This rustic style villa offers quality and comfort. With its own gated entrance, and shaded parking, The heart of the villa is a typical, large walled Andalucian Courtyard which is a wonderful sun trap, especially in the winter sunshine, with many shaded areas to sit and relax. Built into the hillside, the living areas are at the higher entry level with the bedrooms on the floor below. This modern villa is light and welcoming, while keeping a traditional Spanish feel to the property. With its warm terracotta tiles, and colourful rugs, it is a lovely place to stay whatever the season. The style throughout is rustic and charming. The view, from the villa itself, from the terrace which extends along its front and from the beautiful pool just below is splendid. We suspect you will spend a good part of your time here at the villa. You will relax immediately and enjoy all that is good about a holiday in rural Andalucia

About BARBARA GROUND

My husband and I retired from our business and moved to inland Southern Spain 5 years ago to be close to our daughter. She married a Spaniard 12 years ago and we have a grandson, Brandon and a Granddaughter, Alexia. It has been a wonderful move for us and we have happily settled into the Spanish way of life. Having a Spanish son-in-law has enabled us to integrate with the Spanish people and we enjoy the sunshine and the way of life and friends that we have made here. Living just 15 minutes away from the villa means it is always freshly prepared and we are there to greet guests when they arrive. After only recently been made available for holiday rentals, we look forward to sharing this lovely area!

Why BARBARA GROUND chose Guadalhorce (Costa del Sol)

With its stunning views and quiet location, this made it an easy choice for our Holiday Home. We very much enjoy the walks in the Countryside which surround the villa, especially in the springtime when the wild flowers appear, which is truly gorgeous. The sound of the river is never far away as it flows through the valley.

What makes this villa unique

Although situated in the Countryside, we are by no means cut off from all that the area has to offer. The convenience of having Malaga International Airport an easy 50 minutes away is a bonus after a tiresome journey, and the easy drive down to the Coast of the Costa del Sol with its lovely beaches, shopping and Restaurants can be enjoyed after a day by the pool soaking up the sun. For the energetic bikers, we have a marked cycle trail on our doorstep. There is plenty of space to bring and store your own bikes if you prefer.

We had such a lovely time

We were eager to escape the cloudy and cold Michigan winter and couldn't be happier with our choice of this house in Spain. We felt right at home and had everything we needed for our stay. The owners were both helpful and charming. We walked down to the river past olive and orange groves. There were many opportunities for photographs of the picturesque area. We especially liked the view across the river valley of the sheep grazing on the green hills. We like to cook for ourselves, and were happy with the supermarkets in Coin and the kitchen equipment. We are also used to streaming video instead of watching broadcast TV. If you are like us, you will be pleased to learn that the wi-fi brought in Spanish Netflix perfectly. We heartily recommend this villa to anyone.

breathtaking views...

A lovely villa in a peaceful part of Spain. Barbara meet us in Coin and lead the way to the villa, which was so helpful, as it is quite rural. Villa has everything you need, the many outside seating areas are lovely and with amazing views, very comfy,clean and homely.

We walked down to the river, which was very pretty, but you will need to hire a car to get around.

Barbara was very helpful and just a phone call away if you needed her (not that we did) thanks again, very enjoyable weekend break.

Relaxing holiday

Idyllic setting to relax away from it all. This is a lovely villa, well equipped and ticked all the boxes.

Barbara and Jamie were the perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them.

We spent time at the beach, made the drive into Malaga and visited Córdoba during our stay - Coin is about 10-15 minutes drive away.

We made the most of cooler early mornings to stroll down to the river or walk along the way marked trail which isn't far from the villa. Hopefully we can make a return trip one day..

Amazing

We stayed at the villa in June. On arrival we were met by the very lovely owners who showed us the way to the villa. This is essential as it's well off the beaten track. As soon as the electric gates opened we were impressed. The courtyard and gardens are very pretty, the pool and bbq area are clean and tidy with ample parking. The villa its self is large and spacious with 3 good sized bedrooms all furnished to a high standard. The kitchen is very well equipt with everything you need. The mountain views are outstanding. We had a great week and did a fair bit of traveling, location wise you're about 40 mins drive north of Marbella.

