bedroom is ensuite and has stunning views along the coast and inland.

We moved to Cornwall in 2002 seeking a better work-life balance and we have certainly found it. We still enjoy everything Cornwall has to offer and make sure we walk every day on the beautiful cliff paths and beaches with our dog, Ruan.

Coastal Views

This property of one if the highest standards that could be found. Everything is at had and so so clean. Comfortable bed and beautiful scenery from the bedroom window. What a delight to behold and we were fortunate to find it. Thanks to Keith and Louse are time spent there was great. Our grandaughteer visited us and as soon as she entered Little Hive she exclaimed "WOW! - it is far better than our place". An acculade in itself.

A BEAUTIFUL ACCOMMADATION

A WEEK IN THE LITTLE HIVE IN ST AGNES WAS TO SHORT,WE MET KEITH AND LOUISE ON ARRIVAL.THEY HAD A BOTTLE OF WINE AND FLOWERS WAITING FOR US IN THE ACCOMMADATION WHICH WAS A VERY NICE TOUCH,THE PROPERTY WAS VERY CLEAN AND WELL MAINTAINED.ME AND CHRISTINE WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY TO FRIENDS OR RELATIVES.

WE WENT FOR LONG WALKS OVER THE BEACON, THE NEAREST BEACH WHICH WAS CHAPEL PORTH WAS OUTSTANDING.WENT TO ST MICHEALS MOUNT IN MARIZON AND THEN OF TO THE MINACK THEATER IN PORTHCURNO.

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR FOOD RESTURANTS YOU HAVE THE DRIFTWOOD SPA RESTURANT PUB OUTSTANDING FOOD ALSO THE ST AGNES HOTEL AGAIN LOVELY FOOD.

YES WE WILL BE BACK AGAIN AS WE HAD A LOVELY HOLIDAY.

What a fantastic place

Little Hive has everything that a couple require for a complete holiday. Strategically placed for St Agnes, the North Cornish coast, Truro, Falmouth & Roseland peninsula, Keith & Louise include everything a couple may require. It's cosy yet ample for two people and has extras like binoculars and maps. Though the owners live next door, your independence is paramount. Highly recommended

Location

We moved from a stone cottage on the Pennines with great views over the Yorkshire moors, near Hebden Bridge. We felt immediately at home in St Agnes and chanced upon a house and annexe with equally stunning views along the coast. A radical rebuild created a light filled house, making the most of the panorama.

Activity and Interests

Car: recommended

Coast/Beach:

Trevaunance Cove is about a 20 min walk away and the National Trust beach at Chapel Porth is a little further. Both beaches have car parks and are just a few minutes drive from the Little Hive. The north coast is rugged with spectacular cliffs and has numerous coves and beaches each with their own character, many are surfing beaches. The south coast is easily reached by car and is a popular watersports area.

Travel:

The nearest rail station is at Truro (9 miles) and the nearest airport is at Newquay (12 miles). There is a bus service to the village but use of a car is recommended. Even without transport there is enough interest to keep you busy within walking distance.

Truro, shopping, bars, clubs, restaurants, Cornwall Museum, galleries, theatre, cinema, Cathedral (9 miles)

Newquay, beaches, surfing, tourist hotspot, bars and clubs (12 miles)

Falmouth, sailing centre, Maritime Museum, alternative cinema, Rick Stein, university town with an arty vibe (16 miles)

St Ives, Tate Gallery, Barbara Hepworth museum, lots of small galleries, craft shops, beaches, beautiful train journey from St Erth (22 miles)

St Agnes has two butchers, two greengrocers, a bakery (lovely pasties!), a chemist, two small supermarkets, cash is available from the Post Office in the Nisa supermarket, four pubs, one bar, several coffee shops, craft shops and a choice of places serving food.

From the Owner

In 2012 we renovated the Little Hive to the same high standard as the main house, while retaining its cottage atmosphere. The living rooms, bedroom and kitchen all enjoy the panoramic views along the coast, as does the patio where guests can eat or relax overlooking the garden. The Little Hive is light during the day, and cosy with a log fire in the evening. The furnishings and original art works have delighted our guests so far. We hope that you will enjoy living here for a week or two as much as we do all year round.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: Electric heating in all rooms included in rental. First basket of logs for wood burning stove provided, additional logs at cost. This is a no smoking property and no pets are allowed. Outside: At the front of the House there is a shared drive which is used for off-road parking. At the back there is a small patio with table and chairs, ideal for having breakfast in the sun. The patio overlooks the garden and has views along the coast. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen and towels, except beach towels, are supplied. The property is cleaned at changeover. For longer stays extra cleaning can be arranged at additional cost. Other: Sun lounge with two bent wood armchairs and access to small patio with table and chairs.
