About the Owner

My sister and I love the Algarve. Our Mum has lived here for nearly 30 years and we have visited many, many times. My Mum has a number of stray animals (9 dogs and 9 cats) so we decided it would be easier to buy apartments of our own nearby. We like our holidays near a beach, interesting things to see, lovely walks to see the local landscape, good markets and local shopping. We like to have places where we can eat local food and drink within a few minutes walking distance so that there is no need to drive - then there is no need to draw the short straw and miss out on the local wines.

Exactly as described !!

Excellent apartment - clean, well equiped and in a perfect location.

I'd recommend this property to anyone, situation across from the main church in the Old Town, it's a very quiet neighbourhood yet it's literally a two minute walk to the beach and main town square. The air conditioning in the bedrooms and living room was crucial given it was mid 30's for most of our stay and mid 20's during the night! The swimming pool was adequate for all the aparments in the complex and like everything else was in great condition with enough sun loungers for everyone. Security was good with a coded front door at night time and somone always on duty at the reception area. Merlin's bar is right across the road and provided a welcomed refreshment on the way home in the evenings, very friendly and no loud music! There are a few nice (well priced) restaurants with fantastic sea views just a few hundred yards away if you don't want to walk down town.

There are loads of shops, restuarants, bars, stall, entertainment etc going on all around the town square but if you want to check out the real 'lively' side of Albufeira it's worth taking a trip up to The 'Strip'. From the Fishermans beach take the elevators (yes - outdoors) up to the shelter at the top of the cliff and get the Tourist Train - it doesn't cost much and gets you to the top of the 'Strip' in about 20 minutes - much cheaper than a taxi.

All in all - the holiday was perfect - perfect weather, perfect apartment, perfect location and Albufeira has everything you need from a holiday destination great beaches, restaurants, shops and bars

**Highly Recommended**

Super apartment

  • 5 of 5

Communication with Julie was prompt and efficient. A very nice lady met us in the lobby and the check in was easy.

The position of the apartment is great, 5 min to beach (lovely) and 5 min to historic centre, close to the action but the location is quiet (we were lucky enough to be there the night Portugal won the Euro football...nowhere was quiet that night, but what an atmosphere!!). Restaurants and little supermarket on your doorstep. We did not have a car, but it was just a 15 min walk to the big LIDL or Aldi if you want a bigger/ cheaper shop.

The apartment is spotless, well equipped and was ideal for our family of 4 to have a fab 5 days in Albufeira. The pool area was nice, quite busy, but always found a lounger/parasol.

A really great apartment and experience, thank you Julie.

Bright , airy, spotlessley clean and tidy

  • 5 of 5

The property was well maintained and equipped with all the essentials. All the information about the apartment and surrounding area was very useful. Sara was friendly and approachable, and was available if needed. The pool area was always clean and our fellow holiday makers very friendly, it was a pleasure to use the pool. I already had an idea of the local amenities and loved the restaurants, having tried quite a few, all within a five minute walk. Loved the beach, again only a five minute walk. The fact that there is an uphill walk to the apartments would probably not be good for elderly guests, or those with mobility problems. Otherwise, perfect location, great apartment, home from home!! Would (and have) recommended it to friends and family!! Hope to go back next year!!

Brillant Accomadation

  • 5 of 5

Stayed in the Casa Turquesa 11/6/16 for a week, the apartment was clean and extremely comfortable. The apartment was well equipped with pots, pans and cooking utensils, whilst we ate out every night you could easily self cater. We look forward to returning. Julie the owner was extremely helpful and quickly answered any queries we had before we visited, arranged transfers from the airport and quickly refunded the security deposit.

