Gateholm is a spacious family house,in the heart of the village of Dale, with private parking for 2/3 cars, and additional parking on the road for a boat. It has 2 double bedrooms, 1 single and 1 twin bedded room. Central heating. An open plan dining/kitchen with double doors leads to the lounge, and patio doors giving access to an extensive sheltered sunny paved patio with large table and chairs to enjoy the sun and peaceful setting. Wide steps lead to the lawned garden with additional seating, and a colourful bank of shrubs, including fatsias, fuchsia and rhododendrons. Above this is Blue Anchor Woodland full of different wildlife, and a fantastic sea view.The pontoon in Dale is very popular for small boats and with children who can enjoy fishing for crabs. Opportunities for sailing, windsurfing and canoeing are all on offer in Dale alongside the local pub and cafe where you can relax and enjoy the atmosphere. All this is less than a 1 minute's walk from the house. A beautiful area.

About Christine Fletcher

I was introduced to holidays in Pembrokeshire over 40 years ago and still get the most wonderful delight in all that it has to offer. Our house in Dale is an excellent base from which to explore and walk on the coastal path to enjoy the spectacular scenery.

Why Christine Fletcher chose Pembrokeshire

We have always spent a lot of time in Pembrokeshire, particularly around Dale and Marloes.

We love the remoteness and beauty of the beaches, and the scenery as you walk along the coastal path. Photography and art work are wonderful pastimes in this area, along with sailing,surfing and windsurfing.

What makes this house unique

Gateholm is a very comfortable and conveniently placed property with the benefit of an en-suite, family bathroom and shower room.

It is fully double glazed, well insulated, and has character and warmth.

The rear garden and wooded bank attract a beautiful collection of birds. Skomer Island which is renowned for the birds is reached by a local boat, bookable in Dale.

Windsurfing, Surfing and Sailing are all on hand, as is walking on the Pembrokeshire coastal path.

a great friendly well presented, well equipped 4 bed house, parking for three vehs,in a good position. Dale is quite remote, but is in itself, a lovely little village in a sheltered bay ideal for walking and visiting the pembroke coast.

Notes on accommodation: Gateholm is a very comfortable house, sleeping up to 7 people and located only a minutes walk from Dale seafront and the amenities the village has to offer. The property benefits from some sea views from the first floor bedrooms. It is an ideal house for families, couples or friends. The en-suite is an added bonus. All the bedrooms have a coastal theme bedding, bedside lights, double wardrobes and drawers providing ample storage for your clothes. The open plan design makes it a very user friendly house, and brilliant for families with children. The property has a safe fenced and gated back patio which is perfect for children, and wide steps lead to the lawn providing another lovely area to sit and enjoy the sun and listen to the birds. A large wooden table and chairs are perfect for eating outside. The top bank of the garden has brilliant views over Dale bay. Please note: No additional fuel charges for winter months. Outside: The house has its own private drive with parking for at least 2 cars. Additional cars/boats can be parked outside the property. The front garden is full of colourful shrubs. At the rear of the property there is a secure storage area at the back of the garage, an outside tap, a washing line, a good quality outdoor table and chairs, and barbecue on the paved patio. Wide steps lead up to the lawn and bank of shrubs, with an additional wooden table and chairs to enjoy the sheltered sunny garden, with the woodland above. The lawn provides a very lovely area for sitting, playing and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. Utility Room: Fridge/freezer, sink, washing machine, iron, ironing board and drying racks, washing basket, pegs, basic cleaning equipment, floor mop, hoover, storage shelving Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen is provided, and also towels, bath mats and tea towels. Please provide your own beach towels. The property is fully cleaned after each letting. The garden and property are regularly maintained, and kept in very good order. Other: Entrance porch with space for hanging coats and storage of shoes, beach goods etc. Toy box, books and information about the area. Utility room with sink, washing machine and drying racks.Storage and shelving and access to the back garden.

Warm, comfortable, well equipped and tasteful!

We had a lovely few days in Dale. The property was really comfortable, very spacious and tastefully decorated. Christine gave us all the information we needed to make our stay trouble-free. We were able to do some long coastal walks, with stunning scenery, straight from the door. Highly recommended! Many thanks!

