About Maggie Tooby

Richard and Maggie discovered this cottage hidden away in the village. After major garden clearance they discovered The View. They plan to downsize to the cottage when their children leave home. As owners of the cottage, they live within walking distance, so are there if you need them but would prefer you to enjoy your holiday without interference- the cottage is yours to enjoy.

Maggie Tooby purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Maggie Tooby chose Tenby

We love Pembrokeshire because of the beaches- the variety and splendour. Manorbier in particular has several beaches within walking distance.

We also like the sea life - seals, porpoises, and the amazing sea birds - cormorants, gannets, fulmars and the puffins on the island - razorbills and guillemots.

For those that like to explore the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and the sea/coast/ estuaries and villages it is ideally located.

Fishing trips,

For landlubbers there is plenty to do too, or not to do if you prefer!

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage is in its own private garden with your car parked conveniently- but you may chose not to use your car while enjoying your holiday ( a rare treat for most) as so many facilities are nearby in the village.

The garden is positioned to make the most of any sunshine throughout the day.

The train station is accessible but a good walk away.

Surfing, walking castles are all close by

Coast/Beach: Pembrokeshire Coast National Park - area of natural beauty

The proximity to the beach can be seen on Google maps-Tarr Farm Cottage.

It should take 10 minutes- though coming back may be longer - as it is uphill!!

Distances:

The cottage is on the periphery of the village which boasts a Castle, shop, pub and hotel with rooms.

A cosy cottage with styling reminiscent of beach hut romance, tucked away on the edge of the popular beachside village resort of Manorbier and just a short walk to sandy beaches. A perfect base to retreat to and relax if you are looking to make the most of the fantastic Pembrokeshire beaches yet being a stone’s throw from all the village of Manorbier beaches. Set over one floor, there is one comfortable bedroom with a family bathroom. There is a compact kitchen, everything you need to prepare your picnic for a day out exploring the coastline. There is a lovely roomy sitting room with dining area that overlooks the secluded garden. A choice of comfy seating including Laura Ashley reclining chairs- perfect to enjoy a relaxing cup of coffee whatever the weather. Manorbier is a delightful village with sandy and rock pools and other Secret Beaches of Wales within walking distance for those who like coast path walking. You may choose to park your car in the private cottage drive which is off the road and free your self from motoring during your stay. The fabulous Wales Coastal Path leads to fantastic walks to local beaches in both directions. If you wish to explore a little further afield you will be spoilt for choice. You are ideally placed to visit a fantastic selection of theme parks with Oakwood, Manor House Wildlife Park, Folly Farm and The Blue Lagoon all within a 20 minute drive. Manorbier is in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park so you have almost an unlimited choice of local beaches to choose from, why not take a trip to the famous National Trust area of Bosherston Lily Ponds and Barafundle Bay, 20 minutes drive away, or visit the pretty walled seaside town of Tenby, 15 minutes drive, steeped in history and a perfect venue to partake in some fabulous watersports and wildlife boat trips. The harbour seaside venue of Saundersfoot is just the other side of Tenby and also boasts watersports such as paddleboards fishing trips and crabbing areas. The area offers numerous outdoor activities such as dolphin and wildlife spotting boat trips, as well as the opportunity to visit one of the many islands dotting the South Wales Coast such as Caldey, There are also lovely places just inland on the Cleddau estuary such as the magnificent Carew Castle or the moorings at Lawrenny, or Upton Castle Gardens. Also National Trust Places like Colby Lodge Gardens. You can try the adrenaline sports of coasteering, more sedate river and sea fishing or perhaps fulfil a dream of riding a horse on the beach. For the surfers among you Manorbier is one of the best local beaches and if it is disappointing here then Freshwater West may oblige. Thsi beach is famous from Harry Potter and Robin Hood with Russell Crowe. Slightly further afield, within an hour’s drive, you can take a boat to the Isle of Skomer and in season get close up to the numerous Puffins or perhaps visit the tiny city of St Davids, with more of a small village feel with its magnificent cathedral and nearby St Justinan's lifeboat and trips to RSPB Ramsey.A perfect base to explore Pembrokeshire and enjoy a variety of days out or simply spend the week exploring the coastline. Ideal for a couple or family looking for a retreat at the end of the day, yet being close to a small village with a local shop and supplies.

Ideally situated close to the beach. Very comfortable with everything you could need. Very clean.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is very clean and well maintained. The owners have ensured that it is well resourced with everything you could need. Good selection of games and books and fast wifi. Lovely welcome hamper was a surprise and much appreciated. The cottage is ideally situated and is just a short walk from the beach which is great for dog walking. Beautiful views from the garden. A great place to stay and we would definitely stay here again.

A quiet and pleasant place for two.

  • 4 of 5

We found the house and garden a very relaxing place with privacy and good views. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Some fittings were a little "tired" but perfectly usable.

Comfortable & Cosy

  • 4 of 5

A warm welcome on our arrival with some local asparagus (which we went on to buy lots more to take home!) We wanted some peace and quiet which is what we got in spades. The garden was lovely, spring in Wales is much further on than in Suffolk and the smells of the spring flowers and the sound of the birdsong massaged our tired shoulders and was safe and secure for our young spaniel Bertie who loved it too. Although cold, windy and wet windy we were sad to leave the peace and quiet of Tarr Cottage and step back into the real world

Delightful.

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful spot, lovely helpful welcome and clean. It's a super hidden-away spot with lovely garden, yet only 5 minutes from the centre of Manorbier, and with view from the secret patio of castle and bay. And in summer weather the garden would be a delight. Lots of equipment and family games too.

Many thanks - we'll certainly recommend and hope to come again.
