About the Owner

We are husband and wife owners who love the property we bought in Mallorca and take meticulous care in presenting the house as we would wish to find it. I am an independent film and television producer and my wife is a head teacher and nursery school owner in London.

We have two small children who love to spend their holidays at the house when it is available.

An amazing setting and a breathtaking location. So close to the beach and with a magical quality to it. We loved Can Mas and had a great out of season break there before Easter.

Excellent Family Holiday

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Can Mas which is well sited near to beaches, old towns and villages as well as mountain walks and drives. The villa is in a quiet area and well appointed, very comfortable, and we spent a lot of time time in or around the pool area. The six of us, including two grandchildren ages 8 and 10, found lots to do with most places easy to reach in a car.

Shopping in the old towns close by was good, particularly in Pollenca, and also plenty of good restaurants (we liked Alcudia).

We stayed during October half term week when the temperature was still very good but places not too busy.

If you plan to arrive late at night you need to stock up with basic food and drink requirements before arriving and look very carefully for small house sign at end of road (possibly resting on the ground).

Wonderful villa, average "experience"

  • 4 of 5

Can Masa is a beautifully renovated Finca set in wonderful, very private grounds with great views of the mountains and the monastery-on-the-hill at Santuari del Puig de Maria. Everywhere is very well maintained and the pool was very clean and a perfect place to cool off from the Mallorca sun. The villa has just about everything you want and is very well appointed.

The villa is ideally situated just 5 minutes from Pollenca and 10 minutes from Port de Pollenca and Alcudia where you can find a wide variety of places to eat and things to do. We were particularly impressed with Alcudia Old Town with its very well maintained buildings, narrow streets and great shops and restaurants.

If you are looking for a luxury, peaceful holiday - yet within easy reach of restaurants, shopping and activities, then you can't do much better than Can Mas.

Communications with Mark, the owner, were generally very good although there were a few "misunderstandings" - the original deposit required was £300 but turned out to be £500 (which seems quite high in our experience) and then there was no cleaning or linen and towel change for the whole of our two week stay which we found disappointing when you are paying multiple £000's. We now understand that this was a recent change to the facilities available and was detailed in the latest documentation provided by the owner. However the in-villa documentation still referred to the weekly cleaning and linen change and, as of today (30/09/16), the OwnersDirect website listing is still showing that those facilities are provided. So, please bear this in mind when booking.

One last observation - first impressions are very important and when we arrived at the villa we were tired and very hot yet there no welcome pack - not even a bottle of water in the fridge. We have been renting luxury villas and cottages throughout Europe for 20 years and this is the first we have been to one where there was no welcome pack whatsoever. Maybe it's different in Mallorca but it would have made a better first impression had there been something.

The villa and location was absolutely great.

  • 5 of 5

The villa was located in a very quiet location with wonderful mountain views which was a lovely setting to relax in. There was also lots of space for my two dogs to sunbathe after their morning swim in the sea. The facilities for my disabled daughter were also very good but the only downside was that she could not access the pool. I have been coming to Doctor Majorca for forty years and this is a excellent place to stay especially for a relaxing family holiday. I also had the pleasure of meeting Mark and you can see the love and commitment that he has for the place. So Mark may thanks to you and your good lady for letting us stay.

A Lovely Rural Villa

  • 4 of 5

Can Mas is a lovely villa, in a peaceful yet convenient location. The accommodation is very comfortable with all mod-cons, yet the owners have respected the origins of the property via a sensitive programme of restoration and improvement. For us, the highlights were the pool and adjacent covered dining area, expansive views of the mountains, and the very convenient location - an easy drive from the airport, and close to the facilities and attractions in Alcudia, Formentor, Pollenca, and Port de Pollenca.

We stayed with our two children (eight and five) for two weeks, and they spent hours in and around the pool and were never bored.

On the one occasion we did have a minor issue this was resolved swiftly via a single text to Mark.

Doubtless it helps very much that the owners seem to love spending time at Can Mas. As a result much care and attention has been given to how the property 'feels', and is maintained. Indeed, we should all be grateful that we have the opportunity to visit and stay here.

Staying at Can Mas

  • 4 of 5

We had a very enjoyable time in Can Mas.