Brilliant location , beautiful apartment

  • 5 of 5

Lovely apartment in a brilliant location just a few short minutes stroll into the old town. Spotlessly clean and has all the amenities you may need. The boys (8&6) loved the large pool and there's plenty of outside space and sun loungers by the pool. Would highly recommend a stay and will defiantly be back

Location

From the Owner

We love the area because it is just away from the hustle and bustle of the busy tourist area of Albufeira but close enough to walk to all the activity if you want. It is right in the old town so we can walk to the beach (got masses of lovely shells in Jan), to the marina, masses of restaurants and cafes and shops in a couple of minutes and the local beaches are so wide and stretch far into the distance. It is easy to get to, centrally located on the Algarve and has something going on most of the time in an every day normal Portuguese town. There is a lot to see at most times of the year from almond blossom in the spring to seeing the oranges picked during the picking seasons and there are always Festas and the carnivals in Feb\March.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

There are 250km of beaches on the Algarve so you can choose a different beach each day! The beach is three minutes walk away and the old town square is about five minutes. If you head to the little museum and shops at the end of the road and turn right you can walk on paths on the top of the cliffs above the beach to Albufeira Marina in 15 minutes.

Travel:

Faro is the international airport for visitors to the Algarve. Travelling by road should take 40 to 50 minutes depending on traffic and the route you take. It is about 48km from the airport to the apartment. A car is not necessary but if you decide to hire a car, all the international car hire companies are at the airport. It will take time but buses and trains go to Albufeira from near Faro marina.

Distances:

You are in the old town of Albufeira with churches, museums and markets. Furthest east is Vila Real (last town before Spain) it is about an hour (95km), to Sagres the furthest town west is about 1 hour 10 mins (83km) and into the Serra de Monchique about 45 mins (55km). Visit Zoo marine (8km from apartment), Aqualand, a splash and ride waterpark (11km), Parque Aventura, moving along trees in a series of games (4km) and the international sand sculptures exhibition at Pera (10km).

Further Details:

There is a taxi rank and bus stop one street away, where local buses, open top tour buses and coaches for tours stop. There are fairs and festivals throughout the year. Highlights are the jazz festival held in the summer in towns across the Algarve, food festivals such as the chicken festival at Guia and the Sardine festival at Olhos d'Agua. There are many 'Festa's' with processions honouring patron saints followed by entertainment and fireworks in the evenings and of course the annual carnivals in February or March depending on the timing of Easter. Water sports are available for those that are feeling active. In July and August, many sports events are held on the beaches. You can hire bikes, go horse riding, scuba diving and play tennis. But for those that want to relax, stroll to Fishermans beach to spend a lazy day enjoying the sun. And if you love walking, there are miles of walks along the cliffs and beaches. You can walk from the old town to Sao Joao via the beach and a cliff top walk with some stunning views of both Albufeira and further down the coast towards Vilamoura and Faro. There are many old churches and museums to visit – try Misericodia chapel, Igreja Matriz and don't forget to have a look around Sant' Ana church – right on your doorstep. A Gipsy / Flea Market is on 'Rua da Escolas' (near the municipal canteen) on the third Saturday of every month and a Market twice a month in Caliços on the first and third Tuesday of every month. There are masses of restaurants in Albufeira including traditional Portuguese food such cataplana and locally caught fish, Italian, Chinese, Indian and fast food outlets like McDonalds – practically anything you want. There are plenty of local bars and cafes. If you want to eat in, there are small local shops close by and a Lidls is a short walk away. If you have a car, there are many shops at the 'Algarve shopping' complex (15 minutes drive) and numerous larger shops such as Intermarche and Continente in Albufeira.

Facilities

From the Owner

Our favourite part of the apartment is the view of the old church and sea from the balconies and the amazing brightness from having so many doors and windows in the living area. We love nothing more than sitting on the balcony in the sun having breakfast or having a drink as the sun sets. I love exploring the local museums and churches and right in front of the apartment is Sant' Ana old church which is a typical white Portuguese church. On a Saturday at about 5.30 they practice playing tunes on the bells. It is really lovely, but sometimes out of tune. There is a large pool, children's pool and an underground parking space which are unusual in the centre of the town. Though we hire a car to visit my Mum there is really no need if you want to stay put and have a peaceful relaxing stay.
