House in Porthmadog, Wales - Close To All Amenities, Harbour, Ffestiniog Railway And Porthmadog Golf Course

About the Owner

This was my childhood home and although I have lived in the Midlands for 40 years I need to come back to the sea and mountains as often as I can. The house has been much loved and I only hope that guests will love it too.

Comfortable,Clean and Homely

  • 5 of 5

Spent an enjoyable long weekend with my husband, son and his young family. Jenny ensured that my young grandaughter was well catered for with good quality highchair and travel cot which saved us having to pack our stuff!!

The house is ideally located to explore Snowdonia as well as the lovely little villages in the area. My husband and I even managed to get a game of golf in at Portmadog Golf Club which is just up the road.

As we had our grandaughter with us, we stayed in during the evenings which wasn't a problem as the house has great wifi for those of us that couldn't be without our technology and also there are plenty of books to borrow and board games which kept us entertained. Nice touch!

Great place to spend a couple of days. Shall definitely be back but next time will make it a longer stay!

Oh and one last thing, the beds are verrrry, verrrry comfy!!!

Thanks Jenny. A lovely home from home xxx

Ideal location

  • 5 of 5

It was a real home from home and set in just the right place for local shops, Pubs and restaurants. I went with my local camera club very close to so many scenic places. Quiet street but you may struggle for parking if you go in more than one car. The house was very clean and cosy. Will be going back next year.

Ideal location for visiting North West Wales

  • 5 of 5

The house is ideally placed for visiting North West Wales. The location within Porthmadog is really good. Although New Street is just off the main street, parking was never an issue, there was always a space within 100 yards of the house. The house itself was very spacious and well equipped with everything we needed. All the bedrooms and the reception rooms were large and gave us more than enough personal space. The courtyard garden was a suntrap in the afternoon. All in all, it is a good house in a good location, highly recommened.

Really welcoming!

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely loved the house, it was so much bigger than we expected! Really large rooms, very comfy beds, really clean and welcoming.

Jenny was very helpful and clearly cared about us enjoying our trip.

The local town is beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the harbour.

Overall a fantastic place to visit for a very reasonable price, will visit again.

Location

From the Owner

I bought the property from my parents to enable them to enjoy living there and have peace of mind with no financial worries. I love the area so much that I can't let the place go so decided to try holiday lets to help pay for the upkeep. I want people to enjoy my home and the surrounding areas.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

A 10 minute walk from Porthmadog harbour brings you to the lovely little beach at Borth y Gest. You can follow the coast path all the way to Morfa Bychan and there are numerous little coves along the way.

Alternatively, Black Rock Sands is a 10 minute drive away where you can take your car right on to the beach. Dogs are welcome on the right hand side.

Travel:

Use of car recommended to visit outlying places of interest although if you arrive by train it is possible to enjoy a lovely holiday.

Distances:

Portmeirion, the Italianate village where The Prisoner was filmed, is 2 miles away.

Ffestiniog Railway a narrow gauge steam railway is right on the harbour and travels all the way to Caenarfon.

Snowdon is accessible from Llanberis which is about 15 miles from Porthmadog.

Tremadog, a mere mile away has the superb restaurant Y Sgwar and in Porthmadog itself there are numerous restaurants and pubs including the award winning bistro The Grapevine.

Further Details:

There is a leisure Centre next to the railway station which is a very short walk from the house. It has a large swimming pool, Tennis courts, gym etc.

There is a Tesco supermarket, a Lidl and Aldi.