The place is lovely and the service superb. We appreciated the quick reaction to the small niggles that occurred during our stay.

We felt "at home" and that was really nice after having been on the road for so long.

Majorqua surprised us in a very good way, being far more than the usual clichés suggest.

Highlights include the gr221, beautiful MTB trails, pollenca market days, Formentor hidden calas,Lluc hiking, and the puig de Maria. The pool was more than welcome after the days out and about.

We will definitely come back with the other bikes (road racing ones) as so many of these roads beg to be ridden.

Thanks for giving us the opportunity to stay in such a special place !

Fantastic Majorca

  • 4 of 5

Can Mas is the perfect Villa, it had everything we would want for a relaxing, home from home holiday. You need a car, but this is a must if you want to see the Island at your leisure. We felt that this area, Pollenca town and the Formentor peninsula were up market, lots to see and do, a wide variety of restaurants and good supermarkets. the Sunday market n Pollenca town is NOT to be missed. we booked ahead with No Frills tours for a trip that included a Coach, boat, tram and train ride, very good value for money at less than E 60, well organised, showing tunnels to a secluded beach, Port Soller, and a train ride through 13 tunnels, almond orchards, and orange and lemon groves, excellent.

Can Mas is off the beaten track, so we recommend that you arrive in daylight and follow the directions carefully and slowly. you will not be disappointed with the villa, the only problem we found was that the Mosquitos like to loiter around the outside dining area.

The outside pool was lovely and clean, a joy on a hot day.

Thank you Mark and Paula, and the girls.

From the Owner

We lived in Mallorca full time with our children from 2011 to 2012 and before moving back to the UK decided that we had to have a home there. We found Can Mas two years ago and fell in love with the house and the setting. Despite several ups and downs in the buying process and with multiple interested bidding parties, we were lucky enough to find a previous owner who wanted the house to go to a good home 'as it were'. The area is magical and the light is inspiring and relaxing at the same time. Birdsong and wildlife make Can Mas an exceptional retreat where relaxation can really take place. It's a short drive to the main town of Pollenca and a short cycle or walk to the beach in the other direction. Resort facilities are never far away and the history and grandeur of Alcudia.

The magnificent Badia de Pollenca with it's expansive and hugely popular resort beaches lie 4km away. A comfortable 15 minute walk or 5 minute drive or 10 min cycle ride.

Travel:

The nearest airport is Palma which is 45 minutes to the South along the very efficient island Motorway. Car Hire is recommended to reach the main town Pollenca and the attractions of the main bay and Puerto Pollenca the resort town.

Distances:

5km to Pollenca, 5km to Puerto Pollenca, 4km to the Beach. 6km to Alcudia and the Romana and Medieval citadel.

Further Details:

Local shops, restaurants, art boutiques abound in the wonderfully atmospheric old town of Pollenca overlooked by the mountain of Puig Maria on top of which is the old monastery. The old town square is the place to head for for Al Fresco summer dining and to watch the world go by. Heading to the beach and the bay, you will find Puerto Pollenca with all it's beach side restaurants and bars and a host of resort activities from sailing, to kite surfing and cycling.

The house is situated close to the main Bay of Pollenca in the North of the Island, the main bay next to Alcudia. Just turn right out of the house and it's 1.75km.

In Puerto Pollenca - there is the picturesque port with the famous Pine Walk, waterside restaurants and boutique shops under the pines with the sea and bay on the doorstep. There in the Port there are numerous restaurants and resort facilities offering everything expected from a premier Spanish location. Turn right at the Bay and you reach the ancient walled citadel of Alcudia with it's fortified centre and again some atmospheric restaurants and bars and boutique shops.

Further on is the major resort facility of Alcudia beach and Morro leading to Can Picafort and the wildlife coastline.

Pollenca old town is 2km left out of the gate. Again an old town square with Cathedral and restaurants overlooked by the monastery on top of the mount of Santa Maria.

The area is renowned for it's spectacular geography with amazing views form the house of the valley leading to the majestic Tramuntana mountains. The house is in an unspoilt and very secluded setting and is not overlooked by neighbours. Dining on the terrace is a magical experience in the golden hours leading to sunset behind the mountains which provide a natural and very private backdrop.
