About the Owner

We moved to Lanzarote in 2001 and bought the finca in 2006, living there for 7 years until we began offering it as holiday accommodation to visitors to the island.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The house is as described in the Lanzarote Guide and on the owner's website. Gaby (the owner) has a good eye for design: the house has been well renovated, decorated and furnished. The garden is large, well planted and maintained, and has several places to sit so that you can follow the sun or shade as you wish. It is completely private, well away from other houses and roads. Yet it's only two minutes drive from the beautiful and traditional coastal town of Arrieta, which has a beach, good restaurants and all the basics you need from a supermarket. The location is very convenient for all major attractions, especially those in the less spoiled north of the island, and for the airport. Gaby lives a few miles away: she was an attentive host, helpful and unobtrusive. There is a good collection of DVDs and books and the wifi system works well. Highly recommended.

Relaxation near Arrietta

  • 4 of 5

The finca was as described, 4km inland from Arrietta, on a large open well planted plot with no neighbours so it also felt private for sunbathing, barbequeing etc. The small pool was not an issue for us (2 adults, no children) and was quite sufficient for a cooling dip when it got hot. Inside the finca was well equipped in the kitchen and living room - plenty of books and dvds. The wifi was surprisingly good - much better than in the villa we stayed at in Puerto del Carmen the previous week - so we were able to catch up with things at home. We must agree with a previous review that the en-suite to the main bedroom does need a door. Fortunately there was also a separate toilet. We were unlucky when we had to change the gas bottle, which was easy to do, in that the pilot light didn't reignite. However, a quick message to Gaby and this was sorted almost immediately.

Having read positive things about the restaurants in Arrietta we ate at three of them during our stay and must say we were underwhelmed. The food was all right but not exceptional although sitting at a table on a sea-front terrace was rather pleasant.

The best feature of the finca was the mature gardens which provide open areas for sunbathing and shady nooks for reading and chilling. We had a most relaxing week and, after ten villa holidays in Lanzarote, would put the finca at the top of the list of places we would want to return to.

Owner's Response: Thanks Richard and Chris for your lovely review. As you're the second guests who have raised the issue of the en-suite lacking a door, we plan to remedy this when we have our next maintenance period. So thank you for highlighting this as something that needs to be addressed. We're very pleased that you enjoyed your stay and hope we may see you again in the future. Just for the benefit of other people reading your review the Finca is in fact just 1km as the crow flies from the beach at Arrieta. Although it feels much further if you try to walk that in the heat!

Beautiful get-away-from-it-all villa.

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed a lovely week staying in this villa with two children aged 5 & 7 who loved exploring the fab garden spotting lizards.

The villa is probably the best equiped villa we've stayed in with plenty of crockery, glasses, serving dishes etc in the kitchen, but also things like tea towels, washing up liquid, kitchen towel, washing up sponge, salt & pepper, sugar, cooking oil, hand soap etc, the things often not included that you end up needing to buy! Having the beach/pool towels provided was also a fantastic idea. On arrival the villa was clean and obviously well maintained. We found the beds very comfortable and the shutters on the windows were an excellent black out.

Gaby was great during the booking process and it was good to be met at the villa on the first day to be able to ask any questions and get relevant info on the villa. She was also available via text during the stay if we'd needed help with anything.

Not having a washing machine would normally be a bit of a pain for us, however, Gaby offered a mid-week wash for us, returning the cleaned, dried clothes the next day which was really appreciated.

The villa's location was superb, with no immediate neighbours but close to the little town or Arrieta and the beach, with the main road reachable in a few minutes. The pool is quite small and quite shallow, but for our two children it was a big enough to have fun and provided a cool down for the adults. The different areas to sit in the garden was great, just needing to move some of the seats around.

Overall we enjoyed staying very much and if we return to Lanzarote in the future would be sure to try and get booked in.

Thanks Gaby

The Perfect Escape!

  • 5 of 5

Our second visit to Finca Natura only reinforced our positive view on what had been a faultless first week here in 2013. If you are looking for something comfortable, distinctive, authentic and beautifully presented then look no further. Situated in what we considered to be the most interesting part of the island a short drive or 30 minute walk from the charming coastal village of Arietta, Finca Natura is a gem or a holiday destination. While a car is desirable it is not essential, the property being about 30mins drive from the airport and situated in a beautiful hidden valley :it would be easy to spend your whole stay just relaxing in one of the many hidden corners of the incredible landscaped gardens. The property itself combines the best of traditional Lanzarote architecture, partially clad in volcanic rock blending the house with its landscape. Inside it is furnished in an easy comfortable contemporary style with modern kitchen and bathrooms and all mod cons including television...DVD...wi fi and all appliances to make your stay easy and relaxing. Gaby and Nick have taken some inspiration from the work of Cesar Manrique in developing the harmonious relationship between house, garden and landscape beyond. There is the added benefit of a pool and a deck that makes the best of views down toward the sea. The owners are extremely helpful in providing advice on where to eat out or visit should you require. The island continues to reveal its charms and this is the perfect destination both to enjoyand to relax, unwind and rediscover the true beauty of a place. We would definitely return and recommended Finca Natura to anyone seeking something special, bespoke ,authentic and an experience you will never forget for all the right reasons!

Location

From the Owner

We bought the Finca back in 2006 because of it´s unique location in open fields, amazing views and huge garden. It´s located in the north of the island, our favourite part of Lanzarote, as it remains unspoilt and largely untouched by mass market tourism. It´s also just minutes from our favourite beach, so it´s the ideal spot for serious relaxation.

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

Finca Natura is made for nature and garden lovers and those keen to connect with nature and enjoy outdoor pursuits. It makes an ideal base for walking and cycling holidays and the owners are happy to help arrange all manner of other activities, from in house massages and treatments through to surfing, diving and windsurfing tuition.

Coast/Beach:

The excellent beach and restaurants at Arrieta are just minutes away by car, a distance of around 1km. The white sand beaches known collectively as Caleton Blanco are around 10 minutes drive. The resort of Costa Teguise with five beaches is a fifteen minute drive.

Travel:

Arrecife airport is around 35 minutes away by car. Directions are provided on booking and car hire can be arranged by the owners from the airport.

Distances:

Nearest restaurants, shops and bars are all just 1km away in Arrieta.

Further Details:

Finca Natura is ideal for anyone seeking total peace and privacy. The property is a garden lover’s paradise and the property is surrounded by open fields - so you feel totally immersed in nature. There are some fantastic walks right on your doorstep - the path at the end of the palm lined driveway leads all the way up to the village of Haria (where there is an excellent market every Saturday morning) and the Valley of 1000 Palms and is also ideal for mountain biking.

Best of all the beach at Arrieta - one of the best and most unspoilt beaches on Lanzarote - is just minutes away. There are two good restaurants here and our favourite - Casa de la Playa - is right on the beach and serves great fresh seafood. There are also plenty more restaurants in the village itself, along with a small supermarket. As a result Finca Natura feels totally away from it all, yet at the same time is very close to all amenities.

There are also plenty of attractions within a short drive, including many of the local artist Cesar Manrique´s most important creations, such as the Jameos del Agua, the Cactus Garden and the Mirador del Rio. The beautiful white sand beaches of Caleton Blanco are just ten to fifteen minutes by car and the nearest resort of Costa Teguise is a fifteen to twenty minute drive.