Very comfortable cottage in an idyllic location

We were a family of 7 staying at Gateholm for the week. The cottage was so ideal for the 3 generations. It was very clean and very comfortable with everything we needed. The kitchen was very well equipped and we ate in often but also used the excellent Griffin pub for meals too. The proximity of Dale beach was superb for us and we were able to store our water sports equipment on the back terrace. We also enjoyed all the other nearby beaches, West Dale, Marloes, Musselwick and the walking. We will be back.

lovely place to stay

We stayed at Gateholm for four nights during a hot spell in June. We were very comfortable. There were places to take the sun but also lots of shade. The house is bright, clean and and welcoming; the living space and bedrooms are well furnished and thoughtfully decorated. The kitchen provided all we needed to cook for a large family group. There was good information both about how things worked in the house and the local amenities. The owners seem to have given a lot of thought to what families need in order to settle in quickly and enjoy the surroundings. The welcoming bottle of wine in chocolates were much appreciated.The village and the wider locality provide lots of options for children and adults. For us the boat trip around Skomer and late afternoon walks to West Dale beach were hightlights.

In all Gateholm offered a great place to stay in a lovely part of Pembrokeshire.

Beautiful cottage in lovely setting. Very peaceful. and perfect for a quiet get away.

The cottage is very homely with all the items we could think of to make our stay very comfortable. Chris the owner has been easily contactable and made sure everything was good with our stay.

We would definitely recommend and be very happy to stay again.

Great location for local pub, cafe, water sports and coastal trail.

Lovely house in great location

The house was in a beautiful place; two minutes from the harbour bay in a quiet road and only 15 minutes walk up to Westdale Beach.which was accessible down a path and had lovely views from the cliff top too.

We found the house really comfortable and warm; we all loved the views from the house and the garden was very attractive with shrubs and a wood at the top.Everything was well maintained and clean.

We visited Marloes beach and village nearby, (where there is a little store and good cafe). Just near there is Martin's Haven where seals were spotted; also up the cliff top there are amazing views over three bays where even more seals were spotted on the rocks. Up St Brides Bay a few miles are Broad Haven, Nolton Haven and Newgale all beautiful and worth a visit.

The Griffin Inn was visited once and there was good fish to be had there. The Moorings looked good but we didn't have time to go there.

We all loved the bay just out of Dale about a mile where there were many waders at low tide. It was quiet and we took photos and did drawings there as well.

Chris was very helpful and left us chocolates and a bottle of wine as a welcome. We were sorry not to meet her but she was easy to contact if necessary. I would recommend the house and area to friends and family as we enjoyed it very much indeed.

One thing we would have liked was a tumble dryer in the utility room, as one morning we all got drenched whilst out walking. In the summer it would be no problem as there is a garden clothes dryer and also a collapsible rack.Only a small moan, sorry !

It is a very good idea to get the shopping delivered from Tesco's when you first arrive arrive and we were pleased we did.

Location

Car: necessary

Coast/Beach:

Dale waterfront is a 2 minute walk down the road. At low tide there is sand, with a pebble bank to the edge of the beach. The bay is perfect for sailing, windsurfing and swimming. Children enjoy searching for crabs off the pontoon.

West Dale is a 15 min walk up the road. It has a delightful sandy beach at low tide. The Atlantic breakers provide excellent surf conditions.

Marloes Sands is a 15 min drive and a 15/20 min walk down to the beach, listed as one of the best in Britain.

Travel:

The M4, A48 and A40 provide fast dual carriageway links to St Clears. Recent further upgrading of the A40 mean that Haverfordwest can be reached in well under two hours from the Severn Crossing.

Both Haverfordwest and Milford Haven have rail stations.

A car is very useful for exploring the beautiful Pembrokeshire Coast.

Distances:

Haverfordwest is about 25 mins drive. Marloes is about 10 mins drive. Milford Haven is about 20 mins drive. The Havens - Little Haven and Broad Haven are about 20 mins by car. Newgale surfing beach is about 40 mins and then another 30 minute drive takes you to St Davids, Britain's smallest cathedral city.

Further Details:

Dale has a local pub - The Griffin, the Yacht club and the Boathouse all provide food. Tesco supermarket have stores in Haverfordwest and Milford Haven, plus local banks and retail outlets.
