About the property

A special hideaway in the Yorkshire Dales

The Hayloft is a unique place to stay with the privacy of your own home away from home. Hidden away at the end of our 17th century farmhouse - Hayloft is the perfect retreat from it all.

You have your own front door and can come and go as you please. You enter into the beautiful little kitchen where we will leave a complimentary 'Yorkshire Continental' breakfast for you to enjoy - no need to dash out on your first morning here. We'll supply you with local bread, milk, eggs, and cheese and locally bought cereals, and juice. There's a plentiful supply of cake, coffee and Yorkshire Tea too. You can enjoy breakfast on the sunny window seat or outside in your own private garden.

It's just one step into the large living room with dining table, woodburning stove and comfortable sofa and leather library chair. Lots of books, guides, maps and dvds are provided. Up the curved oak stairs is the galleried bedroom with super king-sized bed and huge ensuite bathroom.

Hayloft is the perfect get-away for a quiet weekend or short retreat. Very romantic - a real escape from it all.

Our family have lived in this house since 1886. It has seen many changes over the years and since 2014 guests have been able to enjoy The Hayloft - a private guest annex at the end of our Long Dales farmhouse.

The Hayloft is a quiet retreat for 2 adults only. We regret that we cannot accept pets or children at any time. Non-smokers only. There are many walks straight from your garden gate. You also have access to 2 acres of private woodland and grounds. Parking is in a shared private car park. Bikes can be stored in our barn. Delicious meals and groceries can be ordered from Relish Deli in Grassington - ask Fiona for their details.

Absolutely beautiful. The cottage was more than equipped; and with the most attention to detail than any other cottage I have stayed at. Apparently it rained all weekend.....we didn't notice it!

Perfect little home away from home with lots of luxury touches!

My husband and I visited for a weekend and we absolutely loved the place. We felt welcome from the moment we booked, communication with Fiona was really easy and on arrival it really felt like everything was just ready and waiting for us.

We loved all of the little extra touches like heated flooring in the kitchen, cake, tea and a bottle of wine waiting for us, breakfast ready for the first morning, the fire already prepared in the stove and even bubble bath ready in the bathroom!

The cottage is beautiful, cosy and comfortable and even though the photos on here look great, it was even nicer in real life. We managed to get out and do some walking in the snow with the help of the guides and maps in the cottage which were really useful. The scenery is beautiful and paths run literally right from the doorstep. It was heavenly to return to somewhere warm and cosy and light the fire.

We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend. We hope to visit again soon!

Lovely place for two in the Dales!

Beautifully equipped converted "barn" (there is nothing barn-like about it). Great living space, huge bedroom and a very smart kitchen. Very quiet, decent walking from the door, and local eating options if you feel the need to go out out to eat.

Cosy, luxurious and peaceful

Booked this for a birthday weekend away and was much bigger than it looks on the pics. Delighted with the cottage and attention to detail made it feel like a home from home. We were rained off any serious walks but was perfect for grassington so turned it into a food themed break instead. Recommend supplies from kheelam farm shop in skipton on the way, great butcher and great deli in Grassington.

Beautiful house with all you need for a great weekend away

We had a wonderfully relaxing weekend at the Hayloft. We walked into Hebden on Friday for a quick drink in the pub, then walked to Linton and Grassington, then back to the house on the Saturday. We had booked a pub meal for the Saturday night but rang to cancel it after we realised that we should make the most of the log burning stove and the beautifully decorated house on a cold February night. On Sunday we drove to Burnsall then did the easy walk back to Hebden for lunch in the Old School House Tearoom then walked back to the car. Everything you need is in the house - basics left for us and I'm sure if we had needed anything we could have asked Fiona. We would highly recommend this house for a quiet weekend away in beautiful countryside with great walks right from the front door.

Car: recommended


A car is recommended but we can pick guests up from the bus in Hebden or Grassington. Nearest train station is Skipton.


It's a 10 minute walk to our nearest village of Hebden with The Clarendon Pub and Old School House cafe. It's 5 minutes in the car to large village of Grassington. Skipton is 25 minutes away by car and Harrogate 35 minutes away.

Further Details:

The Hayloft is tucked away in the quiet hamlet of Hole Bottom. It is perfect for walkers and has a footpath outside the garden gate. It's a 10 minute walk down to Hebden (pub and cafe) and a beautiful 35 minute walk over the tops to Grassington - our largest local village with wide range of shops, pubs, cafes and National Park centre.