We wouldn't hesitate to book again.

Secluded sun paradise

My family and I spent a lovely quiet week at Barbara's villa. Great weather, great pool, 10 minutes outside of Coin. With free wifi and 25 minutes from Malaga this place was a great start to our 3 week holiday. Barbara was very helpful as she lives in the area. A must for families wishing a quieter experience of the Costa del Sol.

Very tranquil.

We were met by Barbara and taken to the Villa. When the electric gates scroll back it is very impressive, when they close behind you you leave the world behind!! It is an oasis of peaceful tranquility. The views are to die for. Lots of rolling hills and mountains to the rear.

The hosts Barbara and Jamie are extremely hospitable and helpful.

Just a note, if you arrive on a Sunday which we did there are no supermarkets open on a Sunday!!!

Everything you need is in Coin. Good supermarkets, restaurants and shops. Lots of areas to visit round about.

A car is necessary if staying at this property. Great pool.

A fabulous time had by all. Can't wait to return.

Coast/Beach:

It is an easy 45 minutes to the Coast of the Costa de Sol with its many beaches, water sports etc. The historic old town of Marbella and the beautiful city of Malaga are well worth a visit to the Coast.

Travel:

The main airport of Malaga is approximately 45 minutes drive from the property. Due to the rural location of the villa, a car is essential for the enjoyment of the area.

Distances:

The traditional Spanish town of Coin is just 15 minutes drive and can provide all your needs. From its large supermarket, Banks and many local shops, it also has

many great places to eat and drink, whether you just want a coffee, or a light tapas during the day, to its lovely restaurants serving local food and great value for money. Further afield, historic Ronda is within easy reach and the gorgeous National park of El Choro with its lakes and beautiful scenery can be visited.

Further Details:

For the energetic, there is wonderful hiking in the surrounding countryside, year-round cycling and golf is available within a few miles. A marked cycle trail is on your doorstep, and bikes can be hired from us for a small cost. This needs to be arranged when booking.

A 20% deposit is required to secure the booking, with the balance due 8 weeks prior to arrival. Bookings made within the 8 week period must be paid in full at the time of booking. A 100 pound Security Deposit is also requested with the final payment. This will be refunded in full providing no major damage or breakages have occurred within 5 working days. We are happy to quote for longer stays of one month or more during the off peak season on request.

Changeover Day:
During the high season of July & August, a Saturday check in/out is requested. We are flexible at other times of the year subject to availability. Check in time is no earlier than 4pm with check out time of 10am. Other times are by prior arrangement only.

  • Notes on accommodation: The accommodation is on 2 levels, with the bedrooms situated on the lower floor. This allows for these rooms to remain quite cool in the heat of the summer. The living area is nicely furnished and provides everything you need for a holiday home. All windows and French Doors have Mosquito Screens. Cosy king size duvets, a log fire (logs provided) all make this villa an ideal place to stay in the winter months when the sun still shines warm by day, but is cooler at night when the temperatures drop with the mountain air. Outside: From the Andalucian Courtyard with its beautiful built in Seating area, you immediately get the Spanish feeling for relaxing and chilling out. It is only one of the places that invite you to sit and enjoy that glass of wine. From the living area, French doors open onto a large covered patio which has gorgeous comfortable seating and tables and chairs. This is a wonderful place for dining and relaxing with its amazing views over the pool and countryside, makes this a favourite spot for reading or gathering at the end of another sunny day. From all the bedrooms, French doors open on to a covered terrace which runs the full length of the house and makes the best of the magnificent views - it make another place to sit and relax and enjoy the pleasant summer breezes in the shade. Across from this terrace, steps lead down to the gorgeous pool (9 x 5 mts) which enjoys day long sunshine and a wide terrace with plenty of space for sunbathing, and a built in Barbecue is situated. Utility Room: Fridge, Separate Freezer and washing machine Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen, towels, pool towels etc are included in the cost. These are changed weekly, with a mid term clean for those on a two week or more stay. Extra cleaning can be arranged if requested for an extra charge.
