About this property

Charming, Grade II Listed, 17th Century Thatched Cottage

Old Style Cottage is a delightful cob and thatch farm cottage, which has been carefully restored by the owners to maintain and enhance the original features, such as beams, window seats, the fireplace with its bread oven and thick, crooked walls. The cottage has solid oak floors and stairs, central heating throughout and a living flame gas stove to add to the cosy ambiance. You will find all the convenience of a modern kitchen and bathroom, whilst enjoying 17th Century charm. We have used our own experience of staying in holiday cottages to guide us and aim to provide everything the holiday maker could need. Those important little details, such as hooks on the bathroom door, somewhere to put your toilet bags, and all the essentials, like toilet rolls, soap etc are all provided. Heating, towels and linen are included in the price.

Early September Break
We had a lovely short stay in this beautiful cottage. Extremely well-equipped, comfortable and spotless. A great location, and a perfect gateway to Dartmoor. The owner could not have been helpful and accommodating. Highly recommended.

Delightful Devon
The directions to the property were excellent. We were greeted by Trisha and given the keys. The property was very clean and the facilities were excellent. All the appliances looked brand new. The cottage was in a great place for exploring the area we were never far from a main road leading to Dartmoor and National Trust properties in the area. We had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday. Thank you.

We came to Devon on holiday and we loved the area so much that we moved down here in 2006! Old Style Cottage is next door to our cottage, which is such an advantage as we can look after it personally and be on hand to help our guests get the most out of their holiday.

Why they chose this property

Jacobstowe is a beautiful, unspoilt area in the middle of Devon and we, and our guests, are constantly amazed at how quiet the roads are and how easy it is to get around. We are just 10 minutes from the wilds of Dartmoor, and 35 minutes from the gorgeous beaches on the coast. We get the best of both worlds!!

What makes this property unique

Our guests really enjoy staying in a 400-year-old thatched cottage while not compromising on modern conveniences and comforts. They comment on the thoughtfulness that we have put into the design of the cottage and appreciate us providing all the little everyday items such as dishwasher tablets, toilet rolls, cling film and so on, and that we send them a list in advance so they know what they don't need to bring!!
