About the property

Cottage in Grangemuir, Pittenweem, Fife, Scotland - Peaceful Location Within Walking Distance Of Pittenweem

The Gardener's Cottage is set within its own mature garden which is part of a more extensive parcel of land around an old walled garden that used to belong to a neighbouring estate.

The cottage has recently been upgraded and is very spacious. It can sleep up to 9 people although if you require each person to have their own bed it sleeps a maximum of 7 people. It has a large sitting room with a log burning stove, a new well equipped kitchen, a dining area, 3 large bedrooms, a sun room as well as a secluded outdoor bbq area. Its very peaceful yet near all amenities. A car is recommended however its an easy walk to the village and buses go to St Andrews, Edinburgh and pass through all the villages of the East Neuk too.

The cottage is very flexible as the two double bedrooms can be twins or Super Kings. The bunk room has a double bed with a single bunk on top. There is also a large sofa bed in the living room.

A new kitchen and bathroom have been recently installed giving the cottage all mod cons. It is very well equipped and comfortable. In the winter the central heating kicks in and the wood burner makes it very cosy indeed. There is plenty of hot water from the new boiler and the beds, with their hotel quality linen, allow everyone to get a good nights sleep.

There are plenty of seats for everyone both inside and out. The BBQ is good sized and the terraced area is sunny and sheltered.

The garden is a great area for children to play in, its safe although there is a small stream at the bottom of the garden where young children need supervision.

About Jamie Robertson

Madeira was owned and run as a holiday destination by the Duncan family for 20 years. We bought the house and cottages at the end of 2012 as we fell in love with the extraordinary garden and wanted to bring our kids up in this serene environment. We are not new to the self catering holiday industry as we own a business in Edinburgh called The Mews Company. We understand what people need in a cottage to enable them to spend as long or as little time in the cottage as they want. Our desire is to ensure our guests can enjoy their time at Madeira and that the cottages are an excellent base in which to explore the local area. We love it here and we hope you will too. Why Jamie Robertson chose Anstruther

We fell in love with Madeira as soon as we came up the drive. It was the sense of calm and the beautiful curved driveway running through the mature gardens. The house itself needed a lot of work and the cottages were a bit tired too. But we were not deterred and knew it was the place for us.

Now everything is renovated and we are busy ensuring the gardens reach their potential. They are beautiful but need constant attention.

What makes this cottage unique

Guests have returned to Madeira time and time again because it is a lovely, calm place to base themselves. Guests often sit out on the terrace having their breakfast (we have a micro climate because we are very sheltered) or a drink in the evening.

We are very well located and people can reach the many local attractions easily. St Andrews is only 15 mins away, and you can walk to Pittenweem in 10 mins and Anstruther and St Monans within 30 mins.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Just spent a fabulous week in Gardeners Cottage with our children and grandchildren. This property has a large woodland garden with a stream running through it which allowed our grandchildren to run wild, playing on rope swings, splashing in the stream, making bows and arrows, toasting marshmallows on a camp fire in the garden as well as imagining fairies in the hollow tree. (dads and grand dad also enjoyed all these activities)

It's a short, safe walk into Pittenweem to the beach and ice cream.
